Chapter 16 - Destined and chosen
I made my way to the Palace to meet with Heath and Adeena, as they were heading back to their pack tomorrow. It had been four months since they were last here and It was bittersweet that once again they were here because of a war. Heath was smartly dressed as usual in a grey fitted suit and navy tie with the pretty Adeena in her blue floral dress sitting next to him at the table in one of the Palace’s glass domes, eating their brunch with the sun beaming in, causing the tips of the red rose petals to glow. They greeted me with warm tired smiles as a maid laid out a fresh pot of tea for us all to share with baked scones and jams, the cooks and maids in this Palace are an absolute blessing with all the chaos that’s been happening around us, I thought as I thanked her before she left. “So how are you both feeling this morning?” I looked to them as I started to pour the tea in each of our cups. “Tired” Adeena responded with a yawn, just like them and probably everyone else in the pack,

Chapter 16, part 2 - Destined and chosen.
After three days, I still hadn’t been able to stop reading Layton’s letter. Every time I went to bed, hell I couldn’t stop thinking about it no matter where I went or what I did! It had me in such a daze, a complete high, but an anxious one… As soon as i’d feel giddy inside, it would then turn into fear. There was still so much we needed to say… or at least I needed to say and, answers I needed to hear and, If I did tell him of my feelings for him then what? Would I be his partner temporarily or would he want me to be his Luna? A Luna… ME? That’s...... big… a lot… Huge!... Jeez, most women would kill or manipulate their way to the status and here I am letting it put me off the love of my life! I had gone to the Palace the very next morning after receiving Layton’s letter, only to be greeted by a guard who told me Layton, Galeb and three other palace guards had gone to visit Alpha Michaelson as part of the sentencing of the Maven cousins that he had taken to his pack as prisoners. I

I woke up a few hours later and as I checked the time on my phone to see it was 11am I also noticed a text from Layton asking me to meet him for lunch. I squealed with excitement like a smitten schoolgirl, and I didn’t waste a moment to reply. “Of course, where to?” “Come to the Palace in an hour. I’ll be in my study, we can eat on the balcony… if you’d like?” “Sounds perfect! see you soon” “Can’t wait, my love”. I put my phone next to me on the bed and once again a smile erupted across my face! An hour that gives me time to quickly have a shower and get ready! I quickly hopped out of bed and undressed for the shower. I decided today that instead of my usual armour or causal shorts and top, I opted for a pastel pink bodycon dress and my flat strapped sandals. I curled my hair and let it flow loosely over my shoulders, adding a touch of makeup. I grabbed my phone and keys and headed for the Palace. I could smell his beautiful masculine scent as soon as I reached the doors of his

Chapter 16, part 4 - Destined and chosen.
Two days later, Layton had messaged me as soon as he was back at the Palace. While he was away, he had messaged me over and over telling me how much he missed me. So, to surprise him, I got dressed in a short black ruffle skirt and white silk blouse that clung to my skin, rushed down to the kitchen to make us some fresh sandwiches and coffee. I tapped on his office doors as I opened them and this time, to my relief, I wasn’t greeted by that woman on his desk. “heyyy” I called as I walked in and when his eyes landed on me, his mouth fell open and his eyes popped “wow” he whistled as I put our food down on his coffee table and waltz over to his desk. I sat and perched on the edge of it with him now standing in front of me “Damn I missed you” he growled as he grabbed my legs, pulling them to his sides and pressed his body against mine with his lips crashing down on mine. I automatically parted my lips for his tongue as he invaded my mouth in a deep and hungry kiss. Our bodies were mo

Chapter 17 - Consequences and Celebrations.
One Month Later. I woke up grinning from ear to ear, although I was missing the warm body that I had started to get used to waking up to. I had been spending most nights sleeping at Layton’s but last night he still had a lot to get done, now Tina’s sentencing was being dealt with. So I decided to stay at home, and waking up to his morning message telling me he missed me and loved me had me practically skipping to the shower even though I was slightly dreading the situation I was about to drag myself into. I had seen Zara a lot more over the last few weeks. I had stayed on to assist nurses with sedating Tina and I’d never leave without checking in on Zara and the more I saw her, the more vacant she started to look. No matter what we talked about, there never seemed to be any reaction or emotion from her and I’d always leave feeling glum. I put on my armour and made my way to the cells and, as always, one of the guards assisted me. As I approached the cells, Zara was sat on the cold

