Chapter 31
KEENA Beep. Beep. Beep. That is the only sound that I can hear. The sound of constant beeping creeps into my mind even while I try to sleep. Groaning to myself I try to roll over but my body is stiff and unmoving. I try to open my eyes but it is useless. My eyelids won't budge. I try to let out a sigh but something is lodged in my throat. Swallow. I have to swallow. As I swallow the feeling in my throat doesn't go away. Panic begins to fill my soul as I try to escape the dark prison that I have found myself in. "She is too powerful," suddenly, Sister Edith's voice is in my mind. "Her powers need to be bound. She is going to hurt someone." "Perhaps you are right," my mother's voice breaks through. "She has put her friend in danger twice now. Through no fault of her own." "Do you know what set her off this time?" Sister Edith asks. "I cannot be sure but it would appear that her mate betrayed the mate bond," my mother's voice sounds angry and sad. "He

KEENAStanding in the closet I finger through the clothes that are hanging on the "to wear when I am not around" side of the closet. Letting out a frustrated sigh I grab my cutest pair of black sweats. Looking down at the runes that now cover my forearms I know that I want to have them covered. I wrinkle my nose at all of the oversized sweatshirts and refuse to put them on. Grabbing a cropped sweatshirt from the other side of the closet and I slip it over my head. Jarek can't be too angry at my choice of clothing. I am covered except for a small bit of my stomach that is barely visible. I walk down stairs and see Ward waiting for me at the kitchen table. He offers me a bright smile but I can only frown back at him. "Ward," I say quietly. "I can't let you come to school with me today." Ward's face falls but he doesn't protest. "I know. Your father explained the situation." "I am so sorry," I say with embarrassment. "It is okay, Princess," Ward says as he gets to his

Chapter 33
KEENA Jarek releases me from the wall and grabs ahold of my hand dragging me back to the front of the building. Just as we are about to round the corner of the building a loud snarl from behind us grabs our attention. Jarek and I both turn around and see two large wolves stalking towards us. Unlike the rogues that fought at the mansion a few nights before these two don't have matted fur and they don't smell like rotting flesh. That can mean only one thing. These are pack members. Jerking me by the hand, Jarek races towards the parking lot with the wolves quickly on our heels. I dare to look behind us as we run and there is no one outside any longer. The clock must have chimed for the first class to start. "Move faster," Jarek hisses at me as he runs to his red sports car. He flings the passenger side open and shoves me inside before running to the drivers side. Without hesitation Jarek reaches over me and buckles my seatbelt. He then puts his car in drive and peels

KEENAJarek's massive form looms over me but I refuse to cower in fear. "I told you not to fucking run," he glowers at me. "Fuck you," I spit back at him. The wolf that still has a hold of my ankle bites down harder and I hiss out in pain. I try to pull my ankle out of its mouth but the wolf only closes his mouth harder around my foot. "Now, now," Jarek tuts with his mouth. "That's not how a Princess is supposed to talk." Pulling a pair of handcuffs out of his back pocket, Jarek walks towards me with an angry look on his face. Bending down he tries to grab ahold of my hands but before he can grab my hands I kick him in the knee with my free leg. Jarek stumbles backwards and almost falls but he catches himself before he hits the ground. "Listen here, you, Little Bitch," he growls at me. "You are coming with me." "I would rather die," I scream as loudly as I can but there doesn't seem to be anyone around to hear. "That can be arranged," Jarek says with a smirk on his

Chapter 35
WARD Keena's classes have been over for more than an hour and she still isn't home yet. I am pacing back and forth in my bedroom trying to think about anything that is not Keena. The King told me to watch her but keep her distance, but I was not to follow her to school. Faris and her mate will be watching over her while she is in school. Her mate, it makes me angry just thinking about that asshole being her mate. To be honest, I have loved Keena from the moment that I laid eyes on her two years ago. I had just joined the Royal Guard and was assigned to be one of the body guards at her and her brother's sixteenth birthday party. It was a massive party with every lycan from Lycan City in attendance, along with several Alpha's and their families from packs around the United States. Keena was escorted down the stairs by her father in an emerald dress that matched her eyes perfectly. Her hair was pulled up into an intricate updo with strands that hung down and framed her face.

