The steady rocking and swaying of her head slowly woke Claire from her slumber. Pressure behind her eyes made her feel like her skull was split into dozens of pieces. She raised her hand to wipe her face, but the cool metal on her wrist stopped it midair. Her eyes snapped open at the sound of the clink of metal on metal. “What the fuck?” she mumbled to herself. She glanced around the small room and found herself on a very comfortable bed, but this wasn’t her bed, or Mal’s, or any bed she recognized. She searched for anything that could tell her where and why she was there. Two doors and one small circular window were the only means of escape she could see, but she couldn’t get herself to any of them handcuffed to this bed. With a few steady breaths, she tried to calm herself, but the swaying of the room was a distraction, and she couldn’t focus. “Boat,” she muttered to herself.“I could tell that you were a smart girl.”Claire didn’t realize she had spoken out loud until the chilling v

Quinn’s eyes widened in panic as she looked at everyone frozen in their spots. “What. Was. That?”Stillness took over the small party. Then another tremor, this time larger, shook them. The table vibrated and scooted across the floor. Dishes scattered over the floor, clashing and breaking as soon as they crashed downward. The chandelier lights clinked above them as the ground shook below their feet again, but this time a loud, thunderous bang accompanied it.Quinn ducked under the table as the yacht swayed even more from the violent shocks. Claire gripped the edges of the table to steady herself, but looked up just in time to witness the chandelier come loose and crash onto the surface of the table. Zach quickly rushed to Quinn’s side and pulled her away from the table as it collapsed to the ground.Glass shards erupted everywhere.Zach shielded Quinn while, surprisingly, Sloane covered Claire from the fragments. A few vampires filed into the room as Sloane bellowed, “Find whatever is

He stalked back to her and with a sure hand, grabbed the collar of her shirt, and lifted her from the ground as he growled, “You were the problem the entire time!”He pulled her closer to him; his face inches from hers. “You won’t cause us any more trouble. Not anymore.” Red eyes bore into hers. Fangs bared for all to see as they slowly came closer to her throat.Claire kicked at his groin, making him drop her to the ground. She hit the hard surface and cringed at the pain in her limbs. She looked up in time to see Zach rush towards her. Using her staff to anchor herself, she dodged a blow and pushed herself between his outstretched legs. Once she was behind him, she swung her leg out to kick him behind his knees. Zach fell to the floor, and Claire seized the opportunity. With a loud ‘crack’, her staff landed a blow to his back, knocking him down even further. She jumped onto his back and placed her staff below his chin, the pressure causing his head to rear back. She could feel the s

Footsteps pounded on the marbled stone floor of the long hallway, has he hurried towards the door at the end. The man quickly strode up to the heavy wooden door, knocked, and nervously waited as he caught his breath.“Come in, Griffin. I feel your anger through the stone walls,” a calm voice acknowledged through the enormous walnut door.Griffin entered his father’s office with his phone crushed in his hand. “This is ridiculous, Father.“ He looked at his father with a look of contempt and anger as he rambled. “How can you be so calm? Our plan completely fell apart. Malachy got away. The girl…”Fingers carefully placed the leather-bound book as Nathanial nonchalantly stared at the bookshelf and the golden candelabra he had received as a gift centuries ago. “All is well, son. Calm yourself,” he soothed.“But, Father…”The candelabra soared through the air towards Griffin’s head. Instead of hitting its target, it crashed into the gray stone wall. Pieces clattered over the floor.Nathanial
