Chapter 21 A piece of my mind.

Emily's POV I stood still, watching the altercation that was about to unfold between Collin and Logan. The room grew silent, the tension palpable with my heartbeat echoing in my ears. My heart skipped a beat as Collin appeared in front of Logan, his face etched with disgust and rage. Knowing they were nothing but rivals, their presence garnered a lot of attention and I could hear whispers from other celebrities who were in the room with us. "I heard Emerald was previously married to logan. She has moved on since their divorce, but Logan appears to have not. I believe he still has his eyes on her." Taylor, a famous upcoming singer in a black sheath gown and cashmere said, her face filled with a heavy makeup. I felt my heart crumble like a wrinkled paper, each breath felt like a dagger poking my chest as I listened to their gossip. “It’s Logan's loss by the way. Emerald is now involved in a relationship with Collins. I'm sure she can never go back to Logan..” Cecile, a famous

Chapter 22. A text from Anonymous.

Emily’s POV.The news about me and Collin emerging as the winner of the celebrity face event spread like wildfire. It was all over the news and everyone was talking about it. I received a lot of congratulatory messages from friends, fans, well-wishers and even strangers. But one very text left me brooding and worried. It was a text I received from someone anonymous. It says, “I will make sure I come between you and Collin. Don’t stay too happy because he’s not yours alone.”Since I got the message, it still haunted me. Not being able to trace who it was made me even more worried than ever.As days trickled by, I tried to push the unease aside, but it clung to me like shadows I couldn’t shake off. “Who could it be? Who could have sent such a message? Could it be Vivian? Or Cecile?” I asked, a faint sheen of sweat forming on my forehead as I sat up on my bed that early morning. The annoying sound of the alarm pierced the silence, snatching me from my thought zone. Striking it with my

Chapter 23. Second thoughts about my new marriage.

Emily’s POV“You can always tell me what it is that is bothering you.” She began, her voice low and trembling as though the weight of the words I’m about to speak could shatter the fragile calm of the room. Her eyes roamed my features as she eagerly awaited what I had to say. The room grew silent for a few minutes. The only sound was the ticking of the clock on the wall.Scrambling for my phone, I turned it on and scrolled through the past messages I received. She stared at me all through, and I’m certain that a lot of questions must be swirling in her mind.My heart feels like it’s being squeezed and I tried to push down the nervousness that kept gnawing at my chest.“Here it is…” I said, showing her the phone. She took it from my hands, her gaze fixed on the screen as she read the messages. Her eyes sprang wide as she raised her head to face me.“What the f**k! Who is that nuisance?” She asked with raised brows.I shrugged and replied, “I have no clue, Kate. The message alone is dis

Chapter 24. Having the Jitters for a second marriage

Emily's POVNo longer had Kate finished with my makeup than Collin arrived. He came in his white Camry car, looking all dashing in his sophisticated, tailored suit and shades. He had a perm and neatly trimmed his hair. And the smile he had on his face made him even more handsome. I wore a beautiful silky gown with embroideries on the bust area, and my hair hung freely by the right side of my neck with a fringe just above my eyes.Kate’s slight smokey eye makeup made my dark eyes pop, and she attached beautiful dangling earrings to my earlobes.“Have fun, Emerald. Remember what I told you,” Kate whispered in my ears and I nodded curtly, keeping my smile from faltering.Clutching my purse tightly, I breathed deeply, but before I could take a step towards Collin, Carl showed up, his gaze flicking at everyone’s faces.“Mom! Are you going now?” He asked curiously, his eyes radiating with concern.I knelt down to his level and stroked his hair lovingly, my lips curved upward.“Yes, son. I’l

Chapter 25. Look who is here

Emily's POV “Why, Emerald? Is there anything bothering you?” Collin asked, his eyes flashing with curiosity. I sighed faintly, sat upright and placed my hands on his, hoping my response would satisfy his curiosity and not make him think I'm no longer interested in him.“I don't want to get married now because I'm not fully prepared. I'm happy to have found this loving and amazing lover, but I just need more time before finally settling down with you.” .I explained, staring at his curious face which was as calm as the surface of a lake.He stroked my hair, his eyes hovering over my features with great concern.I waited, held my breath as I waited for his response. To my surprise, he leaned towards me and planted a kiss on my forehead.“I totally understand.. I will consider your opinion. I won't influence your decision and I won't hurry you into getting married to me.” Collins eventually spoke, his voice full of conviction.“Thank you,” I responded, a profound sense of relief washi

