Chapter 6 - As one blossoms, another ends.
I finally finished my shift it was now 5am and I dragged my tired ass to my room.. I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen and made a makeshift sign ′DO NOT DISTURB’ and stuck it outside my bedroom door.. I didn’t have any shifts tomorrow so I had planned to sleep in especially after feeling the affects of doing two shifts in one day.. I flopped into bed pulled the blanket over me after checking my phone to see no messages and I slept several hours away.It was Noon by the time I finally woke and after an hour of lazing in bed watching telly I went downstairs to have something to eat, I was starving I hadn’t eaten since 10pm last night and to my surprise I saw Sam in the kitchen eating, he was never home this time of day during the week..“OH hey bro” I smiled as I sat down next to him on the bar stool.“Hey li’s, You hungry? i made some Pasta” he said as he pushed the pasta dish toward me then getting up to get me a dish and utensils.."Ohh perfect Sam, I’m starving”“Yea where you been

Chapter 6, part 2 - As one blossoms, another ends.
The week with Heath had gone by so quickly. I had told my parents the next day after I returned back from Heaths what was going on and that I would be staying with him in between my patrol shifts so not to expect me home this week. they understood and I could see in their faces they were sad for me, they had also asked that he come for dinner one evening so they could say goodbye. They didn’t know Heath extremely well or as much as I would have liked them to but they had spent time with him and gotten to know him over the course of our relationship.. I guess I always figured we had more time. After my first night back at Heaths I was glad that I had an afternoon shift cause it meant we got to stay in bed together for longer and I still had time to have breakfast with him and his Gran before he had to bring me home so I could get ready for work and pack what I needed to have at his for the week. Heath didn’t leave me when he took me home he stayed with me while I packed right up unti

Chapter 7 - Goodbye to all that I loved.
In the last three days I’ve had a couple of sorry messages here and there from Heath, so I decided I couldn’t wait for a phone call to tell him about me visiting I only had just over a week left until I’d be there, I was sat in the kitchen eating my lunch when I picked up my phone and decided I’d just message him instead and tell him now.. “Hey Heath, I have a whole week off the following week, let me know if you would like me to visit, I haven’t made any plans yet so I would love to see you”. I left it there in hopes he would get back to me soon, I was a bit put off the idea of going now considering how busy he always seemed to be, perhaps it was too soon to interrupt his duties for me to visit. I was lost in thought when my Mum walked into the kitchen. “well hello there daughter, this is lovely, I feel as though I don’t get to see much of you and Sam these days” “Oh hey mum” I replied as I gave her a kiss on the cheek when she came and gave me a tight hug.. ” I Know, but at least

Chapter 7, part 2 - Goodbye to all that I loved.
I woke up feeling excited to see Layton this afternoon, it felt nice to know we were friends again and to move on from our little spat, at least now our friendship is likely to be stronger. I checked my phone for any messages from Heath, I had rung him yesterday after my patrol only for it to go unanswered again and I heard nothing from him since. I sighed, perhaps it was for the best I didn’t visit any time soon! But just because I had Layton back in my life now it didn’t stop me from missing the comfort and feelings I had with Heath! After a shower and getting dressed I looked at the time on my phone.. I had to meet Layton at the field in thirty minutes I pulled my wet hair back into a French plait, added a touch of makeup, then got into my white and blue crop top and denim shorts. I tucked my phone in my back pocket and headed out of the house and to the field, noticing the little bounce in my step. I got to the field to see Layton already sat waiting for me, a big smile covered

Chapter 8 - Alone
I woke up still feeling tired as my sore eyes were already begging close, but this time I forced them to stay open as I stared blankly at the overhanging leaves of the weeping willow as they effortlessly trailed around me while the breeze flickered through them. My back was practically hugging the tree’s stump and It had been for the last three days since I found it to hide under. I couldn’t see what was past the leaves, which on one hand made me feel safely tucked away, but on the other it made me dread what was lurking beyond them. I breathed in lightly as the soft grass now warm underneath me. I had cried almost nonstop since I got here and now my eyes were red raw and my head was thumping but it was only now that hunger was starting to set in my stomach as it gurgled and rumbled to be fed and my wolf kept howling at me to eat. I sighed and begrudgingly pushed myself to sit upright and picked through my bag to find some fruit and a pouch of what looked like was supposed to be drie

