11. Just classmates.
TASHA.Stepping out of the school building, I head towards the green den, my heart skyrocketing, my breaths deepening with each second I find myself getting closer to the massive building. I have never worked or had anything to do with the green den before, but Principal Salazar said some labourers will help me learn what to do there during the one month timeframe of my punishment. To be honest, I hate that I am being punished, but the bitter reminder of WHY I am being punished hits harder than the punishment itself.Reaching the entrance of the greenhouse, I suck in a breath, preparing myself before entering the building. Climbing twisting weeds, shrubs and varieties of flowers greet my presence when I enter. The greenhouse looks like a tall giant wide marquee with transparent glass roof planes that allow the bright light and heat of the sun seep into the greenhouse. The floor is like mowed grass, soft and tender to walk on. Different plants, most of them grown in giant white and bro

12. Why did you do it?
NATETasha rolls her eyes at my response. "Someone tell me this isn't happening to me." She groans.I chuckle. "Well, no one can tell you that, especially if it is indeed happening to you."She flares her eyes at me, obviously annoyed, the action making her look more fierce and beautiful. "You like joking a lot don't you?" She snaps.I scoff at her hot tempered attitude, my fingers pushing back my wet hair strands from my face. "Maybe."She fumes out a hot breath, folding her arms across her chest, eyes glaring at me. I resist the urge tempting me to laugh out loud at her annoyed facial expression."Let us get down to business if you both are done arguing with each other." The elderly man says, giving Tasha the flower trimming shears in his hand."I believe your name is Tasha Quinn right?" He asks, stretching the shears further to Tasha."Yes sir." Tasha replies, unfolding her arms. She collects the shears from him, throwing me a quick angry glance before looking away."And you," the m

13. Peeking at the forbidden.
TASHA.Nate gazes back at me in shock, not saying anything, clearly stunned by my outburst. An outburst that is the obvious startling truth everyone in Westville High fucking knows about.I try to calm my nerves down by taking in a couple of quick breaths, clutching my chest. "See Nate, I am really grateful for what you did for me back there at the cafeteria today, but right now, see the mess that action has landed you into. You are here in this place with me, because of me. You got punished because of my mess, and that is something that makes me feel even more guilty right now."Nate swallows, his jaw working. "Tasha, I defended you back there because that was the right thing to do. No one has the right to hurt you. You are amazing, and that guy Jason is a fucking asshole. I am not going to apologize for what I did, especially when it prevented that bastard from hurting you." He takes in a quick breath, exhaling. "And also, I know I am kind of popular around here, but you do not have

14. You are different.
TASHAI step back a bit, getting hold of myself. "I will just be here. Just let me know whenever you are ready to have some snacks.""I will." He skims his tongue over his bottom lip before going back to trimming the flowers, a little portion of untrimmed flowers remaining.I sink back down on the chair and bury my arching sensation into devouring the burger in my hand. This guy is a fucking walking, breathing sinful temptation. A tiny chunk of the burger I am eating mistakenly gets stuck in my throat, forcing a cough out from my mouth. I quickly pull out the bottle water from the souvenir bag, screw it open and take a huge gulp.Instant relief rushes down my throat. I close the bottle and rub my chest to soothe down the burn."Sorry." Nate whispers. I nod."I am done." He announces. I look up.Damn. He is really done with trimming the flowers. So fast."You really did a nice job." I smile, impressed."Thanks." He walks towards a metal crate and drops the trimming shears into it. Afte

15. A little bit of gratitude.
TASHAThe soft way his lips move with that statement should definitely not be making me stare at them, but damn this stupid eyes of mine. I rip my eyes away from his mouth and stand up, trying as much as possible not to graze my skin against his bare flesh, leaving him to finish his burger. I turn around and head towards my bag.I should probably leave since we are done for today.I reach my bag and try to calm myself, but it is not working. My heart is beating so fast and hard. I gulp when Nate appears beside me, worsening my racing heart, reaching for his bag that is near mine. His arm brushes against my skin as he takes his bag, our closeness feeling too intimate and too sweet to ignore. I should shift away, but I don't want to. I can't.He brings out his folded black t-shirt. A piece of paper from his bag falls to the ground. I bend and pick up the paper. It is his Maths Test result from the Maths test we did last week in class, and a bold red F is staring right back at me. I wait

