Cindy is back

Chapter 1: Cindy is awake "Shane, ahhh" Alissa felt her entire body grow hotter with each touch around her curves. His lips melted into hers in an all-consuming kiss that made her toes curl. They both fell onto the king-size bed, pulling at each other's clothes in a frenzy, desperate to ravish one another. The two bodies intertwined in so much raw passion. In the dead of night, their moans and groans kept the villa alive with passion. If someone had told Alissa five years ago that she would be in this moment, she would have been skeptical. The man in question was Shane Randall, her husband for the past five years. Alissa had become a stand-in wife for Shane when her foster sister, Cindy Randall, suffered a major car accident and slipped into a coma. A coma which had been in for five years. The mere thought was heartbreaking for Alissa. For Shane, it was a marriage of convenience; Alissa was merely a stand-in for his true love, Cindy Randall. But for Alissa,

You can have him

Chapter 2: You can have him For the umpteenth time, Alissa reread his messages. She had tried to contact him to no avail. Nothing made sense. Cindy Reynolds, her sister, was awake now. Alissa felt tears of happiness fill her eyes; she had been praying non-stop for Cindy to wake up. Without even thinking about what would happen to her marriage with Shane. Unfortunately, when Cindy woke up, her first words were to bash her and paint her black. As always. She tried to decipher what he meant. "Cindy said I tried to kill her? I knew she was a bitch, but not this cruel?" Alissa gritted her teeth and sighed, her face ripped with anger like never before. All through their childhood, Alissa had borne with Cindy's lies, torments, and bullying. But she never thought she would go so far as to accuse her of manslaughter. The worst part was Shane believed her. "Why does that surprise me, Shane? You loved her first, and in your eyes, she would always be pure and i

Free woman now

Chapter 3: You're a Free Woman Now "Fine, Alissa, hand me a pen," Shane agreed, huffing with anger. A pen. At this moment, Alicia froze - she had forgotten to get a pen from home. Still, she decided to search her purse but could not find one. Shrugging, she told him in a nonchalant tone, "I don't have a pen with me." "You don't?" Shane rolled his head back in laughter. He gritted his teeth. "What kind of games are you playing, Alissa?" How could she come over to the hospital with papers but forget a pen? This was surely a part of her plan. When Alissa decided to defend herself, a soft, quiet voice broke through the silence. It was weak and feeble. "I have one." At this, Alissa scoffed, staring at the blue pen. "Of course." "I took it from a nurse," Cindy explained quickly, her voice laced with nervousness, wanting to avoid any conflict. "Shane, you know how much I love drawing, but I couldn't find a pencil, so I borrowed her pen." Being quick-wi

I promise to be good

Chapter 4; I promise to make you proudBack at the hospital, Cindy and Shane shared the bed of the private room, his arm extended over her shoulders in a gentle embrace. On her other hand, an IV drip linked to its stand was flowing at twenty drops per minute.Compared to back when she was comatose, Cindy's face was fuller, and she wore a cheerful smile as they watched the movie *Rain Man*, starring Tom Cruise."Wow, I really love this kissing scene between Raymond and her. It's so awkward and cute, just like when you first kissed me in my parents' basement," Cindy said excitedly, her free arm holding on to him tightly. Due to Shane's lack of response, she lifted her head to check on him.Shane appeared to watch the screen intently; however, after how many years of growing together, Cindy knew he was not in the moment. He must have dazed off."Shane, babe," she called out gently, but got no response."Shane!" Cindy said again, her fingers brushing over his broad shoulders. Still, she r

Good for her

Chapter 5: Good for her "Alissa, can you hand over my towel?" Shane said from the shower. He had forgotten to grab his towel, a habit he couldn't seem to lose. Upon getting no response, Shane called out again, "Alissa, aren't you going to help or are you so desperate to see me naked?" Again, no response. Anger fueled through his veins. "How dare she ignore me," he thought. Shane got out of the bathroom and stepped into their bedroom in his full glory. Water trickled lazily down his six-pack, and he looked like a model straight from a Calvin Klein photoshoot. "Alissa," he called out, his voice growing hard. Drifting his gaze to the bed, his lips turned to a frown when he did not see his clothes laid out, nor even his towel. Usually, Alissa would get everything ready for him and tease him about forgetting his towel, then make him breakfast. "You can't ignore me forever," he seethed as he marched to the walk-in closet to grab a fresh towel. After putting o

Jealous much?

