Chapter 31

Chapter thirty oneMaeveI couldn't stop thinking about what had happened between Arthur and I the day before. I really didn't want to get involved with him, but he was making things too difficult for me.Him coming into my room during the day when everyone was still outside and anyone could pass by or Alpha Devon could walk into the room at any moment really stressed me out. It was even more worse when he approached me and….I sighed as I placedy hand in my forehead, not wanting to think about it at that moment, or I would stress myself even more. Alpha Devon had already left, because a warrior had come very early to call him. I really didn't know what was going on, but I would find out when I went out. I walked towards the door and pulled it open. It was already after breakfast. I wasn't hungry, so I didn't bother, but I noticed that the number of people that were normally around had reduced. I frowned and walked further into the living room and noticed that it was mostly women a

Chapter 32

Chapter thirty two Maeve Arthur had told everyone to return to their normal duties and not to tell anyone outside the alphas what had happened, because that could result in chaos amongst both the people in the pack house and the ones outside. He also said that he would call everyone back later after thinking for a while. As we were leaving, Arthur had asked me to stay back and that he needed to talk to me. I agreed and told Alpha Devon that I'd meet up with him downstairs. I sighed as I watched Arthur, waiting for him to say what he wanted to. I could tell that he was trying his best to look strong in front of everyone, but I could see that he was scared. "I've heard a lot of stories about you from the other Alphas about how gifted you are when it comes to war strategies and that was why I called you to join us. Please help us in anyway that you can, no matter how little it is. Don't think about the times I've been bothering you and just help me…." He rambled on and I looked aro

Chapter 33

Chapter 33Arthur povI stared up at the roof of my bedroom, my body was starved of sleep but at the same time I couldn't bring myself to close my eyelids. Why did the rogue king have to be coming now? I thought inwardly with a groan. But then I sat up with a sigh escaping my lips, I could feel my entire body shaking with dread of the future? The future of my pack that I was supposed to protect as the Alpha. As my heart was getting heavier I heard the cracking of a door and my eyes immediately shifted over to the only one that lead into the room has Hazel casually walked in, normally it was hard for me to be focused on her house now but there was so much on my mind I wouldn't have been able to even tell if she was on fire at the moment she walked in. So my eyes went over to the window as it looked at the moon in the sky, so it was going to be replaced by the sun meaning that I would need a good night's rest and when I glanced at the wall clock and it told me the hours left for

Chapter 34

Chapter 34Hazel pov I sat on the bed for what felt like I was staring into space and trying to grasp the reality that I was in. Then as my mind had absorbed enough of it like a sponge I grabbed my pillow and we began to punch it furiously. Why don't I ever win?! Since the moment I was born I have been given a head start in life, and yet nothing ever seems to work out for me! Everything I have always seems meaningless and empty, and this marriage was definitely one of those things. "Have you ever thought of finding your own mate?" I repeated my annoying sister's words on my lips, who cares? how is it going to be any better than the alpha of the blood Moon pack? I don't care if the moon goddess takes that is the perfect mate for me I only want the best and not scraps. I kept pushing my pillow until my first actually started to hurt so everything was by my side and lay on the bed tiredly. After a couple of seconds of contemplating if I should go and see my husband I consi

Chapter 35

Maeve pov On the account of the incoming battle that was approaching us every day like an unstoppable tsunami the meeting is about how to tackle the Rogue King became more frequent however as well the most secretive so much so that other members of the pack not even know that such a meeting was being arranged unless they were in attendance. I was being frequently invited to this meetings because of my knowledge in battle and my brilliant strategies and I've been working my head for the past days thinking of the best way that we can go around this battle to secure as few casualties as possible and using as little resources as possible. every time that I explain the potential plan I could hear the moments of approval across the room and it made my heart easier, of course I knew that not everybody was cheering for me in that room but that was understandable enough what really bothered me was a certain person that was looking at me. and as my lips moved and partied with each

Chapter 36

Meave povI rationalize that showing this man too much emotion might come off even more disturbing than showing nothing at all so I kept a straight face as much as I could, cross to my hands together and then asked him casually what he wanted while going through the documents as if I was arranging them. "Why are you suddenly so serious?" he asked with a slight tone of people in Somers point and then I asked him if what he was holding me here for was not something serious in the first place if it wasn't then I could go on with my business without any problems. just as I was about to pass him he gently held me by my arm and pulled me back insisting that whatever he was about to tell me was indeed serious. Naturally I was skeptical and there was this heart of mine that was still beating foolishly despite the fact that it shouldn't be for a man that was married to my sister nevertheless I waited patiently to hear what he would say next. "I feel like we should be having our own persona

Chapter 37

Chapter 37Meave pov I was tapping my feet anxiously against the ground, if there was a way I could escape the situation and I was hoping that the solution would hit me in the face already. but as a casually glanced at the world clock leaning against my chair I knew that the solution was not coming anytime soon or at least not sooner than the person I was expecting and just as the clock struck the door started creaking open and my head snapped it towards his direction as it unveiled Arthur. As always I had to ignore that instant bolts of electricity that short between the two of us the moment we laid eyes on each other after a while it didn't matter how long it was it will run through my entire body like a shivering cold shower and every time it became harder to maintain a straight nonchalant face as if his presence had no effect on me."I'm sorry am I late?" I wish you hadn't come at all, I said inside of my mind but that would be without looking at him I told him that he wasn

Chapters 38

Chapter 38Hazel pov I was looking at the clock with annoying is tapping my feet against the ground as I placed around in the bedroom that me and my husband were supposed to share together I moved from one direction to another like someone that had no site and was trying to grapple onto anything that I could but at the same time I was boiling inside of myself because of all this man was putting me through. I literally looked like the woman that he was obsessing over right now and even better than that I was still somehow more beautiful than her and yet I would find myself throwing myself at him and he would not show the slightest flicker of interest in me but it felt like all she had to do was literally breed in his direction and immediately he was running over her like a lovesick fool. finally I could smell his scent and I move my head in that direction be clear all my face never fallen for a single second as I continue to look at him I could see that the smile that was on his fa

Chapter 39

Chapter 39Arthur pov That night I slept a little uneasy, knowing Hazel I wouldn't be too surprised if she actually lived up to her words because she can be very annoying if she wanted it all and that was what she had been showing me since the moment we got married. So if she said that she was going to make things difficult for me, I could be rest assured that she was telling the truth and she was going to do exactly that. After several minutes of rolling on my back I decided that I was in an argument with her was the most beneficial thing I could do right now for myself because I wasn't looking forward to coming back to any arguments and endless nagging on her side. but at the same time I couldn't cancel the meetings that I was having because the strategies will be broken down and I was able to see if there were any contributions that I could make. She didn't understand any of this and from the looks of things she wasn't even trying to understand either she had already given

Chapter 40

Maeve pov "I heard you have been meeting secretly with Alpha Arthur," I almost choked on my drink when I heard that from Alpha Devon as he came to see me in the study that I've been spending a lot of time in.I had gotten myself a calming cup of cinnamon tea to calm my nerves and then he just had to say that. "when you say it like that it is almost implying as if you are doing something else other than discussing battle strategies," I admitted to him as I returned my tea cup back to its saucer. "Well, are you?" He said and I raised one suspicious eyebrow where are all of these questions stemming from today. "I believe that I am doing what I am required to and nothing else other than that unless there is reason to believe otherwise," I said cautiously as I tried to flip through the book that I had been studying earlier with the same casually as before even though I could feel my movements becoming rigid and stiff ever since that statement. After that he didn't say anything, he
