Lahat ng Kabanata ng Sinful Temptation: Nursing the Mafia Boss: Kabanata 81 - Kabanata 90

The words felt wrong on Rose’s tongue, and yet they lingered in the air, sharp enough to make Ludo take an uncertain step back, eyes narrowed slightly in confusion. The man didn’t utter a word, not to tell her she was insane, and not to question her either. Instead, he looked at Rose’s mom, the weight of his gaze making the latter uncomfortable. Rose wished the ground would open up and swallow her whole. This wasn’t a situation she wished on her enemy, if she ever had one. The awkwardness that choked her, the shame gnawing at her insides, and the longing – that damned longing – she could never really let go of… everything made the situation confusing and downright infuriating. Rose didn’t get to breathe a word before her mom let out, “You look different.” The words were slightly slurred, and only made the many years the woman failed to show up that much more painful. “I bet,” she couldn’t help the scoff that escaped her. “I was a teen when you left.” “And you’re a woman now,” h

Rose made it to the bedroom in a little bit of a daze, her mind far in the clouds, deep in thought about the underworld she had stepped into over 2 months ago, without fully understanding the stakes. Roman went to his office, claiming he had some matters to take care of, and she couldn’t help but wonder if he just didn’t want to be with her. Getting in the shower felt like a blissful time, despite the memories of the day’s events. Everything kept replaying in a loop, and a headache was on its way to make the day even better. She could understand that her questions and accusations might bother Roman… She was sure he was not used to people using such a tone with him. And yet, she was dealing with a lot. Could anyone blame her? Hell, couldn’t he be more understanding, and help her with her doubts? Before long, she changed into the only demure, and somewhat not too outrageous, pajamas she had in the closet, laid on the bed, and just continued to overthink – and cry too. Almost too soo

Roman received a call from Flora for the first time in a very long time. He was in an important meeting, of which she was more or less aware. He knew she wouldn’t call him unless it was urgent – she knew better than to call for something trivial. He had yet to hear what she had to say. And yet, he was already frowning ever so slightly. He was Roman Bianchi, and he didn’t know fear, but something about this call upset him in more ways than one. “Speak,” he ordered. “It’s Rose,” she let out in a panicked tone of voice, which was so unlike her, he feared for the worst. “She passed out, and won’t wake up. I don’t know what to do.” “On my way,” he told her briskly, rising to his feet without delay. A curt nod at Stefan, and the latter was soon telling them, in a not so courteous tone of voice, “Meeting adjourned, gentlemen. Let’s meet again in a few days.” “What could be so important…?” One of them dared to sneer, his displeasure obvious for all to see – and to hear. Roman wasn’t l

For the next 3 weeks, Rose lacked for nothing, and had never been this pampered in her lifetime. Yet, no amount of desserts, and no amount of gifts, nothing really, managed to bring a genuine smile to her face. Ever since she had lost the baby she hadn’t even known she was carrying, she was no longer whole. And though Roman had assured her, time and time again, that it wasn’t her fault, she couldn’t help but think that it was. She had only gone back to the base a week ago. The hospital stay was only this long to ensure she would rest well. “I’d like to sleep in the guest bedroom,” she told Roman on the ride back. He gave her a look before saying, “You belong in the master bedroom, little butterfly.” She wasn’t sure whether he was secretly worried she might collapse again, or if he just didn’t like the challenge, and ended up agreeing – because what was she supposed to do really? She knew she was already in too deep. And navigating troubled waters, she didn’t bother hiding the

Rose was finally no longer on bed rest. She felt like she could breathe again, smile again, and even live again, despite the void that sometimes threatened to consume her. Sure, she wasn’t quite at the stage where she felt whole again, but she was plenty thankful for the surprisingly quiet life she led at the base. That being said, considering how much Roman, and everyone really, attended to her as if she were made of glass, she hadn’t had the chance to check on Mey in quite some time. Sure, she called Dr Cooper every few days, but that wasn’t quite enough in her book. That day, she finally mustered the courage to ask Enzo for a ride to the vet, “I’d love to go see Mey.” Because of his injury and their almost fraternal bond, Enzo had become her shadow somewhat; fretting over her like a mother hen, caring for her like a brother, and telling her dad jokes good enough to make her giggle often. “I’m going to have to ask the boss first,” he offered her a sheepish smile. “You can do