# Chapter 6: Jealous much? In the bathroom, Alissa heard a sharp knock at her bedroom door. She quickly donned a robe and walked towards the door, wondering who could be so impatient. When she opened it, Rita stood there, arms crossed and looking irritated. Her gaze was a mix of disdain and judgment. "Is this how you open the door, barely clothed? Trying to seduce the men in this house?" Alissa lifted her brows, a smirk forming on her lips. "Wow, Rita, jealous much? If you're so concerned about how I look, maybe you should focus on your own wardrobe instead of trying to police mine. Newsflash: I’m not here to cater to your insecurities!" She felt a surge of empowerment; she was done pleasing people. With that, Alissa slammed the door in Rita's face. She could practically hear Rita's mouth drop in surprise. Outside, Rita stomped her feet on the marble floor, her face twisting in anger. "This girl is too arrogant. I will humble her tonight." Pulling out her phone

You're searching for Alisa?

Chapter 7; You are searching for Alissa "You are searching for Alissa?" At this question, Shane froze. He turned to find Cindy dressed in an even shorter dress than before; it was black and had no straps. "It's none of your business, Cindy," Shane replied, his voice tense. Cindy's eyes narrowed as she retorted, her voice rising, "What do you mean, none of my business? We are dating, and you're searching for your ex-wife? Is that normal for you?" "Calm down," Shane said, trying to placate her. He could not understand why she was so angry over a small thing. "I'm searching for her for Grandma. She'll be visiting soon from abroad and wants to see Alissa." "You didn't tell her about your divorce?" Cindy asked, her tone softening slightly. "No," Shane admitted quietly. It never occurred to him that his divorce with Alissa would bring him so many problems. The biggest was his grandmother; how would he explain it to her? "Why?" Cindy pressed, her curiosity

Are you interested?

Chapter 8: Are you interested? "Alissa?" Shane whispered, his voice barely audible. He stared, wide-eyed, as if he had seen a ghost. Cindy, standing beside him, blinked in disbelief. "Alissa? It can't be—" Her voice trailed off when she saw the angel walking down the stairs. As her eyes landed on the man next to her, she couldn't help but admire his striking features. "Who is that guy?" she asked, her curiosity piqued. "He's extremely handsome." Shane was too much in shock to answer any questions. His attention keenly on his ex-wife, he had never seen her clothes like that before. She looked enchanting. However, Cindy continued to rant about the hot guy instead. "In fact, he's the first man I've seen who could match your visuals." Cindy smirked playfully. "And he looks wealthy too. That's too good to be true." She tapped Shane on the shoulder, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "That's Alissa, right?" "I think so," Shane replied, his tone laced with uncertai

What if you lose?

Chapter 9: What if you lose? "Do you agree, Rita? Are you willing to risk your position for your beliefs?" Fabrice inquired, his eyes squinting. Stunned , Rita blinked severally at his words. The words replayed in her head for sometime. It was an opportunity she could not let it slip out of her hand. She inquired, "But what if I was right? What will I get in return? Or would I get to keep my position? That doesn't seem exciting." The smile on the old man's face grew wider with interest. His little granddaughter was more mischievous than he had earlier thought. He needed to make the deal more interesting. "Will you make me the CEO if she fails?" Rita asked, her heart racing beyond control. It was daring to ask, but she never knew herself as a coward. Maybe it was time she stepped up her game. The old man could not help but smile at her confidence. He had reflected the same confidence in Alissa. It made him impressed, he asked "You are quite ambitious, aren't

He's not a baby

Chapter 10: he's not a baby The evening breeze blew across the city, twinkling stars littering the partly gloomy sky. It was dinner time for the Reynolds; the family gathered at the table, chatting away as they ate their food. The topic switched from the increasing prices of groceries to politics, then back to the Kincaid party. No one ever got over that one. Playing with her food with a fork, Cindy stirred the discussion to a different area: "Can you believe it? Alissa in the arms of another man. Hahaha! I never thought she would be so sly." Upon hearing this, Shane's hands stopped midway; he had picked up pig skins to add to Cindy's plate. The mention of Alissa left a bitter taste in his mouth; instead of serving Cindy, he shoveled the food into his mouth, trying to aggressively chew his feelings away.