16. Morning Trouble.
TASHA"Arise and shine!" The loud singsong morning announcement from my mum jolts me up from my bed.Oh Shit. I didn't hear my alarm ring."Good morning darling, how was your night?" She asks, sitting down beside me on the bed.I rub my eyes. "My night was fine. Good morning mum."She strokes my hair. "Sorry darling. I could not ask you how your day was yesterday. When I came back, you were already asleep and I did not want to wake you. I hope the punishment wasn't stressful.""No mom." I think back to my time I spent with Nate yesterday at the greenhouse, fighting back the foolish smile threatening to spread across my face. "In fact, it was kind of amazing. I learned how to trim flowers yesterday."She raises an eyebrow in surprise. "Really?"I nod."That is good. Anyway, just be careful. If you start to experience any discomfort due to the punishment, do not hesitate to let me know okay?"I yawn a bit, covering my mouth. "Okay mum.""Alright. I will leave you to prepare for school."

17. Excuse me?
TASHAI chant the last sentence of Our Lord's Prayer in my head rapidly to prevent myself from slapping off that sly smile coating Claire's wretched face."Hey Claire." I snide back at her, masking my indignation with a fake smile. Samantha leans on the locker beside mine, her closeness to me itching my fingers with the urge to sink them into her blonde wavy hair and just drag at the strands mercilessly."So Tasha," Samantha starts, shoving me by the shoulder. "How have you been? I know you must be really going through a lot right now."Her voice carries that lackadaisical disdain coated with fake sickening sympathy that just increases the boiling point of my anger. My vexation is simmering, but I hold it in. Everyone in the hallway is staring at us right now, but they are mainly staring at me, watching me like impatient hawks, intensely waiting for me to do something. Something probably erratic like clawing someone's face again.Do I look like a fucking entertaining clown to them?I b

18. Have lunch with us.
TASHAMorning classes wheeze by in a blur, and to my deepest relief, Mr Richard ended up not giving our class any impromptu test. God knows I would have fucked up big time on that test because I was not given a little bit of time to revise this morning, thanks to Claire and Samantha.I close my exercise book and head out of class at the sound of the bell ringing for lunch break. Many students are scattered around the hallway, some busy with their lockers, the others already heading towards the cafeteria. I follow the crowd walking towards the cafeteria, making up my mind to just grab my snacks from the cafeteria and just zoom off to a place quieter to get a little peace of mind. I am not sure I can handle eating alone at the cafeteria today in front of every jeering stare from everyone. It sucks now that the only people I ever truly and only hanged out with were Diane and Jason. We ate and did everything together, but now that they both stabbed me in the back and are gone, it is diffi

19. You must be Nate.
TASHAThe mesmerizing rays of Saturday sunset drip my bedroom window in vibrant colors of oranges and deep purples. I adjust my black lace kimono jacket over my blue bikini bra and ripped faded blue jean shorts. Grabbing my toté bag, I chunk in some spare clothes, just in case. Getting drenched at pool parties is a phenomenon that should not be ignored. I glance at the clock. 6:35pm. Nate could be here any moment from now. I just texted him earlier that I am nearly done getting ready.Dashing out of my room, I race down the stairs towards the kitchen, hearing the buzzing sound of the electric blender."Mum! I am ready!" I yell with pride as soon as I enter the kitchen. The aroma of freshly baked cookies tickles my nostrils. My mum turns off the blender and turns around to check me out."Woow baby. You look so chic!" She blurts out, eyes wide, lips curled into a smile.."Thanks mum."My eyes catch a plate of the cookies on the kitchen table. I grab one of them and stuff it into my mou

20. Pool party.
TASHAConrad's house is already loud and buzzing in full swing by the time we arrive. Marco parks the car and we all step out of the car. The party's booming music can be heard even outside here. Conrad's house is huge, decorated with beautiful flowers, lavish statues, and a large round water fountain at the centre of the house. I can spot the glittering blue edge of the big swimming pool behind the house.Marco and Jennie begin to walk towards the house entrance, which is crowded with people exiting and going in all at once. Westville faces turn to my direction as I follow Jennie and Marco into the house. Some don't say anything. Others simply just ignore me, sipping from their red cups. Nate's presence behind my back gives me a sort of reassurance. But deep in my mind, I still feel skeptical. I just hope I did not make a mistake by coming to this party. Anyway, they should mind their damn businesses. A group of Westville girls snide past me as I enter the burstling house, snarking
