chapter twenty
I sat on the couch, my mind still reeling from the news that Xefora was disbanding. I couldn't believe it was happening. I had put so much time and energy into the band, and now it was all falling apart.Feeling overwhelmed, I picked up my phone and dialed Iris' number. I needed to talk to someone. Someone who would understand what I was going through."Hey, Iris," I said as soon as she answered. "Can I come to see you? I need to talk to someone.""Of course, Felix," Iris replied. "What's going on? Is everything okay?"I sighed heavily, unsure of where to start. "It's Xefora," I began. "We got some news today that we're disbanding. It's all over.""Oh no, Felix," Iris said sympathetically. "I'm so sorry to hear that. Of course, you can come over. I'm here for you."I let out a breath I  didn't know I was holding. It was comforting to know that Iris was there for me. "Thanks, Iris," he said. "I'll be there tomorrow morning."_________________

I felt overjoyed as I watched Felix run around the yard, chasing after the playful dog, Isla's family pet. Seeing Felix's face light up in pure happiness brought a smile to my face. It's been a while since I saw him this carefree, and it made me feel so happy to be with him.I decided to join in the fun and ran with the two boys, laughing as they playfully chased each other. Felix was always so full of energy, and it was contagious. I felt grateful for moments like this, where we could just let loose and enjoy each other's company. As we took a break, Felix playfully ruffled my hair, and I couldn't help but laugh at his silly antics. We both caught our breath and sat on the grass, enjoying the warmth of the sun on our skin.Looking at Felix, I felt a wave of fondness and admiration for him. He was strong and resilient, even in the face of his parent's disapproval. I hoped that he would find a way to pursue his dreams and make himself happy.ISLA'S P

Nathan and I were walking together in a park when she decided to bring up the topic of Isla."So, Nathan, what do you think about Isla?" I asked, trying to keep her tone casual.Nathan looked at me quizzically. "What do you mean?" he asked."I mean, what do you think of her as a person?" I clarified. "Do you think she's a good friend?"Nathan nodded. "Yeah, of course. Isla's been my friend for a long time, and she's always been there for me. I appreciate her a lot."I smiled, feeling relieved. "That's good to hear. And what about her looks? Do you find her attractive?"Nathan's cheeks flushed slightly, but he kept his composure. "Well, I think Isla has a very pretty face. It's kind of angelic, you know?"I grinned, feeling giddy at the thought that Nathan found Isla attractive. I decided to push a little further. "Have you ever thought about Isla in a romantic way?"Nathan's expression grew serious. "I don't want to ruin our friendship, Iris. Isla mea

As I looked out the window of the car, I felt a tinge of sadness in my chest. I had grown accustomed to the quiet and peaceful life in the suburb, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I also enjoyed spending time with Isla and our family and seeing Felix happy playing with our younger cousins. But now, we were heading back to the reality of their city lives. I knew that school and other responsibilities awaited me, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of dread. However, I also felt grateful for the time I had spent in the suburb, and the memories she had made with Isla, Felix, and our families.I turned to Isla, who was sitting beside me and smiled. Despite the bittersweet feeling of leaving, I was glad to have shared this experience with her cousin. We talked about their favorite moments of the trip and promised to visit the suburb again soon.As the car entered the city limits, I took a deep breath and prepared myself for the busy day

As Isla's best friend and cousin, I was devastated when I read the results of her tests. Leukemia. The word echoed in my head, a dark and ominous cloud looming over everything. It was difficult to process the fact that my cousin was facing a serious illness. All I wanted to do was hold her and tell her that everything was going to be okay, even though I knew deep down that it wasn't going to be that easy. But I also knew that Isla was a strong person and that she had a lot of people who loved and cared for her. I vowed to be there for her every step of the way, no matter what the future held.I sat there, feeling helpless as I listened to Isla's sobs coming from the other side of the door. My heart ached for her, and I wished that there was something I could do to take away her pain. But I knew

