Chapter 31- I Don't Think You Should Be Alone Right Now
Amberleigh watched Leo and Grayson going back and forth for another minute or two in their argument. She took a deep breath and tried to mentally prepare herself, to figure out the right words to say. Cori was like a fly on the wall, sinking into the background, cleaning up the area, and trying to stay out of the way. But if Giovanni Costa trusted her and her family to keep secrets, then so did Amber. Besides it was a little too fucking late to worry about that now anyway.Amber cleared her throat, “I need to tell you both something. I think you should sit down for this Grayson. It’s not easy to say.”Her eyes were already burning. Both men turned to look at her, though Leo’s expression was less hostile than the scowl on the billionaire’s face. Even Grayson’s body language interpretated he wasn’t open to listening to her. But she would not be intimidated or back down.“The decision has already been made. You are not moving back into the penthouse under any circumstances so there’s no

Chapter 32- You're Not Fucking Her!
Amberleigh wasn’t above using the baby card as Grayson had done over and over lately. It did seem to soften him like butter in her hands. She could see the way his throat bobbed with the force of his swallow and hear the way his words came out softer.“All the more reason to keep you, Leo, and baby far away from this fucked up mess. You’ve seen what these people are capable of Amber.”“All the more reason for us to stick together Grayson. United we stand, divided we fall. Keep your enemies close right?”“I’m not going to agree to this. I won’t allow you to put yourself and our baby in harm’s way. No, I’ll return to Courtney. Feed her some story about the kidnappers letting me go in the park. I’ll upgrade the security system in the penthouse. And I’ll watch her like a fucking hawk. She’s bound to slip up sometime, especially since she’ll think the kidnappers fucked her and Hugo over. Desperate and angry people make mistakes. And it may just help me get to the bottom of this business a

Chapter 33- Let Bygones Be Bygones?
Amberleigh wouldn’t say that Leo was a pushover exactly, but the chef had a problem telling her no and was often easy to convince of things that she suggested. Just like with Grayson, Leo certainly didn’t like the idea of her moving back into the penthouse. But he also knew Amber well enough by now, that she wouldn’t change her mind. Arguing with her would be a waste of time. He just accepted it as a fact as soon as she told him their plans to return to Grayson’s high-rise under the guise of a fucked over kidnapping and post an emergency appendectomy. Grayson insisted that Leo take it slow as the chef was immediately ready to get dressed and get the hell out of dodge. But first things first, Leo would need to get up for the first time since his surgery without falling and Amber and Grayson needed a learning session with Cori on how to take care of L-Dawg. Because the home health nurse or the Doc wouldn’t be able to care for Leo 24/7, so it would fall to his penthouse

Chapter 34- We Don't Know Who We Can Trust
Amberleigh decided to be the one with the bigger balls in the room and extend the olive branch so to speak. She held out her hand towards the surly billionaire. “I, Amberleigh Dubois, do solemnly swear to let past grievance go and try to the best of my ability to not hold any grudges or throw the past in Grayson Andre Godwin’s face.” Grayson scoffed and hesitated. He left Amber hanging a bit. Leo cleared his throat and narrowed his eyes at his friend. “This is ridiculous,” said Grayson through gritted teeth, “but fine!” He shook Amber’s hand quickly. “Say it. You must say the words to make it count,” she said. “I, Grayson Godwin do solemnly swear to the best of my ability to let past grievances go and not throw the past in Amberleigh Dubois’ face. There I said it. Are you happy?” “Close enough. And I will be happy. After I get some more coffee and that bastard and his cunt spawn are in prison getting where they belong.” “No more caffeine. Our baby will be born addicted to that

Chapter 35- Unwelcome Home
It went without saying that Giovanni did not like his daughter’s plan to move into the penthouse with the evil woman out to become the sole heir to The Godwin fortune. He voiced his concerns for her safety and that of the rightful unborn heir inside her belly. Grayson broke his brooding silence to lay out the plan and vow to keep Amber and the baby safe. Leo made the same vow, and Giovanni would certainly be holding them both to it. He also reminded his daughter she could contact him anytime she needed help and extended that invitation to Leo and Grayson as well. Like he was the neighborhood friendly drug dealer out to do the occasional good deed for those he cared for. It seemed he now considered Grayson and Leo a member of the family. Amber tried to steel herself and fight down the moment of panic when they first pulled into the back lot of Preeminence Tower. She wasn’t afraid of the cunt per say, but rather of her nasty connections if Amber fucked this up. She was extra emotional

