Chapter 1

Sara's POVI stood at the far corner of the hall, knowing my presence could ignite unnecessary commotion if I was seen among the guests. I was used to being an outcast, despite my father's esteemed position as the Pack's alpha. Or former alpha, I'd rather say. Tonight, my brother was inaugurated as the new alpha of the pack. Father had decided he was old enough to start his reign, while he could take his rest. My brother, Adam, stood proudly beside his mate, Iris, on the podium, smiling from ear to ear as the entire audience erupted in applause, celebrating their coronation. His eyes met mine and the beaming smile on his face faded instantly, replaced by a profound sense of disappointment. Undoubtedly because a filth like me was present on his special day. Adam and I weren't full siblings; we had different mothers. His mother was the former Luna, respected by the entire pack members, while mine served as the favorite topic of gossip for the pack's women. The woman who drugged the

Chapter 2

I forced myself to extend my hand towards her, the handshake quite represented a painful farewell to the dreams I had once held close. A silent acceptance of the harsh truth that I was not destined to be by his side.I noticed that Kai avoided my gaze. Although I never explicitly expressed my interest in him, I could easily tell he must've sensed it and perhaps knew how heartbreaking this supposedly joyful news was to me.A lump formed in my throat, growing with each passing moment, and I knew it would only be a matter of seconds before I burst into tears. "Enjoy the party." I flashed her one last fake smile before walking into the crowd, heading towards the grand brown doors that led out of the ballroom.I clenched my fists tightly, feeling my nails piercing into my palm, as each passing moment intensified the storm brewing within me. My eyes blurred with tears, threatening to spill over.Every detail, from the faint traces of lipstick on Kai's lips to the bright conspicuous red mark

Chapter 3

~Sara~It wasn't until I woke up to an incessant tapping on my shoulder that I realized I had slept off. A maid stood beside my bed, watching me with a creepy stare. I shot off the bed, immediately getting a hint of why she was here. The sun was already rising, and the house had fallen silent, indicating that the ceremony was over. And the last guest probably just left. "The Alpha requests your presence in the living room." She spoke up, stepping a few inches away from the bed. "You have 15 minutes to freshen up before meeting him." She added, stopping me as soon as I stepped down from the bed to follow her. Okay, that was odd. If he was going to punish me for last night, what was the point of freshening up? Nonetheless, I nodded, knowing she couldn't provide me any answers even if I asked, and proceeded towards the bathroom door while she left the room. In less than ten minutes, I had finished bathing and hurried to get dressed. One thing was ingrained in my mind—never make Fat

Chapter 4

~Sara~Bride??Future Luna??Marriage..??I'm getting married?? A forced marriage to a man I don't even know? A man I don't even know his last name."No." Father stopped pacing and snapped his head towards me, his eyes turning red in anger. "No, I'm not getting married to him. I'm barely 8 months from finding my mate-" The remaining words hung in my throat as he swiftly grabbed my neck, pinning me roughly against the wall. I gasped, the impact of the push knocking all air from my lungs."Don't you even DARE put up a fight, Sara! I swear I'll kill you if this doesn't go as planned.""Then kill me, I'd rather die than get married to someone who isn't even my mate." I managed to speak through his tight grip on my neck. My reply seemed to anger him the more because his grip tightened, and I felt his claw piercing into the soft skin of my neck. Blood trickled down my neck to my chest, my dress absorbing the liquid.Abruptly, the door flung open and Adam stepped in with a scowl on his face.

Chapter 5

~Sara~I remained silent, keeping my gaze on him, unsure of what to say. Because, if I heard correctly, he seemed to be aware of the games played by my family. But was he any different? Getting married to an unmated female? He might have a bit of conscience, but still, that doesn't make him any more different from them. So I averted my gaze from him, keeping my eyes on the passing scenery, although I'm quite aware of how my reaction would be perceived. Ignoring the almighty alpha. However, at this point in my life, I really don't care. I didn't want to do it, but I found myself tilting my head to steal a glance at my husband-to-be, to see what kind of reaction he'd show in response to my attitude. Probably at my audacity to ignore him. But his gaze was fixed on the window beside him, his chin resting on his left palm and, if I was correct, he looked unbothered. I hated that, somehow, he looked considerate of my dilemma. …'Miss,''Miss,' a distant voice called out, rousing me fr

