~Isabelle~“What?”I froze by the doorway, my heart almost stopped beating when I heard what Victor’s family was talking about. They turned to look at me staring at them, I couldn’t move neither could utter a word I just stood there looking at them.“Well, you heard us right, Sara here is carrying Victor’s child. This is something that you could never do, always being a burden to us all. I told Victor not to leave this sweet girl for your sake but he wouldn’t listen. He instead didn’t pay any attention to me and married a gold digger like you.” Laura looked at me with disgust in her eyes, I held the paper I had in my hands tight trying my best not to cry.Yes, she was right, for the past four years I have been married to Victor I have had a series of miscarriages. I always prayed that I would be able to make my family happy with a child, my prayers were finally answered but at what cost.“At least Victor will finally see who really does love him, instead of letting a parasite live with

~Isabelle~“What did you just say?” Victor was looking at me with disbelief in his eyes, I didn’t know what had pushed me to say what I had said but then there was no way I was going back into that house.“I said that I want a divorce Mr. Victor Walters, I can’t live in this pain anymore.” I was looking at him, I was holding back the tears in my eye as I said those words. I might have been in pain but I still didn’t know why I couldn’t stop loving him.“Do you know what you are saying? That you want to divorce me, you must be drunk or something. Maybe...”“I am not drunk!” I yelled out of anger and pain, Victor kept looking at me. This was the first time he had ever seen me this way, or maybe this was the first time I had ever talked back to him.“I am not drunk; I have had enough of all this pain. I have been insulted and humiliated for too long, I endured it all because I love you, but every time you always find a way to shove it in my face and tell me that there is no need for my lo

~Isabelle~I stared at my phone for a couple of seconds, surprised that Jason had called me; of all people, my brother, after all this time, and I could not really explain how it made me feel. I was still struggling with calling Jason back or simply waiting to see if he would call back when Sasha came back.“Hope I didn’t stay long,” Sasha said as she slid into the chair close to my bed.She had some food in a food pack and soft drinks with her.“No, you didn’t,” I answered, but my mind was somewhere else.“Is everything okay?” Sasha asked. “You look a little pale,” she added. When I wasn’t responding, Sasha began to bring out the food from the food pack. “I got you some food to cheer you up, and don’t worry; the doctor assured me that you could have them,” Sasha said, feeling fulfilled with herself.“Jason called me,” I blurted out.Sasha knew everything about leaving my family and marrying Victor. She was aware that I had been estranged from my family for years now; I hadn’t spoken

~Isabelle~As soon as Victor finished signing the divorce papers, his lawyer handed my copy over to Barrister Andrew.“It is done,” he said. “You two are now officially divorced,” he added. The words sounded like music to my ears, and even though I saw Victor sign, I still wanted the satisfaction of seeing it for myself, so I looked at it again, and indeed, it was Victor’s signature, not that he would give a fake signature anyway.“Is there anything anyone would like to say?” Victor’s lawyer asked.“No,” I answered instantly, and the look of shock that showed in Victor’s face was unmistakable. “We are officially divorced, as you rightly confirmed, so what are we possibly supposed to say to each other, congratulations?” I sneered.Even Victor’s lawyer was taken aback by my mocking tone.In fact, as soon as it was done, I wanted to stand up instantly and leave so that I would get away from Victor as fast as possible, but then again, Jason was outside waiting for me. If I got up and left

~Victor~“Are you sure?” Laura asked, her voice dripping in disbelief.I could not also believe what I saw myself. If not that Mona had mentioned it, I did not even think of it when I went through the divorce paper. I would have fought her tooth and nail, but then again, Isabelle did not go with any dime, especially with her current predicament, how was she going to cope? What even gave Isabelle the audacity?“It is right here,” I said and handed the divorce paper to my mum.Mona also came downstairs and went through the paper with my mum and they both saw that truly, Isabelle did not demand a dime.“Well, good riddance to bad rubbish then,” my mum said dismissively as she handed the divorce paper back to me. “Why did you go without telling any of us, anyway?” She asked.“That was the instruction,” I answered quietly, but my mind was just elsewhere.“I am just glad that she knew the right thing to do by getting out of our lives,” Mona said, her voice dripping with hatred. “Now you can