Chapter 36- You'll Always Have A Home Here
Amberleigh and Grayson found Leo right where they’d left him in the back hallway with the bags scattered around his feet. Grayson immediately bent down to help his friend up from the bench when Amber crossed her arms and shot the billionaire an icy gaze.“I take it by the lack of screaming it went well,” said Leo.“As well as can be expected. Let’s get you to your room Leo. The nurse is due to arrive in an hour,” said Grayson.“Should you be doing that? Lifting him up with a broken rib?” asked Amber. He sighed as Leo gave him a concerned look.“Those bastards busted up your face and broke your rib? Why didn’t you tell me that?” asked Leo.“Oh, he didn’t tell me that either Leo. Anything else you’re hiding Grayson?”“Actually, I have two cracked ribs and a hairline fracture to my left cheekbone. My right eye socket is also cracked. All of which will heal on their own. Nothing to make a fuss over especially compared to what Leo is going through. It’s not important. Nothing ice and time

Chapter 37- Some Pain Is Meant To Be Felt
Leo napped for most of the evening as Amberleigh started to feel cabin fever while cooped up in his room. The fact Grayson was out there with his cunt wife who wanted him dead didn’t help matters. Amber knew the heiress was unlikely to make another move against her husband so soon or with so many witnesses present, but still she couldn’t help but be anxious as fuck.To pass the time she alternated between watching Leo sleep and scrolling social media. Usually, she could cheer herself up by trolling the pages of the girls who worked at The Cobra Club. But none of them came through with any scandalous post which had incited comment cat fights for her viewing pleasure. She hesitated on Ebony’s page. Now was as good as time as any to try and fix things with the only true friend Amber had left. A couple days ago Ebony had confronted Amber at The Cobra Club, hurt Amber hadn’t told her she was back in town. They got into an argument and Amber walked away leaving things so fucked up between t

Chapter 38- Just What The Doctor Ordered
Grayson’s words left Amberleigh with even more anxiety over the billionaire’s state of mind and the trauma he’d suffered. She was sure the emotional aspects of what they’d went through was sure to hit Leo soon as well, but the chef would be more open to talking about it. His willingness and transparency would help Leo heal by working through his feelings rather than bottling them up inside. Leo seemed to be the one who needed to be handled with more care because of his sensitivity. Fragile things seemed more likely to shatter. But things made of stone were harder to put back together when they did finally break. Amber and Grayson weren’t so adept about allowing those types of feelings to the surface to be dealt with rather than just letting them simmer inside until they exploded. In her past, she’d try and cope in unhealthy ways such as the drugs. Grayson drank to numb his pain or refused to feel it at all. So, Amberleigh made it a point to do more than one kind of keeping an eye o

Chapter 39- Empty Promise?
Surprisingly, Amberleigh was able to fall asleep quite easily that night as was Leo beside her. The two orgasms they’d given each other during Leo’s sponge bath probably had a lot to do with that. When Amber’s bladder awoken her a couple hours until sunrise, she was startled to see an outline sitting in Leo’s desk chair in the soft glow of the Himalayan Salt lamp. But she recognized the shape of the intruder as she knew his body well, better than his heart or mind. In many ways Grayson Godwin was still a mysteryShe clutched her chest and stifled her scream, “Grayson what the hell? You trying to give me a heart attack?”“Of course not. I just thought Leo should be kept an eye on his first night home in case some kind of complications arise.”She threw back the covers and worked out the kinks in her body. Her bladder warned her to get a fucking move on it as it was growing impatient. But she looked down at the sleeping man beside her and a relieved smile touched her lips. No blood on h

Chapter 40- Not To Me, You Aren't
Finally, a couple hours after sunrise, Amberleigh slipped out of Leo’s bed, and after a pit stop to relieve herself, she made her way towards the kitchen. Leo was normally an early riser, but he was caught in a medicated sleep and his body still needed the extra rest. Amber had tucked him in and went about her business quietly as not to wake him just yet. She had about another hour until his morning antibiotics were due and she was feeling confident she could handle the job. But first she needed coffee. She took her bottle of ginger supplements with her towards the kitchen as she had no intentions of asking the cunt’s chef to prepare her anti-nausea tea. She heard voices echoing from the dining room. It made sense that Grayson wouldn’t dine in the breakfast nook in the kitchen while he was entertaining guests, even unwelcomed ones at that. Amber made her way to the fancy coffee maker to make herself a cup. The smell of the breakfast Francois had cooked still lingered in the air makin
