Five years later, the pack house felt alive again. Blankets had been spread across the grass, some near the trees, others around the fire pits. The pack members hang out in groups, warriors sitting near the fire pits, Omegas fussing over tray of food, while elders sat together under the tree. Samantha smiled as she watched the younger ones carry on with their game. They darted in wild circles, singing birdsongs. In the middle of it all was her little boy, Ryan, running across the field with the speed of a child twice his age. She glanced over at Cain and shook her head. “Can you see that? He's going to injure himself.”She sat up straight and said, “Ryan, you'll sprain your ankle if you keep running like that,” she raised her eyebrow as she watched him run even more. “Catch me if you can!” Ryan shouted, his legs pumping furiously as he ran across the grass.She watched as they squealed and gave chase at each other.
