Chapter 11
When I arrived, the hospital floor that held Logan was a mess. Doctors barked orders as they tried to knock him out with drugs, but he wouldn’t let anyone close to him. Not even Red.“V, thank goodness you’re here.” Melody said through pants. “He has gone mad.”“Stay here.” An order. “I don’t want you and the baby getting hurt. I’ll take care of this.”“Okay.” she agreed, wrapping her hands around her belly.A string of colorful words escaped my lips when Logan flung Hannah across the hall like she was a doll. I went over to where she was and helped her up.“Are you okay?”She nodded. “I’m fine.” She glanced at Logan. “I think that ichor has boosted his strength. He is unstoppable.”“Logan.” I heard Red say, with tears drifting down her cheeks. “Logan, stop. Please. You’re hurting everyone.”“Quiet!” he roared, shoving her aside when his eyes landed on me. “You,” He pointed in my direction. “I’ve been waiting for you.”“Logan, calm down.” I said, slowly advancing toward him. “You need

“V?” I felt a hand gently try to wake me. “V?”I slapped the hand away and a chuckle followed. It was Mavros.“I’ll kiss you if you don’t get up in the next three seconds.”Jokes on him. I haven’t brushed my teeth.“One.” his fingers trailed across my face. “Two,” he continued. “Three.”My eyes shot open and I placed my hand over his mouth when I saw his lips were literally centimeters away from mine. Without speaking a word, I bolted out of his room. To my displeasure, I bumped into Drake as soon as I left.“Val, what were you doing in there?” he questioned, eyeing me weirdly.“I, um,” I scratched the back of my neck nervously. “Well, I…”“We slept in the same room.” Mavros revealed as he came out of his room.I bit my lower lip and wished the ground would open up and swallow me whole to save me from this firsthand embarrassment.“Really?” Drake seemed to be amazed. “Val, you could have just said so.” He said coolly. “I went to your room earlier to tell you that Azura is here. She’s

Chapter 13
The sky had turned from a beautiful blue with white clouds to a reddish orange, signifying it was evening. As I drove to the hospital, thoughts about Zariya made a home in my mind. The fear of what she could do bugged me continuously, and I hated it. I shook my head to shake the thought off and concentrated on the road ahead. I’d hate to hit an animal or worse, a person.I parked the car and went into the hospital to check on Red and Logan. Red had refused to come home since what happened to Logan. She often slept in the hospital and Maya and Melody took turns in coming to stay with her and try to distract her from her worries. It was safe to say Ared was a mess.I entered Logan’s hospital room and shut the door behind me. As expected, Red rested her head on the bed whilst she held her mate’s hand. The sleeping position was uncomfortable even for me who was watching. I wondered if I should wake her up. I did not know if she had slept last night.I let her be and sat on one chair. Trut

Chapter 14
Golden rays seeped through the curtains, telling me it was morning and that I had to get out of bed and train my pack. Despite the goddess's promise of no war, we needed to be fit. Once I was done with my preparation, I jogged down the stairs, went into the kitchen, and poured myself a glass of apple juice to begin my day. Then I headed out of the house to join my pack at the training grounds.Hundreds of men and women had gathered and were in lines. We usually started that way to enable easy picking of partners. Unfortunately, Mavros was early and had already gotten himself a spot beside Melody, Drake, Carter and Maya. He must have felt me staring because he looked in my direction. I tore my eyes away from him immediately. I still wasn’t over what happened yesterday.“Attention.” Melody said when she saw me. All heads bowed as I walked to the front of the lines they had created. “Good morning to you all.”“Good morning, Alpha.” They chorused.“Today we will continu

Everything hurt. My body and my heart hurt. My heart was heavy with pain and guilt, whilst my body cried from pain. I’d done a lot more damage to Zariya, so why was I the one in an immense amount of pain? Still too tired to open my eyes, I focused on the sounds and scents around me. Everyone was here. Everyone including Aspro. I’d heard his voice, and he didn’t sound happy. “You let her near Valeria.” He said. I didn’t need to see Aspro to know he was mad. “You failed to protect her despite that being the only reason I asked you to come here.” “She didn’t want my help.” Mavros defended himself, his voice equally portraying anger at his brother’s words. “I couldn’t force her to hide behind me. She is a queen, brother. She can make her own decisions. Valeria knew what she was walking into when she agreed to fight with Zariya. I am not to blame.” “You still failed.” “Stop blaming me.” Mavros hit something and it rang in my ears, adding to my headache. “I didn’t come here because you

