Chapter 41 A Candidate For Luna
Third Person POV Finally, this haughty Alpha bent his noble head in mate pull. Every minute of every day, he couldn't stop thinking about Keira, and he was fully aware that no one could ever take her place. He made his way back to the living room while sipping wine vigorously. His heart and throat burned as a result of the strong alcohol. Augustine went to take a shower after being a touch too heated. With his hair still dripping and the water gleaming on his muscular pecs, Augustine emerged from the bathroom. Watermarks were left on the living room's marble floor by his bare feet. Droplets trickled into the bath towel and down his chiseled pecs. Sitting on the couch, Augustine began to think how they had got there, glanced at the rum that was next to the record player to hide his scent, and became so irate that he took up the scented stone on the table and crushed it. You know he was last year's hunting king. Splash- In addition to the scent of spirits, Augustine could stil

Chapter 42 New Alpha
Keira POV I went to Ryan's friend's shop the day before Owain's coming-of-age party and purchased an antique dress from the 1950s made of rose gold taffeta with a square neckline and layers of tulle for added volume. "Oh my Gosh, you're so gorgeous!" Delaney hid her lips with her fingers as she stared in astonishment. "The collar is a little empty here, so maybe I'll match it with a necklace," I said, assessing my attire in the mirror to see if it was appropriate for the situation. "No, you should expose your collarbone instead!" Delaney selected a strand of pearls and measured the neckline before saying, "I'll add some beautiful embellishments. "I can't thank you enough, Delaney." "It's nothing, kid. I'm sure Owain will have a great time tonight because you attend." "Is Owain set to become Alpha?" I said as I exited the dressing room after taking off my dress. Delaney accepted the garment and responded, "Definitely. He is so good and helps carry those heavy crates eve

Chapter 43 Do You Wanna Be My Mate?
Keira POV As I approached the back door garden of the castle, I was immediately struck by the lovely plants that surrounded me. The crisp air of early autumn is infused with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, and the gentle rustling of fallen leaves underfoot. Golden yellow chrysanthemums nodded lazily in the breeze, while deep purple asters sway gently alongside delicate pink and white carnations. Clusters of tall, spiky purple Liatris added height and drama to the garden, and the bright red of scarlet sage blooms added a vibrant pop of color. I paused to take in the beauty of the flowers, then I heard a cheerful voice from inside the castle. Looking up, it turns out that there were people talking and laughing on the second-floor terrace, so I sat down on the small bench under the terrace and waited for Owain. When I enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, settled in, and let myself become lost in the beauty of the garden, I heard footsteps approaching. "Have you been waiting fo

Chapter 44 The Wolf Assembly
Keira POV"Owain, I am sorry..." Owain gently touched my lips with his index finger as I was about to refuse. He leaned closer and said, "Don't refuse me, it's my gift, or I'll take what I want most." My chin was in his hand, and his thumb was gently rubbing my lips.I briefly held my breath. He doesn't express his true desires, but I believe I understand what it was."I'm concerned that somebody will recognize me."What if Augustine was there? As soon as the pressure on my lips subsided, Owain took hold of my face and pressed our foreheads together, saying, "You needn't fear; Molly is skilled with makeup and she can disguise you. You don't have to worry. No one will identify you, I guarantee it."I wanted to say no to him, but a voice in my head persuaded me that this was an opportunity for me to fully emerge from the shadows. Running away wasn't the solution; facing everything head-on with calmness was what would truly free me.What are you frightened of, Keira? You can disguise you

Chapter 45 See Him
Keira POV I felt as though I was in my house in bed when I glanced out the top window of the automobile at the autumn night sky with all the stars aligned. "Keira, are you OK? Do you feel anxious?" Owain sat in the driver's seat and glanced at me; his eyes spoke of worry. He then grasped my hand. "Do you believe it? I'm fine; I'm calm now." I leaned back against the seat and cocked my head to look at him while I spoke. "Brave girl. You have no idea how anxious I was at the coming-of-age party, you look better than I did." Owain said with a smile. "Am I recalling this incorrectly? That day, you were a cool, collected, and well-behaved Alpha. "I replied, seeming to be surprised and teasing him. "Oh my God, why didn't I see before that you were genuinely skilled at flattery? Want to try extreme speed?" Owain asked as he twisted the wheel. "Obviously." The Porche sped off like a ghost in the night as I clutched my seatbelt. I then reacted like most people do when they see a