Chapter 26. Wedding anniversary

Logan’s POVThoughts of Emily’s engagement with Collin have filled my mind, trapping me in an endless loop of curiosity. I couldn’t sleep all night because I knew she must be having the time of her life with Collin at the moment. Winning the highest vote from people at the celebrity face event at Jonathan’s resort has earned them tickets for a free flight to any country of their choice. It’s more like a special trip and a vacation to them, yet I imagine them taking it as though it’s their honeymoon.I couldn’t help but think about the quality moments they’ll spend together.. Will they stroll at certain parks? hike on mountains? Dine at classy restaurants? Have a slow romantic on a dancefloor? Or....I tried to shake those thoughts off my head. I just can’t bring myself to imagine Emily making out with Collin.Screw my life! I’m so bloody jealous right now…The night passed slowly, each minute dragging like an eternity. Dawn crept in through the curtains, casting a pale light across

Chapter 27. Don't be delusional, Logan.

Logan's POV“Are you still in love with Emily?” Lucas's question resounded in my ears and I froze as though he was staring keenly at me in person. I could imagine him standing at my front and staring at me curiously with those gray eyes and thick eyebrows of his.I sighed deeply, unable to say a word. I can't deny that I'm in love with Emily. If I lie to him about it, he definitely won't buy it. With those multiple questions I asked earlier, he must have suspected that I'm curious to know about her because I love her“I haven't gotten a response, Logan. Are you still in love with Emily?” He asked and just before I could respond, Vivian stormed in, dressed in a beautiful silky burgundy dress and Kitten heels. Her hair cascaded at her waist and a breeze came in through the open window and wafted her sensuous perfume into my eager nostrils.I couldn't respond to Lucas because she was around. The reality is, I am still in love with Emily, and I am willing to tell him.A tiny smile pulled

Chapter 28. Who's this Lorenzo?

Emily's POVThe night passed slowly, each minute dragging on like an eternity. Drawn crept in through the curtains, casting a pale light across the beautiful, lavish room. I sat on the bed, squinting as my eyes adjusted to the bright light. My gaze settled on the intricate vaulted ceiling and the dangling glistening Chandelier with cool shades that cast a warm glow in the room. I shifted my gaze to the large window which had a delicate pattern of frost on it.A hint of admiration flashed in my eyes as I took in the appearance of the exquisite hotel I booked with Collin. The architecture of the building was very intricate so it shouldn't be a surprise that it has rooms with heavenly and exquisite features. Houses in Rome are always beautiful, and it's no surprise that it's one country I love to spend my vacation. The king-sized bed was soft, comfy, and posh. The furnitures are classy, the immaculate walls and the polish tiles did justice to the mesmerizing beauty of the entire room.Th

Chapter 29. An invitation.

Emily's POVKate had suggested that I kept a close watch on Lorenzo throughout my stay in Italy. I confessed to her about how curious I was to know him and she had supported my plans on seeing him at Collin's next trip. She's told me to keep an eye on him and I'm definitely going to do that.So that makes it an addition to my tasks.First, I have to bring up a conversation about his female friend so I can know each of their qualities. I'd even love to see them in person and probably from there, I can have an idea or a hint of who the threat is.I badly want to know who sent that text.. and maybe I have to cross some boundaries in order to find out who it is.I'm only doing this to save my marriage with Collin..Heaving a deep sigh, I pressed my lips together, making my lip gloss even on my lips.Anxiety crawled up my sleeves, but I tried to mask my worry with a smile on my face.“Kate…” I called after clutching my phone to my ear.“Yes,” she responded, her voice filled with concern.W

Chapter 30. Isn't she a nuisance?

Emily’s POVSoft conversation and bouts of laughter from adults filled the air as I stepped into the buzz of the mall. The bright lights and colorful displays invited what would be opposite to the weight of the last few days. Today was a special day. I’ll be seeing one of my old friends and an elite designer here in Italy. And guess what? I’m certainly here today. The air was heavy with excitement, with people’s faces etched with joy. The sound of clinking glasses filled the air as some people toasted.A soft smile curled at my lips, but when I sighted a woman in a cream dress with an off-the-shoulder style, I stood frozen at a spot, especially when her gaze locked with mine.Mrs Michaelson– A prominent businesswoman in New York. Logan was the apple of her eyes and she’d always do anything to please him. She’s never liked me since I became Logan’s wife.
