Hera POVI smile triumphantly as Jimena scrambles away, terrified. The bitch thought she could seduce my man under my watch! What a joke. I'll not be MG if I allow her to take me for a fool and treat me like someone she can compete with. After making sure she is gone, I get down to make our breakfast. I've never done this before--cooking for a man. It's a first for me and to be honest, I am worried. What if he doesn't like my cooking? I should have probably let Jimena prepare breakfast but my pride as Mason's girlfriend would not let me do that. I am not giving that snake a chance to appear before my man at any given point. I choose to make something I am good with and what lily loves the most. I am busying myself flipping my pancakes when an arm wraps around my waist. I don't need to turn around to know who it is. The scent of his favourite cologne envelops my senses. I close my eyes for a second, relishing his closeness. He makes me feel loved, protected."Hey." I lean my head aga

Zero POV Note: this chapter goes in hand with chapter 67. I stand outside Hera's house, my hand hovering near the door, contemplating whether I should knock or just turn around and walk away. I still don't understand how Mason managed to convince me that I should come and have a talk with Chloe. That bastard clearly had other plans with Hera and what better way than to discard me. Now, here I am acting like a fool. I don't know if talking with Chloe is a good move. I am not sure if I am doing the right thing. What if she doesn't want anything to do with me?Not even holding a decent conversation.I know for a fact that she was avoiding me that night. I saw it myself and to be honest it bothered me. After waking my brain a thousand times I still haven't come up with a good reason as to why she would do that.I would really feel bad if it turns out that she is uncomfortable around me. But why would she be? Well I guess I wouldn't know if I didn't ask. Gathering my courage and wishing

Hera POV My car comes to an abrupt stop at the driveway. I jump out and race towards the house,my heart beating so fast that it could pop out of my chest. Pushing the door open,I head upstairs to Chloe's room. “What happened?” I ask, rushing to her side. She's lying in bed,her head buried between pillows. Slowly, she turns around and sits up. I frantically inspect her body. When I confirm that she is alright,I slump on the bed besides her, releasing a sigh of relief.“ What the hell was that message about?” I ask. Chloe pouts, blinking her eyes like a lost puppy.“ I just want to scream so much!” She replies after a moment of silence. I raise my eyebrows at her.“ So the said emergency was you wanting to scream?” I ask with an unbelievable look on my face. She had me panicking and driving my car as if I was racing.Chloe nods and I give her a ‘ you can't be serious look.’“ I screwed things up last night.” She confesses. Last night? Then it hits me. Mason mentioned something about Z

Zero pov The humid air sticks to my skin, thick and heavy, like it’s trying to slow me down. Chinatown’s alive with a low hum, neon signs buzzing, their pink and green glow bouncing off wet streets. The air is sharp with incense and the sizzle of street food frying nearby. Strolling down the busy streets, you would think you just transmigrated to China. My boots splash through puddles. I can't help the guilt gnawing at my chest, a dull ache I can’t shake. I lied to Mason again—that makes me very unsettled. We have fought many battles together side by side, gone through life and death. That is how our brotherhood was forged. When he gave me that look and I had to convince him I wasn't lying,it felt like I was betraying the one person who’s always had my back. But it’s for his safety, I tell myself, even if the thought feels flimsy, like it might snap under the weight of my doubt. Hera strides beside me, all fire and reckless energy, her leather jacket catching the neon light. She

Hera POV Zero looks at me with widened eyes. He knows what that means. Mason on the other hand looks lost, like he isn't understanding a word I am saying.“ What's that supposed to mean?”he asks and I swallow hard. Mason has his eyes trained on me,unblinking. For a moment I contemplate keeping the truth from him again but I realise at this point,I can't do that any more.I step forward, my voice shaking, barely loud enough to cut through the silence. “ I took the hit on you. I am supposed to be the one hunting you down.” I confess. It feels hard those words coming from my mouth but I know they have to be said, eventually.Mason’s face freezes, like I just slapped him. His eyes turn from Zero to me, wide with shock, then narrow with a pain so raw it makes my throat close up. “You took a hit on me?” he says, his voice low, trembling with hurt and anger. “You, Hera?”“I didn’t know it was you at first,” I say, the words spilling out, desperate. “It was just a job, a name, a price.
