Familiar voice
Author's POV Alvin apologised to Nora and dressed up in less than five minutes before he walked to the door and opened it. Mr Lyam was standing there, his eyes darting around as he tried to force his vision into the room. Alvin was leaning at the door frame and still had the door open; and he suddenly pushed Mr Lyam the moment he realised what he was trying to do. “Why are you here?“ Alvin angrily demanded. Mr Lyam looked at his master's face, then stepped his feet on the ground like he was standing at attention. “Bonjour, boss!“ “The morning wouldn't be good if you don't tell me why you're here at this moment,” Alvin snapped. Mr Lyam looked up at his face since he was far shorter than Alvin. “You look happy, master—happier than you've been in a long time. If I may ask: what is the cause of your happiness? I just want to know so I can do it if you ever go sad again.“ Alvin gritted his teeth and shut the door with anger. “I asked you a question, Mr Lyam! Why are you knocking o

Start talking
Author's POV After Alvin heard his father's call for the second time; he began to panic because he knew Nora couldn't have gotten out of the house yet. And he couldn't imagine them both being together alone for a second. He hurriedly opened his door and went to his wardrobe to find a new mask to wear. He wore the mask and stepped out of the room. Alvin felt his legs heavy under him as he descended the staircase. He sighed in frustration and ran his hands over his hair. Only God knows why his father was here at this time of the day. Alvin finally reached the sitting room. But he couldn't see anybody in sight. He was about to run out to look for Nora or a staff member who could explain what was going on when he heard someone clear his throat. His gaze darted to the end of his room, and he saw with surprise and disbelief that his father and Nora were seated across each other in the dining room and they had food spread on the table. He slowly approached them, his heart beating lo

The truth
Catherine's POV I heard low noises around me as I woke up. My eyes squinted in pain as I tried to make out anything in my surroundings. I started to move my hands so I could stretch but the pain brought me back. I let my head fall back on the bed and closed my eyes; thinking this was just a bad dream. But the reality of it was starting to take a grip on me. And I suddenly noticed even when I was too weak to raise my hands that a bandage was tied over my head. I completely closed my eyes to try ro remember what happened; And it suddenly opened the moment I recalled that David was the cause of it. The last thing I remember was him pushing me harshly to the wall behind him… and then: Blank! I felt a teardrop cascade down my cheeks. I'm just starting to realise the gravity of what I've done; maybe I should've left when he told me to. My fingers managed to move and touched the cloth I was wearing. And with dejection, I saw it was made of cotton—not exactly what I had been wearing

Caught
Nora's POV I quietly listened to Alvin's story and watched his expression change from grief to dejection to hatred and anger as he told it. Then finally, he stopped. And I didn't have to look at his eyes to know that he had gotten to the end. My hands started to shake on the table and I eventually brought it down to my sides. Every single word he said was digesting gradually in my brain and I was starting to feel it would be much to carry—maybe I shouldn't have forced him to say the truth, afterall. I closed my eyes, breathing in and out. But the next second, I hurriedly opened them because I was starting to see everything he said even when I hadn't witnessed any of it. If Alvin's story was true—which I believed it was; then that would mean the pain I had gone through in my life was little compared to his. His voice had cracked at some parts as he explained how dejected and frustrated he had felt and the way his mother started to treat him like he was an old and useless doll p

Uncertainty
Author's POV Mr Lyam's eyes were wide open in disbelief and he slowly started to step backwards while his eyes moved from Alvin to Nora. “I—I should…” he stammered. Alvin swept his hands over his hair, in loss of what to do. “Why are you even here?“ “The…” Mr Lyam was looking at Nora's back as he answered, obviously trying to check if he had imagined what he saw. Nora's face was red in embarrassment and she slowly started walking back to the dining room without looking back when she suddenly heard what the butler said next. “The police are here.“ Nora froze still. Her heart flew into the air as she started to wonder the reason for the cops being here. Could it be because of her? Maybe Alvin's father had gone to make stories to the police because he thought she'd go and report him first if he didn't. Or maybe David knew Alvin's house since they had been schoolmates and he came with the police after telling them that Alvin wrongfully abducted her. Alvin was a little shocked at

