Chris’s POVI waited with bated breath for Linda’s response. I was scared that maybe by my line of questioning, that I had upset her. So I had my fingers crossed as my nerves danced all over the place. “You’re asking me about the five million dollars but you just took out a million dollars too, right?” I chuckled a bit. “Yeah? But was it five million?” My mouth was working on its own, and I feared that I was going to mess this up. I had called her to find out how she was doing, it was never about the money. I did not care even if she took a billion dollars from our account. But here I was, messing it up and letting my ego lead me.I heard her scoff on the other end. “I think you’re forgetting that it’s my money too. It’s a joint account.” Her tone was hard, and I could tell that she was getting annoyed or was already there. “Alright, whatever,” I replied. “Can we just drop it? All I wanted to know was if you were okay, not to start an argument.” She huffed. “So wait, I’m the one

Chris’s POVAdjusting myself in my chair and glancing at the table to make sure that it looked tidy, I was ready for the investors. There was a phone that was on my desk, it was those landline kinds. I took it and pressed a few numbers before putting the phone to my ear. “Yeah, you can send them in now,” I informed my secretary. “Alright, sir. But I hope you’re ready,” She replied before ending the call. What did she mean by that? Instead of thinking too deeply into it, I brushed it off and cleared my throat. My job was to try my best to convince them as to why the company was going to be the best fit for them. With me cut out of the will, there was no safety net for both of my companies. As I waited, I tried my best to ignore my nerves and the dull headache that just did not want to leave me alone. Then they walked in, the investors. “Meghan?” I asked, a mix of shock and confusion filling my mind. “What the hell is going on?” I watched a guy walk in with her. She had a satisfied

Chris’s POVI dropped the call just like I had that I would, not even giving her a chance to protest. The gnawing guilt that I was a billionaire while my aunt whom I loved so much was struggling financially was getting to me, making me feel sick to my stomach. And that was going to change. I waited for her to send me the bank account number, and while I did that, I made another call and told one of my drivers to use one of the other cars that go for her at the coffee shop. When I dropped the call, I noticed a new message and it was from her. I was so glad that she had not given in to her pride. I knew her to be a proud woman, ever since, from growing up. I tapped open the message and I saw exactly what I was waiting for. To be honest, if she did not need money this bad, she would have never sent it. That was the kind of person she was. I mean, yeah, I was still a bit mad to find out that she had been the one to reject me when I was a baby and that it was her brother who had accepte

Chris’s POVI waited with bated breath for my aunt to tell me what she knew. I had a feeling that it was a lot that she was holding back, and I really wanted to know. I was tired of living in secrets. Aunt Maze sighed, putting another spoon of ice cream in her mouth before finally speaking, “Your actual father, William Bill, was a brilliant man. He was on the brink of a medical breakthrough when it came to longevity in humans.”“Okay…” I replied in a small voice, beckoning her to continue. “But…that was when your adoptive father found out about the program. He wanted it for himself and had even tried to reach out to Willaim to buy it from him for a huge sum of money. But the guy said no, and that was the beginning of the end for him.” My heart had a heavy bag of anxiety sitting on top of it. Based on where this seemed to be going, I was not going to like it at all. “What did he do?” My voice was tinged with emotions. She wet her lips and then broke eye contact with me, looking eve

Chris’s POVThe tension that lingered as I waited to hear what my father was about to say was very palpable. I’m not going to lie, my heart was thumping in my chest and adrenaline surged through me. I had stood up to him and it felt good, I would not have had it any other way. “Chris, have you forgotten who you are talking to?” The man replied in a hard tone. “So you think you have grown balls now because you have chosen to betray your family. Do you think that is what makes you a man? You’re a f*cking coward.” He started to laugh deeply. I swallowed, taking in a huge breath and releasing it slowly as a way to calm myself. I could feel the anger rising in me, and if I did not collect myself, I knew that I was going to say something that I should not say. Yes, I now knew about what he had done to William and me, but I did not want him to know that I knew the truth just yet. Because if he knew that I knew, he would know that it was because of Aunt Maze. I did not want to put her in