Chapter 8, part 2 - Alone.
Two weeks later.. I sat on a high cliff overlooking an empty gorge, clouds filled the sky as I picked at my food, when I let out an annoyed sigh realizing, I’d ate the entire pouch and I was still hungry. Over the last couple of days I’d noticed my appetite coming back, so I’d spend most of the day’s walking around with an empty stomach! These damn pouches were only good as a snack and here I am using them as meals... I have never in my life gotten by on such little food that I could feel my wolf getting restless and hear her whining for something that could sustain us and let us sleep on a night with a full and satisfied stomach, not to mention she was moaning to be let out for a run, but I was still on edge about any rogues that may be lurking around. I still didn’t feel confident enough yet just to walk and run around freely without my guard being up and listening out for every sound and watching for anything that moved. I had to keep telling her off and reminding her we weren’t

Chapter 9 - So this is home.
It’s been three weeks since I fought those two rogues, I’d only come across one more and from what I could catch off its scent it was a male, but he didn’t look bothered when he saw me and he just took off in the opposite direction, he ’wasn’t skinny or bony so maybe he hadn’t been here much longer than I had… luckily I’ve managed to eat well, surviving off of rabbit and squirrels although the squirrels were fast fuckers so it was mainly rabbit but they were all enough to sustain us each day and allowed us to sleep without felling hungry, not to mention my bag was a lot lighter now I didn’t have to carry food bags around with me each day. After a few days of sleeping in whatever safe places I could find I knew I’d have to settle somewhere and start living a bit more in one place for a while at least, all this travelling each day and sleeping in trees wasn’t helping me to feel at home here and my body was starting to feel tender from sleeping in awkward positions! I Had just come acro

Chapter 9, part 2 - So this is home.
Florence POV: We pulled up to the main gates, it’s been six weeks since I’ve been home, I looked to mum and dad who were smiling just as happily as I was, excited to be home. One of the pack guards came over to greet us as we drove in ”Welcome back Sir Alpha Madam Luna and Lady Florence it is so nice to have you home safe and sound” “Oh were just fine” my mother replies ”were so happy to be home though” “that’s great, I’ll open the gates for you now” he walked back to the gate and called for it to be opened from the inside.. we nodded our heads in thanks, and our driver took us through our little city. When we left six weeks ago I had never seen it, so although it only took ten minutes to drive through the narrow roads, I still took it all in, with my face practically pressed up against the window, I couldn’t wait to explore it properly and get to know the people here. We came out of the city and reached the village, but I noticed it seemed different today, although I had never be

Chapter 10 - I am May.
I woke up the next day and removed the bandages and just as I had expected my skin had completely healed, thanks to my quick wolf healing. I led back down and decided to sleep some more I wasn’t feeling hungry just yet and I lacked the motivation to have anything else to wake up for… no people and no responsibilities. When it reached around noon I finally decided to wake up and have some fruits I had collected to eat. I got dressed and grabbed all of my bloodied bandages and left my cave, I walked for a few minutes then dug a deep whole and put all of the blood stained items in it then covered it back up, so the scent wouldn’t be tracked easily. But it occurred to me that I couldn’t keep chucking out my clothes.. No… I needed something airy but something I could wear over my clothes every day and wipe clean… I looked around at the forest hoping something would catch my eye that I could fashion into something… but how the hell am I supposed to make some sort of wipe clean clothing ga

Chapter 10, part 2, I am May.
Florence POV: It’s been over a year now since we lost Lelanna and things hadn’t gone back to normal, at least not for Sam and Layton or her family. I thought back to when we had started the search for her, the warriors that had been handpicked by Layton and Sam had searched high and low even with Layton and Sam by their sides, day and night, but still week after week, month after month, they would return with no news. They would come back and tell me, father and mother that there was no scent, lost clothing or weaponry, nothing at all that could lead us to her or even to know if she was still alive. It gradually had a draining effect on them both. Luckily the three groups of 12 warriors we had picked to join the mission had stuck to their word and not told anyone, they had all shown their loyalty, but for most of them they knew Lelanna or knew of her and they all held a high respect for the fact that she was a skilled warrior and so close to my family. I remember Sam’s face when La