Chapter 46 Are You Keira Osborn?
The Wolf Assembly was set to take place at 2 p.m. today, with approximately 69 pack Alphas in attendance. However, only five of them would hold the veto power, deciding the future of all packs. It goes without saying that the current five veto holders might be replaced as a result of the emergence of a more capable Alpha. And this time, where will these five dominant males who stand in the highest position lead the entire wolf pack? Keira POV I opened my eyes in the morning and worried that I would lose sleep the previous night but I slept until dawn because Owain was next to me. The sun was shining on me, and I felt as though the anxiety and stress from last night had vanished. That was the best therapy I've ever received. Sometimes the fear itself does not scare us; instead, we are stopped by the shadow it casts. With the help of the makeup skill Molly had taught me and a portion of the disguise she had prepared for me, I stood up and transformed into Hollie. "That's really awf

Chapter 47 How Deeply We Once Loved
Keira POVHe already suspected me, as it turned out."Who's Keira Osborn?" I shook my head and pretended to be perplexed, saying, "I don't really know this female."At the moment he inquired, Augustine gave me a direct look in an effort to ascertain every detail in my facial expression. Without saying a word, he had his hands crossed in front of his chest."I've already responded if that's what you wanted to know, though. I am sorry that I have to end our talk, but I need to go have breakfast." I turned back and was ready to walk away after being unable to stand his nail-like look.My shoulder was abruptly grasped by his hand, and my body was violently turned around. Augustine's palm slammed hard against the hard wall, trapping me between him and the wall.I mockingly thought that his heart was as hard as his hands because I couldn't see any signs of suffering on his face.He didn't say anything while our eyes were locked, and every second was agony for me. I turned to the side that w

Chapter 48 The Jealous Type
Keira POVOwain was gobsmacked as I grabbed a second plate of pancakes and proceeded to tear them apart with my knife and fork. Food was the only thing that could calm my nerves."You're famished, did you not have enough to eat last night?" Owain whispered. Seeing my stuffed cheeks and head shake, he fell silent for a few seconds, "Keira, do you want me to fetch you another plate?""No, I'm stuffed." I gobbled up everything on my plate.Looking out the window at the growing number of cars, I set down my cutlery and looked at Owain, "The folks who are headed to the conference are slowly gathering.""Yeah, I hear those five seats are gonna change this year." Owain mused, his brow was knitted as he thought."Five seats?" I asked, my speech slurred by a mouthful of blueberries."Long time ago, each pack had been ruled by their own Alpha, but it caused a lot of chaos." Owain said with a sigh in a somewhat heavy tone."What happened?" I blinked, my curiosity piqued. My parents had never tol

Chapter 49 Care To Explain?
Keira POV I walked into a large, rectangular hall like a ladder classroom with a high ceiling and rows of seats that are arranged in a tiered, stadium-style configuration. The seats are arranged in a semi-circular pattern around a podium. And the huge floor-to-ceiling windows allow for plenty of natural light to flood the space, which was my favorite. There was a raised platform at the front of the room, equipped with a sound system, ensuring that the speaker's voice can be heard clearly throughout the room. And even a large projector screen can be lowered from the ceiling for multimedia presentations. Owain and I were chillin' in the second row, ten minutes before the conference started and the hall was almost packed. I looked around and saw a bunch of Alphas with their mates. No wonder Augustine asked me that question. "How long have we gotta sit here for?" I whispered to Owain. "I dunno, with the introductions and the Five speakin', it's gonna be like 2 hours." Owain repl

Chapter 50 Rejected
Keira POV"He's just crazy! Are you okay, Keira?" said Owain, looking at me worriedly."I'm fine." I forced a smile, Augustine was the math problem I would never be able to solve, that I would never be able to guess what he would do next. And there was only one way for me to get out of it all, and that was to let it go completely. If a good girl is at a disadvantage in a relationship, what should she do? Especially when he smiled like victor and looked down on you? She better jump off the scales, get off balance with each other and jump out of the relationship. How should I do that? I thought as I watched Augustine's back.A minute later, the lights around the podium came on. Everyone fell silent and I heard a male's voice next to me whisper, "It's about to start, I wonder who's the new guy that joined. He must be someone powerful."My eyes followed the lights to the podium, where an elder of the committee stepped forward and said, "We must acknowledge the dark periods of our shared h