Chapter 36
WARD I hear the revving of a car engine out in front of the mansion and I peek out of the window to see that Kayla is pulling up to the front door in her tiny pink sports car. I can't help but chuckle despite the circumstances. Her car fits her personality perfectly. The butler opens the front door for her and she runs into the mansion, straight into Faris's arms. I watch discreetly as he wipes her tears from her cheeks and places a thoughtful kiss on her forehead. There is something more going on here than just a simple friendship between two lycans. But that is none of my business. My business is getting Keena back into Lycan City and never letting her out of my sight ever again. Faris escorts Kayla into his father's office and I finally get a good look at her. Her eyes are red and puffy and her naturally curly blonde hair is disheveled in a messy bun on top of her head. She has on a pair of sweats that are covered in tear stains. She looks like she has been crying a

Chapter 37
KEENA"Welcome to the Crescent Moon Pack." Jarek's father looks down on me with a wicked smile. I look up at the older man that is standing above me. He is much older than many of the standing Alphas are, I can tell that just by the thinning of his hair and the wrinkles under his eyes. But as I look at him I can see how he must have looked just like Jarek when he was younger. His hazel eyes are intimidating as they stare down upon me but I refuse to be frightened. If they want a fight that is exactly what they are going to get with me. "Thanks," I say through gritted teeth as I try to sit up in the cramped trunk of the car. As my eyes adjust to the blinding light around me I realize that I am no longer in Colorado. The landscape is void of trees and shrubbery. Brown grass and large cactuses surround a large building, which I can only assume is the pack house of the Crescent Moon Pack. "I need to contact my family," I try to reason with Jarek's father. "They need to kn

KEENADragging me by the arm, Jarek tosses me down the stairs to the dungeon that lies below the Crescent Moon pack house. My shoulder hits the hard cement ground and I cry out in pain. It is clear that even though they may not be able to kill me they will still torture me. Looking up from the floor I can see Jarek walking down the stairs. His teeth are clenched together and sweat is rolling down his forehead. I take a little bit of pride in knowing that he feels someone of my pain through the mate bond. Throwing me over his shoulder, Jarek tosses me on a broken cot in one of the cells. I don't know what hurts worse at the moment. My body or my broken heart. I really thought that he would accept me for who I am, but now I see that was foolish. I was willing to look past his shortcomings because he wasn't willing to look past mine. Jarek slams my cell door shut. I watch as he paces outside of my cell like a caged animal. "You just couldn't have kept your stupid mouth s

JAREKPacing the hall in front of my father's office I try to decide if I am ready for the truth. For the past few weeks the only two things that have been on my mind is Keena and finding out the truth of what my father has done. Unexpectedly, the door to my father's office swings open and an older woman in a blue cloak waltzes out. She looks me over with a smirk on her face. "It is always nice when magic works out like it should," she laughs before she walks past me and down the hall. I can see my father standing in his office with a concerned look on his face. When he notices that I am standing in his doorway he gestures for me to enter. Sitting down on the chair across from my father, I let out a heavy sigh. My body is sore and I know it is because I am feeling Keena's pain through the mate bond. I will have to convince my father to let someone heal her because the dull ache in my body is becoming too much to bear. My father takes his seat behind his desk and the conc

Chapter 40
WARD "The dungeons are in the basement of the pack house," King Erebus informs me. "It may not be difficult to cross the borders undetected but getting into the pack house will be difficult." "What do we know about the dungeons?" I ask, wondering if there is a separate entrance. "Unfortunately," the King furrows his eyebrows in frustration, "I don't know much more than what I have already told you." Turning the monitor of the computer in my direction, I click through the floor plans of the Crescent Moon pack house. Frowning when I get to the basement and I notice that the plans are incomplete. "Do you think that you are able to get in with the information that I have provided you with?" The King interrupts my thoughts. "I cannot promise that there won't be any casualties," I warn him. "It will be difficult not to kill those that are in my way." "If we can prove that she was taken against her will, I don't care how many people you kill in order to get her back," the