FELIX'S POINT OF VIEWI walked through the front door of my house, feeling a sense of relief at being back home. I had been away for a week, trying to clear my head and figure out what I wanted to do with my life. But as soon as I stepped inside, I knew that things were not going to be easy.My father was waiting for me in the living room, his arms crossed and his expression stern. "Where have you been?" he demanded.I hesitated, unsure of how to respond. I knew that I had left without telling anyone, but I had hoped that my family would understand that I needed some time to myself. My father was not happy about my decision."I needed to get away for a while," I said, trying to keep my voice calm. "I needed some space to think.""You can't just disappear for a week without telling anyone," my father said, his voice rising. "We were worried sick about you.""I'm sorry," I said, feeling a sense of guilt wash over me. "I didn't mean to cause yo

FELIX'S POINT OF VIEWI heard the sound of the front door opening and closing, followed by the sound of footsteps. I looked up from my book and saw my brother, Jake, standing in the doorway with a big grin on his face. I couldn't believe it - he was finally back from Australia after all these years.I quickly got up from my chair and walked over to him, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. We hadn't seen each other in so long, and I wasn't sure what to expect. But as soon as I saw his familiar face, all my worries melted away."Hey, little bro," Jake said, pulling me into a hug. "It's so good to see you.""It's good to see you too," I replied, feeling a lump form in my throat. "I've missed you so much."We spent the next few hours catching up and reminiscing about old times. Jake told me all about his adventures in Australia, and I shared stories about what had been going on in my life. It was like no time had passed at all - we fell right back i

As we walked into Isla's hospital room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of sadness wash over me. It was hard to see my cousin lying in the hospital bed, clearly in pain. But I knew that we were here to help her forget about that pain, even if just for a little while. Max and I had planned this girls' night out for days, hoping to provide a much-needed distraction for Isla. Max had brought a variety of snacks, while I had picked out a movie that I knew we would all enjoy. As we settled in, I could see Isla's eyes light up with excitement. For a few hours, we forgot about the hospital room and the IVs, and the pain. We laughed at the silly scenes in the movie and munched on chips and popcorn. Isla even forgot about her nausea and ate more than we had seen her eat in weeks. As the night wore on, I knew that we couldn't make Isla's pain disappear entirely. But for a little while, we had given her a break from it. And at that moment, that was all that mattered.I sat down next to

As I made my way down the hallway of the hospital toward Isla's room, I heard a sudden commotion coming from around the corner. As I turned the corner, I bumped into someone, sending the tray of food I was carrying tumbling to the ground."I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed, quickly bending down to pick up the spilled food."No worries, let me help you with that," a kind voice said, as a hand reached down to help me.I looked up to see a tall, handsome man with kind eyes and a warm smile. "Thank you," I said, smiling back at him."Are you okay?" he asked, looking concerned."Yeah, I'm fine. I was just on my way to see my cousin Isla," I replied."Isla? I know her, Jake," the man said, extending his hand."Iris," I replied, shaking his hand.As we stood up, I couldn't help but feel a little flustered by how attractive and charming the doctor was. But I quickly pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the task at hand - getting Isl

As I woke up feeling exhausted and dizzy, memories of the previous night came flooding back. I remembered dancing and drinking with Felix and their friends and then getting into a fight with a man who tried to hit on me. I felt embarrassed and ashamed of my behavior, but at the same time, I couldn't help feeling giddy about making out with Felix inside his car.As I got up from bed, I noticed a text message from Felix that read, "Hey, are you feeling okay? Let me know if you need anything." I smiled, feeling comforted by his concern.I replied to his message, "I'm okay, just a little hungover. Thanks for asking." I couldn't help but feel grateful for having someone like Felix in my life, who cared about me even after a crazy night like the one we had.Felix quickly responded, "Glad to hear you're okay. Want me to bring you some coffee or breakfast?"I smiled at his kindness. "That would be great, thank you."I got up and tried to freshen up, still feelin
