Five years later, the pack house felt alive again. Blankets had been spread across the grass, some near the trees, others around the fire pits. The pack members hang out in groups, warriors sitting near the fire pits, Omegas fussing over tray of food, while elders sat together under the tree. Samantha smiled as she watched the younger ones carry on with their game. They darted in wild circles, singing birdsongs. In the middle of it all was her little boy, Ryan, running across the field with the speed of a child twice his age. She glanced over at Cain and shook her head. “Can you see that? He's going to injure himself.”She sat up straight and said, “Ryan, you'll sprain your ankle if you keep running like that,” she raised her eyebrow as she watched him run even more. “Catch me if you can!” Ryan shouted, his legs pumping furiously as he ran across the grass.She watched as they squealed and gave chase at each other. Doctor Maren adjusted his glasses and gestured toward the bed. “Just relax, Luna. Let's check what's wrong,” She eased back and tried to control her breathing. Her hands trembled slightly as she felt Cain’s warm fingers closing around hers. His thumb brushed over her knuckles, trying to calm her.But his eyes never left doctor maren. He clenched his fists as the doctor was about to lay his hands on her stomach. He fought back the urge to fight but he heaved a deep breath, sniffling her faint scent of Jasmine and Lavender.Doctor Maren listened carefully and checked deliberate movements then he finally paused. He lifted his brows slightly and smiled: he looked at Samantha first then Cain, then back to her again. “Luna…” he began softly.She felt his hands tighten on her hand. He demanded immediately, “What is it?” Doctor Maren’s lips curved into a smile and said, “There’s no cause for alarm. In fact… quite the opposite. Congratulations, Alpha. Luna. The next morning, the sun had only just begun to creep across the curtains when she stirred awake. His arms were wrapped around her waist, his breath against her hair. She blinked slowly and pressed a hand against her stomach. She felt different. She shifted and tried to shake off the sensation but it grew more. It was followed by a faint surge of nausea that made her close her eyes again and breathe carefully. She glanced beside her and saw Cain half awake beside her. He turned to her, yawning. “What's wrong? Are you good?” He murmured. She forced a smile, placing a hand on her waist. “I… I feel kinda strange.”His eyes opened at once and he supported himself up on one elbow. “Strange how?” he asked. She hesitated, her cheeks warming under his gaze. “Just… dizzy. I feel… different. And I don't know, I’ve been so tired. Later that night, the pack members began going back to their place. The fire in the pack ground still burned low. Samantha lingered at the edge, her fingers intertwined as she watched Cain move closer to her.Neither of them spoke as they walked the familiar path toward the pack house. He broke the silence first and said, “You've bewitched them.” She arched her brow, glancing up at him. “Bewitched?” His lips curved into a smile and he nodded. “The way they looked at you tonight… even the elders who once doubted your place. The sun was sliding low across the horizon when Samantha slipped free of Cain’s hand. The pack had settled after the day’s meal. But she found herself restless after returning back from the kitchen, helping the Omegas. She turned to him and said softly, “I'll be gone a little while,” She arched her brow at him as his gaze searched hers. “To the hospital?” She nodded. “Just to check on them. I… I can't stop thinking about those little ones.” For a moment, he was silent then his jaw loosened and he kissed her temple. “Go. I'll join you later.”***When she stepped into the hospital, she smiled. Instead of hushed cries and restless stirring, the building was peaceful. She watched as the pups were smiling and giggling against their mother’s palm. The first to notice her was a boy no older than six. He stirred awake, rubbed his eyes and smiled. She ruffled his hair softly and whispered softly, “I can see you're feeling better now. Glad to see you.” She turned her gaze back to the room

The next morning, the sun spilled light across the pack house. Samantha woke up, stretching her arms over her head. She glanced beside her and saw Cain is no longer on the bed. She dressed quietly and slipped into the corridors. She could perceive the aroma of baked bread and simmering broth. She opened the kitchen door and entered. She saw the shock on the omega’s eyes and for a second, they dropped their gaze and bowed low. “Luna,” they mumbled.She smiled gently and said, “Good morning to you guys,” One of the Omegas, flour dusting her cheek raised her hands and said nervously, “You— you shouldn't be here, Luna. We will get you whatever you want to have. Luna doesn't come to the kitchens.”Samantha stepped forward, rolling her sleeves. “Well, maybe this Luna does.
