Chapter 51: Following Me!

Ethan’s POV:Panic-stricken, while I was fleeing for my life and crying out Zeus’s name, suddenly, I sensed the cryptic figure that was following next to me until now rushed forward, blocking my way ahead on the giant highway. Startled by its frightening speed I thought it was finally about to pounce on me, out of panic my feet stumbled, making me fall to the ground. Unable to counter the devastating consequences awaiting me, I hurriedly closed my eyes. Folding my arms, I couldn’t help but whimper from fear, “P-Please don’t kill me…(hic)...I…I won’t taste good either…I have several diseases…so please have mercy—”“If this was truly a wild animal, do you think your begging would’ve actually worked, you fool?” The insulting voice was very familiar, and even though I initially considered that irritating, right now in this absurd situation, the voice sounded like a wave of relief that washed over me. With a quick jolt I opened my tearful eyes and saw Anna was standing right before me w

Chapter 52: Progress

Ethan’s POV:Despite my startled question, Anna calmly stretched her arms and shoulder, looking quite serious from her appearance which made me instantly realize that she wasn’t joking at all. But hearing a petite woman like her was asking to carry a big man like myself on our way back home…it was normal to be shocked, right? When a brief pause fell between us, Anna rolled her brown eyes while looking a little annoyed from her glare, “I don’t like repeating my words. Didn’t I say…to come over here?” “Y-You…are seriously going to carry me? Why…I-I can walk on my—”“I don’t have the leisure to indulge in your bluff. We need to return to the mansion as soon as possible because Master might have already reached there.” This time Anna didn’t wait for my permission and marched close to me, sounding very rigid in her tone. “Besides, with your pace of walking…it would take us a long time to reach and I don’t have that kind of patience with me. So, will you excuse me?” “Hey, b-but…a woman is

Chapter 53: Denied Destiny

Ethan’s POV: Even though Anna taunted me with her sneer, as if she was indeed irked by my curious inquiries, I casually shrugged, voicing my opinion, “No thanks. I don’t wish for cannibalism. But if I being honest, I am quite curious to know…what humans taste like?” “Awful and putrid.” Suddenly her sneer disappeared and I saw Anna making a scornful grimace as she diverted her gaze away from me. The answer seemed to come out straight through her heart, clearly depicting her utmost disgust when she said it. But until now, I was expecting maybe it would be an exotic taste that must have made Zeus hooked upon it. However, reading her face, I also clearly reminisced that last night inside the Black Woods, Zeus didn’t seem very happy either while devouring that man’s flesh and blood, even though he tried to scare me off quite a number of times. So if humans really do not suit their palate…then why bother continuing to attack and devour them? I knew Anna wouldn’t be able to answer this

Chapter 54: Limp!

Ethan’s POV:It has been only a couple of hours since we had seen each other, but under the glistening moonlight, I flinched hard, watching Zeus’s face look completely pale and lifeless. His porcelain white complexion seemed a little reddened, and he was scrunching his brows while making a pained face, but his every gesture made me quite anxious for him. Zeus didn’t try to shove my hand away from him, neither he took a step ahead, but just touching him by his wrist, I felt his body temperature had turned absurdly cold, as if it was similar to the feeling of touching a corpse! His eyelashes blinked a few times, when I saw Zeus making a pained face, while his chapped lips quivered in a husky voice, “Ethan, can we talk later?” “Nope…I am not letting you slip away from my palm, just like you did in the morning.” However, a strange wave of desperation had overwhelmed me as I clenched onto his left wrist a bit tightly, to make sure I wouldn’t lose my hold on him this time. Watching his p

Chapter 55: His wife?

Ethan’s POV:As an aftermath of my panicked howl, Anna came rushing towards the blood-stained hallway and just like me, she was equally consumed with distress and disbelief to watch Zeus in that miserable state. He had already fainted in my arms by now, and no matter how hard I screamed with tears burning down my throat, he didn’t open his eyes for once. I could feel his breathing was turning shallow, and his body temperature felt cold as a block of ice. But despite his condition, Zeus was still holding onto my arm with his trembling fingertips. Even though I was having a hard time processing the uncertain turn of events, Anna regained her calmness very quickly and rushed towards us, before instructing me to bring Zeus to his room upstairs. Both of us held him tight on both his sides, but I couldn’t help but clench my hold tighter on him, even though I was soaked with his blood. But my body and mind reacted on their own, as if just with my presence I wanted to convey to Zeus that

