Chapter 21
JAREK Lying in bed I toss a football up and down in the air, trying not to think about the Princess. Her perfect full lips and bright green eyes haunt my dreams both day and night. If I don't stay away from her, it won't be long until my wolf convinces me to accept the mate bond. He has never wanted anything more than he wants Keena. 'She isn't our type,' I try to explain to my wolf but he isn't listening. He just keeps flashing pictures of her through my mind. 'She is my type,' Kane growls loudly in my head. 'How can she be your type when she doesn't have a wolf. She would never be able to mark us in return.' I groan as I get to my feet. My dick is throbbing against my jeans as I think about marking Keena. Even my body is betraying me. As I walk into my bathroom to take an ice cold shower I hear the blaring of the horns off in the distance. I look out of the small window in my bathroom and see warriors running from their houses towards the Royal Mansion. 'We mu

Chapter 22
KEENA "I wasn't talking to you," Faris snarls at me as he stalks across the room towards Ward. Ward doesn't even lift his hands to defend himself. He simply stands up straight and waits for the next blow to come from Faris. Balling his fists up at his side, Faris punches Ward across the face. Ward's head snaps to the side and a trickle of blood drips down his chin. Ward doesn't say a word to Faris. He only continues to accept the brutal beating that Faris is giving him. Eventually, Ward sways on his feet and falls to the ground with a loud thud but that doesn't stop Faris. He hopes on top of Ward's body and continues to land blow after blow onto Ward's face. "You were supposed to protect her," Faris growls between punches. "Not let her walk out into the middle of a rogue fight." I stand in shock as I watch Ward's face get more swollen and bloodier with each strike Faris takes. Panic rises in my throat and I realize that Faris won't stop until Ward is dead. "Faris,"

Chapter 23
KEENA "We are going to have to shave part of your head to put in the stitches," the doctor tells me. Hopping out of my hospital bed, I back myself up against the wall and shake my head angrily. "You are not shaving my head. There has to be another way." "I am sorry, Princess," the doctor inches toward me with a pair of clippers. "Take another step and I will scream," I warn him, and the doctor takes several steps back. "There has to be another way," I groan as the headache intensifies. The doctor begins to inch his way towards me again. "Princess," his voice is calm and collected. "You are still bleeding. We need to stop the bleeding." I am holding a gauze to my head and I give the doctor a ridiculous look before saying, "duh." Suddenly my mother comes bursting through my hospital door with Ward at her side. I smile brightly when I see him but that smile falters when I see how badly his face is still bruised. As quickly as I can I move behind my mother and War

Chapter 24
JAREKI pace the floor as I wait for my father to pick up my phone call. The ringing sound coming through the speaker of my phone is making me angry. Silently, I dare him to ignore my phone call. I will drive to Crescent Moon and kill him myself, but not after I torture him for the truth. No one tries to kidnap my mate. Finally the ringing stops and my fathers grumpy voice comes through the phone. "Now isn't a good time," my father grumbles. I can't help the growl that escapes my lips. "Why not?" "It's just not a good time," my father repeats. "Because the rogue attack on the royal mansion didn't manage to get you the Princess?" I snarl through the phone. My father tries to sound offended but I know him too well. That scoff is the sound he makes when he has been caught in a lie. "There was another attack on the royal mansion?" He attempts to sound innocent. "Don't play stupid with me," I yell through the phone. "I caught one of your rogues and easily got the tru

Chapter 25
WARD I stand in my usual spot in Keena's room and glare at Jarek as I walk by him to follow the King down to his office. Jarek glares back at me and I vow to myself that I will be the one to kill this arrogant Alpha. I don't care what it means for me later on down the road. He will die by my hands. Bumping into Jarek's shoulder as I pass him, he lets out a loud snarl and lunges for my throat. "Is this really where you want to die, Pretty Boy," I growl at him as I push him to the ground with one of my hands. "Enough!" King Erebus roars and he throws his Alpha King aura over the room. I stand at attention awaiting instructions but I can see Jarek fighting against the command trying to get to me once again. "Jarek," I hear Keena whispering to him. "Just go with my father, please." Jarek gets to his feet and stands silently beside me. "There will be no more fighting until we get this sorted," the King commands us both. "Do you both understand me?" "Yes, Your Highness

