Lahat ng Kabanata ng Shackled To Nikolai's Heart : Kabanata 11 - Kabanata 20

[NIKOLAI'S POV]"The heat is on, Nikolai," Anton's voice crackled over the line. "These secret police bastards are invading our clubs and bars and hotels.""The crates," I massaged my shoulder where Hazel stabbed me. "Let them search all they want. They won't find the crates there."Anton was grumbling badly. "I don't like this, Nikolai. You're playing with fire. Tell me what you're planning.""Tell Vladimir and Kwame to catch the next available flight to Manhattan," I instructed. "And also, double the guards at the safe house."Anton grumbled loudly. "I hope you know what you're doing, Nikolai. We don't mess with the secret police and the military. Those guys are poison.""Goodnight, Anton," I replied curtly and hung up. I drowned my whiskey and leaned back on the sofa. Hazel was sleeping on the bed like a harmless little child. At least she could sleep. Sleep was the only luxury that I couldn't afford. The whispers of the ghosts of my victims underneath my bed wouldn't let me. Th

[HAZEL'S POV]This bastard really meant what he said last night. At first, I thought he was joking, but he wasn't. After I turned his advances down, Nikolai had me on handcuffs from midnight to the break of dawn. When I had breakfast, I was still on handcuffs. What peeves me the most was the fact that he was enjoying himself. He relished in my frustration as I struggled to eat, bath and dress with my hands bound. I swore within myself to get back at him. I'll make him suffer. An idea dropped in my mind on how to do that. The opportunity came when he announced we were going somewhere. "Where are we going?" I demanded. He grabbed my arm and pulled me along with him. "You're in no position to ask questions while still on punishment. You would do as you're told."We left the Romanov Towers and drove off in Nikolai's dark Lamborghini. He sat behind the wheels while I sat beside him. As we drove passed the estates and busy streets, I saw people staring. They weren't staring at me

HAZEL'S POV:Something took hold of me the moment Nikolai got shot. It was as if I was suddenly possessed by a spirit. My hands squeezed the trigger as I fired two bullets at the man who shot Nikolai. He died on the first shot. I didn't think much about what I've just done because I was worried about Nikolai. I rushed to him and cradled his unconscious body in my arms. "No, no, no. This can't be happening."He took a bullet for me. Why did he have to do something so stupid?Staring at his lifeless body, I felt my eyes watered. Wait, was I about to cry for this man?Doesn't he deserves what's coming his way? Shouldn't I be happy he got shot?Again that deep hollow feeling of emptiness formed inside my soul. I wasn't happy. I felt like I'd just lost my family all over again. When I saw blood seeping from his right chest, I panicked. "What do I do? I need to stop the bleeding, but I've never done this before!"While he was unconscious, he was still breathing. I hurriedly unbuttoned h

NIKOLAI'S POV:At exactly 9 o'clock,. Kwane delivered Al Major's message to me. "He wants to talk," Kwame said. I finished my whiskey and clenched my jaws. Sleeping peacefully on the bed beside me was Hazel. The moment we left the hospital and returned back to the Romanov Towers, the first thing she did was sleep, and I kept watch over her. I wasn't wasting my time, rather I was waiting. Earlier I had Kwane orchestrated a grand fireworks display that lit up the night sky over Al Major's home. The fireworks spelled out a fiery cryptic message of war, visible for miles around. A mere man on the streets would marvel at the spectacle but Al Major would be frightened out of his wits because I've just declared war on him and his entire family. "I'll go see him now," I got to my feet. "Station your men outside the door. No one gets in this room and no one gets out until I return."Kwane did exactly as I told him. Fast forward, we're on our way to meet Al Major. I didn't go alone, be

NIKOLAI'S POV:Hazel was awfully quiet as we drove away from Richard's resident. It was a full moon night but it looked like it might rain later. Dark clouds were forming, gradually obscuring the moon from sight. We were alone in the car; I had instructed Kwame and Vladimir to stay behind and wait for us. Where were we going? The Flamecrest chateau. A narrow road led deep inside the forest. The deeper we drove the more quieter and eerie it gets. "You know, now that I think about it," Hazel began, breaking the silence. "Lord Richard maybe right after all. I am a devil."I glanced at her. She was leaning her head against the window, her eyes sad. "What makes you say that?" I asked. "As far as I remember," she began softly. "I never had any friends. Mom and Dad never let me and my brothers play with the other kids. We were isolated from everyone else.""That must be hard," I managed to say. Hazel continued. "My brothers and I were home schooled. We had this big open field where w
