Evelyn Rodriguez sat up abruptly, squinting her eyes protecting them from the blinding daylight sun. She looked around scanning the room in confusion trying to identify anything familiar. She had no recollection of where she was. Last she remembered was being at a bar, celebrating her BFF's birthday, now she was in a king-size bed in God knows where. She held her head with both hands wincing as the hangover pain pierced through her head. "Where the hell am I?" She muttered under her breath. Evelyn mentally tried to recollect the events of last night and how she ended up here but her eyes instinctively fell upon her duvet-clad body. She peeped underneath the cover and was shocked to her bone marrow to see herself naked under the cover. Gasping for air, she looked up abruptly, and then she looked down again, this time looking way below, between her thighs. There were splatters of blood here and there and even on the mattress too. "No, no, no! This can't be happening.

TWO DAYS EARLIER... "Evy, You know we have just today to prep for my birthday? I want everything to be perfect!" Doris, Evelyn's childhood best friend spoke from the other end of the phone. "This is gonna be the best birthday of my life." Evelyn struggling between carrying brimful grocery bags and making her way out of the crowded store chuckled at her friend's enthusiasm. "How could I possibly forget when you remind me of every little chance you get?" She stopped and got into the Uber she had called earlier. "You have nothing to worry about. Everything is perfectly in order, Ma'am. Tomorrow is gonna be a blast." Doris Evans, a 25-year-old model and social media influencer with about 20 million followers, has always been one to care about her birthdays, but this year's birthday seems to be super special to her. She had somehow overheard her boyfriend, Jeff, on the phone with one of his friends, talking about surprising his girlfriend with a gift that'll take her breath aw

"WHAT EXACTLY is your work here?!" Jason Lyndon yelled at his PA, Julia Anderson, whose face was downhearted. "Do I pay you to slack off at your work and let such a stupid rumor like this spread?" "Calm down, Jason." Brad Bruce, Jason's best friend, placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'm sure she's trying to find a way to solve this problem. Chill out, okay? You're scaring her." Jason took a long deep breath. Then turned to Julia, pointing a long finger at her face. "I don't care how you're gonna do it but fix this!" He said firmly with clenched teeth. Then he took a breath and added calmly. "Please." "Yes! Boss." Julia said fidgety. Just as she was about to leave, her phone rang. She excused herself and took the call. After a moment later she returned with the phone. "It's your father, Boss. He wants to have a word with you at The Lyndon's Manor." "Tell him I'm busy." "He said he has a solution to your problems." Jason's brow pleated with frowns line as he fixed

"CALM DOWN, Doris!" Evelyn hurried out of her house reaching out for the handle of the taxi she'd called earlier. She spoke to her friend through her phone who was bawling her eyes, talking randomly. "Slow down, Doris. I can't hear you. I'm on my way to your apartment, okay?" She hung up and tapped the driver's shoulders. "Could you please hurry up?" "Yes, Ma'am." He replied, stepping on the gas pedal. Evelyn was about to go complete the finish touches on the rented hall they had prepared for Doris' birthday bash which was today when her best friend had called her wailing and gibbering. She found it difficult to understand what her friend was on about over the phone but she's never seen her best friend this way. Yeah! She could be a little puerile sometimes but not like this. After a few minutes, Evelyn barged into Doris' apartment yelling out her name. "Doris! Doris!" She scanned every corner of her apartment and finally spotted her underneath her kitchen table sitting w

EVELYN, NOW fully dressed, folded her arms and fixed an intense gaze on Jason who was wincing and massaging his forehead with an ice bag. She'd been so startled and enraged at the same time that she'd bashed his head with a bedside flower vase the moment she realise he was the one in bed with her. Luckily for him, no serious physical damage was done. Just a swollen forehead and probably a concussion. Jason banged the ice bag on the coffee table. The coffee table was the only bridge between the both of them, separating them from murdering each other. He shoots his piercing glare at her. She was almost taken aback by the anger in his eyes. She could practically feel the heat of that laser beam gaze burning a hole through her forehead and was surprised that there was no smell of smoke or a scorch mark on the wall behind her. Wait a damn minute. He shouldn't be the one angry here. She should. He was the one who had violated her. And now he's mad? What for? Okay, so maybe

AFTER SPEAKING to the Doctor, Evelyn slowly opened the door to Doris' hospital room and peeked in through the gap. Doris was lying down, face up, her right leg which was wrapped in bandages was slightly lifted. She couldn't hear any snoring but she knew, from the sound of groans coming from the direction of the hospital bed, that her friend was wide awake. Slowly and quietly sneaking open the door, she stepped into the room smiling guiltily at her well-awake friend who was now glowering at her. "I hate you, Evy." She pouted, whimpering. "I can't believe you left me alone. Now I don't only have to nurse my broken heart, I also have to nurse my broken leg. My leg is destroyed." Evelyn sat on her bed. "I'm sorry, Dee. I was in some sort of situation myself." She said gently stroking her injured leg. "Anyway, your legs aren't broken. The Doctor said you only sprained your ankle." Doris sniffled. "A sprain? It feels more like a fracture." Evelyn gave a small laugh. Sh

EVELYN STRODE down the busy Los Angeles sidewalk under the scorching afternoon sun, humming along with the song she was listening to through her AirPods. Despite the cacophony of noise that seemed to come from every direction, cars, buses, taxi cabs, bikes, and people pushing and maneuvering around one another nothing could stop her from being in a good mood. Every member of her family had asked her what the occasion was that morning during breakfast because she was rarely in a good mood. She'd just smiled and said nothing. She was still skeptical about telling them what she had up her sleeves. Yesterday had been a terrible day for her, but today? Today was the day she took the very first step to accomplishing her seven-year-long plan. She'd filled Doris in on the details when they had taken off to the hospital café yesterday evening after her discharge. The plan was to live with Jason for at least six months and within that six months, she'd try to find any clue

LATER THAT evening, Jason stood at his in-house studio trying to compose the song for his next album, but his mind kept wavering, finding it difficult to get inspired. After a while, he gave up, placed his jotter down, and just sat down pondering about his day's ordeal. He couldn't believe he had actually at one point considered Evelyn's offer. That woman was bad news. He couldn't even spend an hour under the same roof with her without getting pissed out let alone six FREAKING months. Uh-uh! Not happening! Absolutely NOT! If she ever lived with him, there won't be any moment of peace in his life. His serenity would be out of the window real quick. There was no way he was risking that. He was completely clueless about what to do. Both choices he has to get himself out of this mess were horrible and the thought disturbed him to his core. JASON WAS famished and exhausted for food and sleep. He hadn't had breakfast or lunch throughout the day and at that point, he was close to passing out from hypoglycemia. Dealing with this father had sapped what little energy he had left in him. Now, he has to deal with Kelly Davis before all this blows out of proportion. Finally, he arrived at the location Brad had sent to him the previous day. It was a small eatery in a secluded part of the city with little or no people around. Jason packed his car gingerly at the parking space. He looked around scanning the vicinity in his car checking for any suspicious-looking person. Brad had notified him that he had absolutely nothing to worry the place was reporters free and he'd even reserved the entire eatery for the whole day. He put on a black face cap, a facemask, and sunshades that were constantly in his car before stepping out of the car. Being in the middle of all those scandals and rumors had taught him a