Chapter 26
KEENAWith my head buried in my pillow I let out a childish scream. I know both Jarek and Ward heard me from outside of my room but I don't care. The delicious scent of peppermint fills my nose but it is not enough to calm the nerves that are raging inside me. Not even an hour ago my lips were pressed against Ward's and now my mate has decided that he wants me. Why does everything have to be so complicated? The sound of my door opening breaks me out of my self loathing. Taking my head out of the pillow I raise it to see my mother standing in the doorway with a concerned look on her face. She is dressed in her normal jeans and t-shirt that drives my father insane, but she still manages to get away with wearing them. Gracefully she walks into my room and offers me a gentle smile. "Hey," I say as tears begin to fall from my eyes. My mother moves quickly to my side and holds me in her arms. "I am assuming that you don't know what you are going to do," she says as she gently st

Chapter 27
KEENA Stepping out of the shower I wrap my towel tightly around my body. Pressing my ear to the door that sits between my bedroom and bathroom. Luckily it is silent on the other side. Hopefully Jarek has gone home. Wrapping a towel around my head, I hum a little song to myself while I stare in the mirror and begin my skin care routine. As I am rubbing my skin with lotion someone beats on the bathroom door, causing me to jump in where I sit. I swallow the lump that has formed in the back of my throat. "Yes?" I call out. "Come back out here," Jarek's voice calls through the door. "We have more to talk about." My heart sinks when I hear Jarek's voice and I can't help but feel confused. Shouldn't hearing my mate's voice cause tingles and happiness to spread through my body. Instead hearing his voice now causes a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. "Hurry up," Jarek commands through the door. "I don't want to be here all night." Leaving my skincare routine for

KEENA"Now it is time to do something about that bodyguard," Jarek tells me as he grabs me by the hand and drags me out of my bedroom. He doesn't give me time to protest. Jarek is walking so quickly that I stumble over my feet trying to keep up with him. Before I know it I am standing outside of my father's office. My palms are sweating and my chest is pounding. I don't want to do this. Jarek lets go of my hand and wipes his hand on his jeans. "Why are you so sweaty?" He grumbles angrily before knocking on my father's office door. "I am just nervous," I admit. "You want to make me happy don't you," he hisses at me and my heart sinks. I do want to make him happy but not like this. Impatiently, Jarek knocks loudly again on my father's office door. This time my father gruffly yells, "enter." Jarek swings my father's office door open and drags me inside. Tears are already beginning to prickle at the corner of my eyes. My father lifts his head and scowls as he looks fr

Chapter 29
JAREK Wiping the beads of sweat from my forehead, I head for the front door of the royal mansion. I should have known better than to try and challenge the Alpha King, but I know that Keena will buckle under her father's pressure and tell him the truth. If she tells him the truth it will ruin any chance that I have at getting her away from the Lycan City and back to my pack. I know that is what my father had in mind when he told me to make things right. He wants to use the Princess for leverage to get the amulet. Kane is pacing back and forth in my mind. He has grown soft when it comes to the Princess and doesn't want to follow our father's orders. I have to keep reminding him that it is just the mate bond making him feel this way. Once she accepts the rejection we will be free to find a Luna that is worthy of the title. Not some wolfless freak. 'You were too rough with her,' Kane huffs in my house. "We need to be kind to our mate.' 'She is only our mate until we get

Chapter 30
KEENAKayla and I flop down on my bed. As we turn towards one another, I let out a sigh of relief. I have wanted to see Kayla for days now. "I've missed you," I whisper to her. "I have missed you so much." "Not as much as I have missed you," Kayla says as she wraps her arms around me. "Now dish. What is going on between you and Jarek?" Rolling over onto my back I hold up my hand that Jarek practically crushed in my father's office. Bruises are beginning to form beneath my skin. How do I tell my best friend that my mate accepted me but I think he only wants to hurt me in return? Kayla looks up at my hand and gasps out loudly. "What happened to your hand?""Jarek got a little too excited in my father's office and squeezed it a little too hard." I don't know why I am lying to Kayla. I think that, maybe, the truth is too difficult to say out loud. "I think he forgets that I am not a werewolf." "Keena," Kayla whispers my name. "This looks like more than just a tight squ