It was as if the heavens loved me so much today. Minutes ago, I was thinking about recreating what happened in his room and now; he was asking me to kiss him as a way of showing him how sorry I was. Could it get any better? “Will you do it or-” Before he could complete his sentence, I closed the distance between us by pulling him close to me with his shirt. The way he kissed me differed from the first time, and I was certain it was the same for me. Mavros kissed me like a deprived man who lived off of my kiss. It made my heart swell with joy. Our tongues circled against each other, deepening the kiss until it became primal. I buried my hands in his silky and thick hair, completely lost in the moment. My body burned from his touch, but in a good way. I ran my hands over his back, loving the feel of his tense muscles underneath my fingers. He pulled away from the hungry kiss and planted fervent kisses on my neck, sucking at my skin, too. I trailed my hands down his shirt until I got

MAVROS’ POINT OF VIEW My brother had succeeded in ruining everything and there was absolutely nothing I could do because she refused to listen to me. She did not want to hear my side of the story, which led me to believe she believed my brother more than me. She trusted Aspro more than me because, well; I was always the bad guy. I had done nothing but hurt her, even when I was just doing my job as a god of destruction.Aspro was always the good guy, so she would believe anything that came out of his mouth. I was the awful one who would always be perceived as a liar and a murderer. Might as well live up to what she saw me as.After she left, I teleported myself to the eye of Irithra. I was on a mission there before I returned to check on the woman who never trusted me. The council asked me to get rid of the Irithra ruler, a ruthless half moonwalker, half demon, Zeyra Moon, since her reign was over. Torturing and killing her would help ease the stress I was feeling.“Let me

VALERIA’S POINT OF VIEW day 7 It had been four days since I last saw Mavros and I was worried. Had something happened to him? I hoped not. Even though I was still mad at him, I prayed he was okay. A soft knock on my door pulled me out of my train of thoughts. “V, are you done?” Maya questioned. Today was Hannah’s wedding and I had to be there despite everything that was going on. I wore a pink off shoulder twist Ruched mermaid maxi dress, a small, silver pendant, silver heels and clutch. Prior to the event, I got a new hairdo. My long, black hair was now a pin-straight, shoulder-length blonde with black roots. I liked it. “I’m done.” I opened the door. “How do I look?” Maya’s jaw could have touched the floor, if that was possible. She also wore pink, but a plunge cutout slit maxi dress. Pink was the color for women and for the men, black. “You look stunning.” She put both hands in the pockets of her dress. “Is Mel coming?” “No.” She had been feeling ill for the past

I felt a mix of emotions. Sadness and happiness. I was happy because my best friend had been delivered of a beautiful baby boy. Yes, a boy. Turned out Melody was right about her child’s gender. They named him Dimitri because, according to her, her son reminded her of my brother. Zayne’s middle name was Dimitri. I was sad because I gave in to what Zariya wanted. What I desperately wanted to avoid happened. I had sex with Aspro. In all honesty, I hoped I was barren now. I didn’t want to get pregnant and die after giving birth. “V,” Carter poked his head into my room. “Can we talk?” “Come in.” He came into the room, sat beside me on the bed and intertwined his fingers. “I’m sorry.” He began, “I’m sorry I was an ass to you at the hospital because after what happened yesterday, I realized I was foolish. I came to realize you wouldn’t put Melody in harm’s way. Forgive me for the things I said. It was wrong of me.” I shook my head. “I’m not mad. You said the things yo

When I woke up, I was crying. I slowly sat up and looked around my room. My hands unconsciously wrapped around my tummy at the thought of the goddess. “If you want to live, I must take the life of someone dear to you.” Whose life would she take in exchange for mine? Maya? Melody? Who would it be? I didn’t want to live because someone died for me. I wanted to live without being guilty. “Valeria?” I lifted my eyes to the door when Aspro called my name. “What’s wrong? Why are you crying?” he sat beside me. “Does something hurt?” My heart hurt. I looked at him. “I spoke to Selene. She appeared to me in a dream. Mavros was there, too.” His jaw locked at the mention of his brother. I didn’t care. “She told me I was carrying twins and that they needed a mother, so in exchange for my life, she’d take the life of someone dear to me.” Hot tears drifted down my already wet cheeks. “I don’t want to live someone else’s life, Aspro.” “Shh,”
