Ava quietly followed Mr. Taylor through the huge halls. She was fully attentive, learning the routes of the lion's den or more like Wolf's pack. He escorted her to the huge dining hall that overlooked the beautiful garden and a mini fountain through huge glass walls. A huge chandelier hanging right above the dining table. She swallowed thickly when her gaze lingered on the man sitting at the head of the table. He was in a compression long-sleeved shirt and shorts going through his phone while chewing on his food. A girl stood beside him as she informed him about their meeting, she was in formal wear with two files in her hand and a notebook in which she was doodling out whatever he said to her. Feeling gaze on him his attention darted to her and Ava stiffened under his scrutiny. Now she knew he wasn't human and that fact alone shifted something inside her. It was terrifying that she was curious rather than scared. Her thought process had a hitch and it was malfunctioning. Out o

Her heart quivered and jumped in her chest. Her eyes widened when he let her go, stepping back. Ava hurriedly jumped down only to lose balance and was about to fall but grabbed the chair to support herself, she didn't realize that her legs were jello. A sinister smile teased his lips, so evil that her soul shivered. She took a shaky step away from him and his head snapped to her. The scathing look in his eyes terrified her as she attempted to bolt from there but he seized her elbow and pulled her to him. She came slamming into his solid chest as he held her close. "Let him in, I'll be there with his most prized possession." He mused. "Let me go, Aiden. We can talk things out. I'll talk to my dad. He'll leave his job. We'll go far away from you, my father would not hurt any of your people. We would never show our face to you ever again-" She abruptly stopped when his hold on her elbow tightened to the point of crushing her bone. "You don't know anything, Ava. So keep your mouth shut

"Where were you yesterday?" Vanessa asked as Ava set the brownies on the tray. Ava got to work first thing in the morning. She wanted out of that place to breathe a little. Last night she cried herself to sleep. She didn't even eat anything. Mr. Taylor was kind enough to bring her breakfast in her room this morning. Ava kept herself locked in her room the whole time after her father left. She got a call from him and he assured her that everything would get better and he'll save her. Ava begged him to take Annie and leave, he assured her that Annie was safe and also advised her to law low, not to trigger Aiden, and try to stay out of his way, he would forget about her soon. Jacob also said that he was trying to get help from the authorities to get her out of there. Ava asked him about the experiments that Aiden mentioned but Jacob diverted the subject back on her. He assured her that he'll save her soon. Only after that did she fall asleep because she was too drained and hungry thou

He half expected her to cry or to make a run for her life if the amount of fear in her eyes was considered. She did none of them. The little kitten that now flaunts her claws at him any chance she got glared at him. Pretty little challenge. He was a bit surprised when her hand shot up and she pulled over her shirt forcing him to move back enough to give her space. His jaw ticked but he showed no further emotion, instead, he locked them in and regarded her with a blank gaze. His eyes fixed on her face as she didn't back down from the intense eye lock. She hooked her fingers on the waistband of her trousers and let them pool around her feet, stepping out of them she jutted her chin out in defiance. The fiery fight in her completely overcame the fear and he f*cking hated how his c*ck twitched in his pants. "Open your hair," He must've lost his f*cking mind to demand such things from her. She was just in her black cotton undies that looked ethereal on her creamy unblemished skin whi

A week had passed and Ava had avoided Aiden like a plaque. She left early and got back late. He didn't punish her for going to work again. Thanks to her fate for showing mercy on her. He had disappeared to God knows where. Evan had visited her twice at the bakery in the last week. She told him that she agreed to escape with him and he was glad, he even told her she made the right choice. Though she had made her decision, the lingering fear was still haunting her. She was scared of the possible outcome if they got caught. But she couldn't lose this opportunity because of that fear. Her father and Annie were safe, she might not get this possibility of escaping ever again and she refused to surrender to her fate like this. Ava greeted the customers with a polite smile. She was waiting for Evan to show up any minute. He had planned everything from her fake passport to their secret conveyance. The authorities were helping him. They would leave the country on a private jet and would st