Chapter 6

~Sara~"With all my heart and soul, I take you as my partner, my love, and my best friend. I promise to love and cherish you, to stand by your side through all of life's joys and challenges." I read the last paragraph of one of the vows, scrunching my face as those words left a bitter taste in my mouth. Now I realized this marriage was going to be harder than I thought because saying these dreadful words in front of an audience, like I actually mean it, has to be the scariest thing ever.I dropped the paper with a sigh, leaning back on the headboard, wondering over and over why my life was this miserable. About a minute later, a knock came on the door. As much as I didn't like the disturbance, it was much better than someone intruding into the room. I stood up with a low groan and opened the door to see two women standing outside. "Hello.""Hi!" One of them gasped, her eyes widening like she had just seen a ghost—or a goddess, maybe. "I'm Leigh, and this is Eloise. We'll be helping y

Chapter 7

~Sara~We walked outside the house, passing through the foyer that led to the backyard. Surprisingly, my husband-to-be already had this place designed like a happy wedding would be. And to be honest, the decorations were great and maybe perfect. The entire backyard was adorned with elegant lights, lamps, and flowers. Even the aisle runner we walked on was decorated with flowers and softly glowing lights, creating a magical aura. The weather had even become cloudy, enhancing the thematic theme of the wedding. Although it seemed like it would rain soon, in contrast to how bright the sun was a few hours ago. I shifted my attention back to my surroundings, and that was when I noticed the audience sitting around us. They were few, just my family and a few of my husband-to-be associates—maybe—who weren't even smiling. They looked as if they wanted this to be over as soon as possible. And the alpha himself stood at the arch dressed in a tuxedo and somebody who looked like a coordinator or

Chapter 8

'Hello love,As you would know by now, this marriage is a huge blessing to us and the entire pack. But it's nothing close to what we aim to achieve, which will not be successful without you.You need to carry his child as soon as possible, with no delay or excuses. There's a nice lingerie in your bag which you must've seen by now, and that should be more than enough for you to carry out the task in time. Don't go whoring around, Sara, like you did with Kai.If you make any mistakes that would sever our plans, we wouldn't hesitate to accept the divorce and marry you off to one of the omegas in our pack.' The letter ended, just like that. And for about a minute, I stared into space, trying to restrain the anger brewing in me. Whoring around with Kai? When did I ever do that?I hissed, dismissing my emotions, knowing she wrote all that to intentionally provoke me. Which she successfully did. However, the sound of rain hitting the roof is what makes me hastily push the paper into the bag

Chapter 9

What if it wasn't even love? What if it's just a true friendship feeling? Or perhaps something else. Even worse, what if I was just overthinking it?As much as I wanted to believe these doubts, my heart could not. I've felt love in the past, with Kai. Except it was only a one-sided love, with me hoping he could see me the same way I saw him. I loved him. He liked me. He never loved me. But this, this was different. It didn't feel like I was forcing or hopelessly trying my way with someone. I felt loved. It didn't feel like I had to beg for it or do something to earn it. Maybe this was true, genuine love. Except, I feared that, what if he loved too much, and I couldn't return the same love to him? Or what if we get too attached and my mate emerges? In the end, we'll only hurt ourselves. My life's messed up. A knock on the door jolted me back to reality, and I hurriedly hid the paper under the pillows before answering. "Come in." A maid stepped in, and I immediately recognised her

Chapter 10

~Rhett~"I'm definitely getting wasted tonight," Zayn, my beta, announced as he barged into my office, slumping on the couch in the right corner of the room. He carelessly tossed his suitcase on the coffee table in front of him, lying fully on the couch."You're supposed to take Ingrid out on a date tonight, remember?" I reminded him, diverting my gaze from the computer in front of me.Zayn groaned, rubbing his forehead. "Is that supposed to be an obstacle?""Well, taking your mate out on a date night, then getting wasted and having her stress over dragging your drunk ass back home, are properties of a useless man if you'd ask me." I swiveled my chair and rested my palm under my jaw, pretending to be deep in thought."Oh, then I suppose the properties of a responsible man are going out on a supposedly important event, then bringing home an unmated female to forcibly wed her!" Zayn retorted, sitting upright on the couch and gazing at me with a serious demeanor. "Don't you think you ow
