CHAPTER 1

“Congratulations Kate.” Her mother’s voice vibrated in the room. Kate stared at her wedding dress and blinked back tears. “Thanks mum. This is the happiest moment of my life. I can’t believe it yet.”Her mother smile got wider, “You better believe it or do you need me to pinch you.”Nodding eagerly, she said, “Please, do pinch me, I need to make sure this is real and not something I dream up.”She felt a pain in her hand and screamed, “Ouch! This is real, mum. It’s real. I’m getting married to Ken Hart.”Dreams do come true. If Katherine was asked the question if dreams comes true, she would answer with a wide smile on her face. Hers came true when she had lost hope about it. She twirled round in front of the mirror with a wide smile, “How do I look?”“You are the most beautiful bride I have ever seen.” Her mother’s eyes shone from unshed tears. She hadn’t expected her only daughter to get married at the young age of twenty-one, but she was the only one that could save th

“I need scotch.” Ken said to the bar man. The meeting had gone better than he expected. Just wearing a wedding band on his finger had sealed him million dollars deal. If only he could go ahead and divorce his wife to regain his freedom, but he needed to keep up the act. Dominic wouldn’t work with anyone who wasn’t a family man. Sealing the deal was only the beginning. He knew that, and that was why he had to remain a married man.“How do you feel?” Chris asked. Ken raised his brow. Was he supposed to feel a way? “As a married man? How does it feel having a woman waiting for you at home?”Ken grunted, “Man, I just got married today. I haven’t spent a day with my wife, and you are already asking me about married life. I don’t want to deal with it now.”Chris chuckled, “Shouldn’t you be with your bride now? I bet she is waiting at home for you in some sexy lingerie.”Ken groaned. The thought of Kate in something sexy made his dick hard. He didn’t want to think about it.

Steve was nothing but a live CCTV. She could hardly move anywhere without his eyes on her. She had tried to hide from his sight, but whenever she tried to peek at him, their eyes meet. How was she supposed to visit her husband when she could barely break free from her bodyguard? She decided that to disarm ones enemy, the best way was to get to know the enemy better. She went back to the car, this time she insisted on sitting beside him. “So, Steve, are you married?”A grunt. She chuckled as if it was funny. There had to be something that would make him talk. Getting to know people better was the easiest way to know how to trick them.“What do you like best?”No response.“Is being a body guard a dream job or did you just find yourself doing it?”No response. It wasn’t working as she expected. The only command he had listened to was, ‘stop’, ‘go’ and the directions she had given him. She knew he could talk because he had spoken to her husband, so why was he refusing to speak

CHAPTER 4

"Ask my father? How do you mean, ask my father?" she asked with a low voice."I have no say in that right now, and I need you to get back to the house right this minute.""I am your wife, and you have no right to treat me like a trash bag," she flared up."No one is ever treating you like a trash bag. If you need answers to the questions going on in your head, talk to your father. But right now, I need you to get back to the house now."She was dumbfounded, not sure what to say or think."Hmmmm..." she sighed deeply, her head bowed in a sad mood."Tell your bodyguard to get me home. I feel shattered right now. I can't control my steps.""What's that meant to mean?" he asked with an angry tone. "Get yourself out of here right this minute!" he yelled at her.She took a step forward and slumped, hitting her head by the side of a steel chair in his office.Blood gushed out...He shouted out of fear, "Steve!! Kate, at the hospital, kept thinking, "What deal? What did Dad sign me up for? Was there a price tag?" She couldn't get the thoughts off her mind."Ouch, a sharp pain through her head. Forgot I still have a wounded head to deal with," she said to herself."All I wanted was a happy marriage," she said to herself with a very faint voice. She sighed deeply. She was distracted by the sound of her phone. "Who's calling?" she snapped at her purse."Oh, it's Mom," she managed to talk with a bold voice, though still very weak. "Hey, Mom, what's up?""I heard what happened to you, sweetheart, but I'm heading over to the hospital now, and I'm almost there, my darling," her mom replied with a mother's loving tone, sounding so affectionate."Okay, Mom," she replied, "I'm still very weak, though. Would you mind getting me food and beverages on your way down here? I am famished."She dropped the phone, and again, it rang. "Who again?" she said reluctantly. It was her husband. She held to a halt. "Wh

7:15 a.m. Ken slept off in the office and woke up to the vibrating sound of his phone. "Grrrr, grrrr, grrrr, what the!!! Can't a grown-up man enjoy his own peace?" he grumbled, his fingers squeezing his face."Who could it be this early?" The vibration continued while he struggled to get his phone. "Oh, why is her father calling this early?" he wondered to himself. "Ken," the voice on the other side called at him, "I heard what happened to Kate, and I really felt bad at what's going on," Kate's father said."Well, I wouldn't have expected such would happen, truly. I left her looking hale and healthy at the hospital, only to get called at the middle of the night she's in a coma," Ken replied."Ken, we both know how important wedding nights mean to women. Why couldn't you just fake it and spend the night with her that day? You shouldn't be that selfish," her father said."Do I need to remind you of the concept of this marriage?" Ken asked sharply. "We both know the wedding happened just
