By the time Alex came out of his closet, I was more clear headed, and the beast had been calmed. I looked up as he came closer to me, noting the way the buttons on his shirt struggled to hold him in.Oh, to be like that button. But I waved that thought from my mind; instead, I focused on his outfit choice. “Do you own any other colors apart from these depressing ones?” All the times I have been here, he was usually in a shade of black or another dark color. Alex looked down at his clothes, his face scrunching into a frown.“It is very practical.” He shrugged.“Yea, whatever.”“Shall we?” Alex asked, stretching out his arms,a huge smile on his face. Charmed, I returned the smile, hooked my arms in his, and let him lead me.Alex drove into town, stopped in front of a store, and this time I waited for him to open the door for me. I deserve all the baby treatment I can get, so if he wants to do it, I will allow him.As we entered the mall, we were immediately bombarded by eager sales reps

The rest of the party was a blur; I only managed to participate in them because Alex was with me, but I was sure the others wouldn’t mind even if I wasn’t there.I had basically loaded myself with the champagne that had been flowing despite Alex trying but failing to keep me away from it; it helped me forget everything around me.It helped me forget the fact that my foster family couldn’t even be around to grace the occasion or the fact that everyone there was looking at me like I was the scum of the earth and a gold digger. At least they got one thing right: I was a gold digger, true and true, and there was no denying that.I closed my eyes as Alex held me close, and we swayed to the soft blue that was flowing out of the speaker. I don’t know if it was because of the drink, but the song was making me mushy, and I clung to Alex like a monkey, letting him guide me through the song.To others, we were a cute couple, but we knew what was going on.“Are you drunk?” Alex questioned me minu

My breasts were rising and falling, even as my nose flared in annoyance as I tried to catch my breath, and I looked at him, raising my eyebrows in question."Why. Did. You. Stop?” I managed to let out in between pants. My body has been set aflame by his touch, and it has awakened every cell in me, yet he had the guts to stop. No, that is not happening on my watch.“Stop?” A smile flickered on his face like a hologram before his lips curled upwards, revealing a smirk, and for a moment, it terrified me. “Now why would I do that? We are just getting started, baby.”“Oh.” My mouth opened

And I did leave it to him, not wanting to ruin the element of surprise. Instead, I got dressed as per his directive, wearing loose pants with a flower design and a crop top.We were on the beach, so I needed something more exposed; maybe I could even get tanned because I was already pale as a ghost.I watched as Alex made some calls trying to put things in place, and I swooned at the baby girl treatment I was getting because, honestly, I deserved it.“What are you looking at?” Alex asked me as he turned to notice that my eyes had been on him, watching him.“I was staring at you.” I told him honestly,

It is funny how the time changes because one minute I was getting hot and heavy with Alex, we were kissing and grinding up against each other, as if the world would end if we dare leave each other, and the next we were on a plane bound for home.Another sigh left me with the thought, but there was nothing much I could do. The situation was beyond our control. I was just sad that my honeymoon was cut short.I had just spent a night there and was almost into the second night. What was most painful was that I had barely gotten to explore the island; I hadn’t even ticked off any items on my bucket list, and I knew there wouldn’t be any next time. But we had to go.One of his managers had called to inform him that one of his properties had caught fire, so we had to go home. Well, I will be going home; the jet will only make a stop in New York before it continues its way to Houston, where the fire happened.“Are you alright?” I shifted in my seat so I could get a better view of him. His hea