Chapter 18 - Love and unlikely friends.
I walked through the quiet village on my way to the field, it was eight at night and Layton had just finished work. The moon shone brightly, and the crisp cool air whipped through me as I hugged my coat tighter to my skin. Hardly anyone was out now as they enjoyed the warmth and comfort of their homes but the bounce I had in my step as I was on my way to meet Layton for our supper… No cold or rain could deter me or my excitement to see him. We kept spending every spare moment we could together, and our evenings had become this… supper somewhere just me and him, alone, away from any distractions. Then we’d head to the Palace, or my home and we’d fall asleep and wake up next to each other and I couldn’t imagine any other better way to start my day. Honestly, if anyone had told me a year ago, I would feel so much happiness being back here and with Layton I’d laugh in their face and give them a long list of why they were so wrong, but here I am… smitten and so head over heels! Even thou

Chapter 18, part 2 - Love and unlikely friends
It has been four weeks since Layton had proposed and, of course, all our family and friends were delighted when we had told them of our news and three weeks ago when it was time for Layton to make the announcement to the rest of the Blue Moon pack everyone from the village and the city had gathered outside the Palace in anticipation to hear who Layton had finally chosen as his Luna. He stepped out onto the balcony that overlooked all of his people as they clapped and cheered for him. He looked back to me and held out his hand for me to join him. As soon as they saw me, their cheers became louder as they whistled and shouted in approval. It was nerve-racking at first, but when I looked down and saw how happy they all were for us, having their love and support made me feel less anxious about the future of being a Luna. xxxxxxx I smiled as I looked down at my ring. My hand rested on my navy blue long gown as I sat in the car with Layton beside me and Mila and Nicholas in the seats beh

Chapter 19 - Love for his Luna.
I looked in the long floor length mirror as my eyes wandered over my curled hair with a white and blue flower that pinned back the left side of my hair. My long white gown fell around my feet, it wasn’t too long, just long enough to flow behind me when I walked. My makeup was natural nudes with a brown lipstick. The blue stone necklace hung just above my cleavage and my hand gripped around my bouquet of white and blue flowers. I liked the overall look. It wasn’t too glam or too much, it was classy and tasteful. Layton knew from the moment we began arranging our big day I didn’t want anything too elaborate. But there would still be a lot of people there today as he was the Alpha and in a couple of hours, I’d be the Luna. My hand shook and my legs felt like lead as my mum fussed with the bottom of my dress. Doesn’t she know her straightening it out right now is pointless! My dad came to my side and looked in the mirror at me ”You look stunning, absolutely perfect” he complimented, lo

Chapter 19, part 2 - Love for his Luna.
After a month of being a Luna, I had started to grow more accepting of my new duties and expectations. I had started to speak up in the meetings I attended with Layton, and I had even held a few meetings of my own to discuss new weaponry we would soon train with, and the extension needed for the packhouse. Layton supported me in every meeting and encouraged me to continue having a strong role in the pack. So far, everyone had shown respect toward me and listened to my ideas and opinions without disregard or rejection. I wasn’t sure if it was out of real respect for me or out of fear of what Layton would do to them, if they dared to upset me in any way. In the month I had been here, he had quickly made it known to any male that entered a room with me in it that I was not to be trifled with or disrespected in any way. Only two weeks ago, a man interrupted me during a meeting as I tried to suggest an idea to help with any newcomers into our pack. He spoke over me as if my voice didn’t

Chapter 19, part 3 - Love for his Luna.
Layton zipped up my dark blue gown and I finished pinning some of my hair back as the rest fell into curls over my shoulders. I stared in the mirror, but I wasn’t really looking at myself, my thoughts were far away, and I faded into a daydream contemplating the day ahead. Today was Zara’s hearing. I had no idea what decision had been made. In fact, I knew as much as Zara did, that anything could be said or done today. But I knew her wishes were to be able to go as quickly and easy as possible and that is all I could hope would happen. Of course, I felt a little foolish for feeling so sorry for her, but I’ll be damned if I don’t show any compassion to someone that has shown such remorse and regret and today, more than ever, it was eating away at me. I barely ate at breakfast and it was hard to take my eyes off of Layton, who seemed to eat so casually and calm, as if today were the same as any other day… did it not bother him that he was about to dish out a death or permanent prison s