Trying their luck
Mr Miller lied on a big king-sized bed with two half-naked women rubbing his belly. From time to time, he hit each of their asses harshly and took a sip of the Billionaire Vodka drink beside the bed. He was in the most expensive hotel in Los Angeles with three of his close friends and business partners. They had all come here an hour ago to splash some amounts off their endless money after he left Alvin's house. Mr Miller had a stern and serious expression on his face even though he was supposed to be enjoying the moment with the two girls. It seemed there was something bothering him as he occasionally sighed and shook his head. “Aren't you enjoying the moment, master?“ asked one of the girls who he had rented for a hundred-thousand each so they could distract him. Mr Miller didn't answer her. There was nobody at the club he picked them from that didn't know him as the famous mafia Don Andrew Miller—and they also knew he had a rule that nobody speaks to him before he does.

Sins and punishments
Raven's black Mercedes car drove into the Scorpion house in Los Angeles. It was one of late Gomez Waxson's properties in America; the man was wise enough to invest in houses in some of California's busiest cities. Raven parked the car under the Carport and and jumped out of the driver's seat with contempt and rage in his eyes. He walked over to the back seat and forcefully dragged two members of the Scorpions who were seated there before he ordered them to carry-out the one that was shot. The Scorpions had been watching the movement of Don Miller's family since they moved to their base in Los Angeles two days ago. Raven had gotten information from one of the hotel employees where Mr Miller had Lodged and had arranged three men to go with him to try their luck. And now; one of them was shot in the neck. Raven grunted as the two other guys carefully carried the shot one out of the car. They hadn't stopped to tie his bleeding or apply any meditation so his blood was all over the b

What are we?
Alvin's POV I was in a room with Nora in a police station in Los Angeles. Mr Lyam was some feets outside the room and I heard him speak with a mixture of French and English to the policemen. We had been here for about thirty minutes now and nothing seemed to be happening. They had refused to tell me why I was here without calling My father first. And I was starting to get really scared. What could be the reason? Did anything happen in my company in the days I haven't been there or it was because of Nora? I looked at her at the end of the room as I thought of her. She had been quiet since we were put inside this room; It seemed she also didn't know what to say just like me. I still can't believe that she insisted she would come with me because I'm her boss and boyfriend at the same time. A part of me continued to think of what we were talking about before the police came. I closed my eyes, thinking of how my father would react if he came here. Today is one of the worst days of

Footage
Alvin's POV My father first walked to meet the people that were about twenty who were seated in the room. He sat on one of the chairs and glanced back at me. I didn't need to think to know what that meant. My gaze moved over to Nora who had her mouth slightly open like she was also in shock. I saw her swallow her saliva and look over to me before she also moved forward. There were up to fifteen cops or more in the room; including the ones who had come over to my house. Then there were four unfamiliar faces with the maid who had gone mad in the kitchen last night. I kept standing and looking at her, my legs refusing to move even a bit. “Why is he masked?“ I heard someone ask. And I saw the paleness on Nora's face at that moment. “Alvin!“ My father suddenly yelled, obviously because I was starting to waste his time with my standing. I finally managed to move forward and stood beside my father, my eyes avoiding that of the maid. Today is the first time I really felt glad that I

Chapter 60
Nora's POV Mr Lyam brought a tape which had the footage approximately five minutes later and put it on Alvin's hands before bowing slightly and moving towards the door. I was looking with shock and disbelief at Alvin. Why hadn't he requested for the footage sooner and made us go through such a strenuous and frustrating argument? Alvin dropped the tape on the table in front of Captain Bob and I really wished I could see his expression at that moment. My gaze darted to Mr Miller and I saw the anger blazing in his eyes. It was obvious that even he was angry about the fact that his son had something that could have taken them out of that room the moment they stepped in but is only bringing it out now. “What is this?“ asked Captain Bob, his eyes darting in nervousness. I knew from the moment he started talking that he desperately wanted it to be true that Alvin was actually guilty of what he was being accused of. “Isn't it obvious?“ I heard Alvin mutter. I was secretly looking at