Chapter 56: His hands

Ethan’s POV:After being frantically scolded by Anna, I tried to hold onto my silence to ensure I wouldn’t get on her nerves too much while she did her best to treat wounded Zeus. Though I couldn’t recognize why the uneasiness kept on growing inside me vigorously from watching Zeus in such a miserable state, her raging blue eyes served as a major warning to me that I mustn’t try to do anything that might trigger her wrath to attack or throw me out of the room instead. At the very least, I wanted to stay by Zeus’s side for now. From what I have read in the ancient literature, werewolves were the deadly mythical beasts who once ruled the world and acted on their impulses to attain their dominance, unlike humans who were treated as their slaves and only allowed to use emotions more. Thus when I fell silent, I saw Anna quietly pressing Zeus’s wounded areas with her palms mixed with concoctions, and chanted something with a murmur sound, following which an illuminant bluish flame emitt

Chapter 57: I think I like you!

Ethan’s POV:As much as I deliberately tried to hide my flustered face in response to Anna’s sarcastic taunt, when she exited the room and closed the door behind her, a heavy exhale fell off me. I averted my gaze back on Zeus’s numb, and completely still face as I grabbed my seat next to him on the bedside. I dimmed the bright lights glowing in the room to make sure he would have a restful sleep, but even with the gentle moonlit beaming through the window inside, Zeus still appeared extremely alluring like a Prince of Night, making me unable to take my eyes off him. Being lost in his magnetic charm, I slowly reached my hand out to touch him on his side- face softly, as if I unknowingly wanted to make sure that he was alive, comparing how listless he was lying down before me. My fingers gently grazed against his pale smooth skin, but the freezing cold temperature of his body startled me a bit hard as I whined at him on my own. “Hey…why is your body cold as a block of ice? You…aren’t

Chpter 58: My mate!

Ethan’s POV:With an unusual jolt, I blinked and found myself lying down on a heap of dried leaves, at the center of a dark cryptic forest. A faint trace of moonlight was visible inside that pitch-black forest, but the eerie atmosphere surrounding me left me pretty baffled for a while. Even though I couldn’t initially fathom how I reached inside this deep cryptic forest when I was seated next to Zeus a while ago inside his room. After a brief contemplation, when I admitted my feelings for him it had turned me flustered red from the aftermath of the realization, making my cheeks flustered red, and my head spin with all the chaotic emotions gushing inside me. My body temperature was rising to the point that I felt like I might get a heat stroke…but how the hell did I arrive at this thick scary forest? But while I deliberately gazed around myself, suddenly I sensed a peculiar familiarity amidst the surroundings which made me conclude that it wasn’t even real. I had initially hoped that

Chapter 59: Smile at me

Ethan’s POV:The second Zeus placed his lips on mine, a jolt of electric current stuck in me and I stood awestruck with my eyes wide open, unknowingly accepting his advances. In that glamorous knight armor with that shimmering long black hair that drifted along with the mild night breeze wafting past us in the middle of that dark forest, for a second the ethereal moment left me to stunned to even breathe. It was the second time Zeus drew me into a kiss, but unlike the first time when he intently played it a bit rough, this time, his warm hands held me tenderly by my waist, and he placed his other arm cupping my face. But I was quite taken aback to realize he was treating me way a bit too gently as if I was someone too precious to him to apply a minimal force on my body! Moreover, when he whispered into my ears earlier, calling me ‘his mate’, I saw his rolled onyx eyes filled with pure devotion, and an ardent flare of passion as if at that moment he wanted to scream before the whole

Chapter 60: Tell Me Sophia?

Zeus’s POV:With a sudden jolt, I woke up from my deep slumber, hearing the sound of mild canary birds chirping close to me. While trying to blink open my drowsy eyes, my head felt quite heavy with a dull pain aching all over my body, leaving me at a sluggish state. When my drowsy vision cleared up a little, the memories from last night were slowly retrieved in my mind. Fighting alone against those bunch of warrior betas while getting stabbed by wolfsbane-soaked silver daggers, I still managed to return home in a bloodsoaked state, only to collapse in Ethan’s arms, who seemed oddly at edge while trying to confront me. Watching me collapse all of a sudden must have made him hysterical, as by now I was already aware of his habit of losing nerve quickly whenever a tough situation arose…and compared to him, I was the calmer one to handle him with care. So, when my vision almost cleared up, and I hoped to go looking around for Ethan to finish our conversation from last night, suddenly,
