Chapter 70

EmAfter her moms comment about being a therapist Em had an idea. Once she and Carol finished talking, they each shared some ice cream and then went up to bed. But Em still had a nagging feeling in the back of her mind. The noise she had heard earlier… could that of been her mom returning home? Maybe. But she could’ve sworn it came from the back yard. Plus all the weird phone calls…. she couldn’t stop thinking about it. She looked at the clock.. 11:00. It was late, but she couldn’t wait. She picked up her phone and dialed the number. It rang three times, and she started to hang up. But then…..“Emerson?” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Em felt bad about calling Evan this late but .. he had told her to call him day or night. She apologized over and over. To which he ended up having to tell her to stop doing. And then she told him what had happened. She told him about Quinn, and Finley, and how Finley hated her and so she had dug up information about her past… and according to Quinn, she h

Chapter 71

EmQuinn stayed mad. He ignored and avoided her the rest of the day. She decided to give him some space but… she didn’t appreciate the behavior. The next day she had just about decided to give him an earful, when he texted her and asked if she would still come to the fight. “Okay”. Was all she replied. She didn’t like this weirdness between them. They were in the middle of their first real fight, and now she had to go watch the part of him that she was most afraid of. The girls came over to get ready. What does one wear to an underground fight? She had no idea. They decided to go comfy and cute. It was getting really cold at night now, so Em wore her cutest cream colored leggings, and a long sleeve cream body suit. She wore her boots, and a puffy brown jacket. Then they were off. They followed the directions Asher had sent to her, driving to the outside of town, they turned down several side roads and back roads that were gravel. The further out they got, the more Em felt

Chapter 72

EmQuinn was down beside one of the rings at the far end of the building. She guessed he was about to get inside. Her stomach lurched. Partially to see him, partially because she was scared about him fighting, and partially because of their argument. She didn’t really know what had set him off. Maybe because he was protective and this had to do with her safety. Even though nothing came out of it. River was miles away and she had just been being paranoid. Or maybe jealousy over Evan, even though he knew nothing happened between them, Evan was a big part of her life. “I see Quinn”. Em said. At the same time Sylvia said “there’s Asher.” They headed down towards the ring that was at the other side of the building. They had to hang on to each others hands to not get separated, there were so many people walking every which way. Finally after what seemed like forever, they were walking down the steps into the ‘pit’ area. Asher waved them over. He was standing fairly close to the

Chapter 73

EmEmory? Em laughed to herself. Aspen turned around and found Em.. she mouthed the word ‘Emory ??’ Em snorted and held up her hands … she had no idea. She should’ve asked him what his middle name was. Emory and Emerson… The crowd went wild. Cheers erupted. People were yelling and whistling. She had to admit the mood and the wildness of the place made her feel excited. She understood the pull. Quinn once again looked up at her. She smiled at him and then he put his focus on the guy coming into the ring. The announcer said his name too, but Em didn’t hear it. People were too loud and too much was going on around her. A couple of men a few feet away from her were in a shouting match. Someone behind her tripped and grabbed her shoulder to keep from falling. Em got a sudden uneasy feeling. The girl that grabbed her had apologized but it scared Em more than it should have. Quinn looked up at her again. Grey leaned over and said something to Asher about him being ‘too preoccupie

Chapter 74

PART 3QuinnQuinn was in rare form. He had been so worried about their argument, he didn’t really think Em would still come. This really wasn’t her scene. So when he spotted her through the crowd he felt a weight lift off his chest. He kept looking up at her, worried a little that all the people and noise would set her anxiety off. But Asher and Grey were there and each time he looked she gave him a smile. He was in the zone though, never took his eyes off his opponent after that bell rang. He felt like he was especially on fire tonight, and he knew it was because of Em. He didn’t know which one was better, her being there… watching him on his own turf… or the fact that she had forgiven him for the argument they had. The guy got in a hit every now and then… but Quinn allowed it. He had to keep it interesting after all or no one would come watch the fights… and no one would get in the ring with him if they didn’t think they stood half a chance. He thought about what Elias ha

Chapter 75

QuinnQuinn never got scared. Even when he was a kid, things just didn’t scare him. He of course got upset, got angry, but never actually afraid. Even when his mom had gone missing. He was worried, that was a given. But actually being frightened was an emotion he just didn’t have. But right now, in this moment, he was scared shitless. His stomach was lurching… he felt like he might pass out. Whether that was from getting hit in the head just now… or the dread that was crawling up his body.. he didn’t know. “What the fuck do you mean?! Where is she??” He yelled. By now Elias and Chase and gotten there and they all stood in a group. “She was literally right here and now she’s gone. We don’t know where she went.” Asher said. “What the fuck?” Quinn’s head began to pound. “Did she go to the bathroom?? Or maybe to get a drink?” Aspen said. “She’s not in the bathroom we’ve been standing in front of the door this whole time. We went earlier and couldn’t get back for all the peo

Chapter 76

EmEm opened her eyes slowly.. barely. She closed them again. This happened over and over before she could keep them opened for longer than two seconds. Ugh. She felt awful. Did she have a hangover? What had she done last night?Wait. Where was she?? She tried to sit up but couldn’t. Her head felt like it weighed about seven hundred pounds. She had felt this way before when ….. Then … it all came back. The fight. The water. The guy. Oh god. Oh please no. No not again. Tears immediately started running down her face. She looked around. She was in some small bedroom. She was on the bed and she could see a dresser with some clothes and knick knacks on it, a tv sat on top of another chest…. and some piece of exercise equipment was in the corner. She saw an old desk with a laptop, and beside the laptop were tons and tons of pills. Pills and baggies with different drugs in them. Oh no. She tried again to lift her head and this time she was a little more successful. She looked d

Chapter 77

QuinnIt took him a moment to understand what was going on. He heard the voice on the phone, he heard the person call him ‘brother’ but in his shell shocked state, he couldn’t comprehend it. After a couple seconds though, everything came together. Quinn was shaking. A tsunami of anger and rage went plowing through him. He knew right then.. Huxley was behind this. Quinn was shaking so much Asher took the phone from his ear and put it on speaker. “How’s it going … bro? I’m pretty hurt that you didn’t bother reaching out … even when I got home.”The group all shared horrified looks with one another when they realized who was on the phone. “WHERE. IS. SHE. “ Quinn barely got the words out. “Ah ah ah” Hux teased. “That’s not how we ask for things Quinn.”“I will fucking kill you.” Quinn said lowly .. his entire body vibrating. “Sounds like you’ve still got some anger issues.” Hux responded. “If you put one finger on her…”But his brother cut him off. “Keep your phone close..

Chapter 78

EmShe was going in and out of sleep, wondering how she would ever get out of this mess. I can’t believe this is happening again.. she thought. She reached down and touched the tattoo on her side, letting her fingers glide over her dad’s words. No. She had to fight. She could not, would not, give up. She had people that needed her…. like her mom and Sawyer… her friends, Asher and Quinn. Quinn would come for her, but she had to try and get out of here on her own. She pushed herself up on the bed shaking her head slightly… willing the drugs to get out of her system. She sat up more and tried to turn and put her feet on the floor. It took a few tries but she made it. She sat there a moment… huffing.. just that small movement had taken alot out of her. She remembered it had been hours before she had woken up fully when River had drugged her. Clink clink clink Em lifted her head. What? What was that? Was she hallucinating now? Tap tap tap. No. She heard it again. Someone

Chapter 79

QuinnQuinn looked at his friends. He honestly didn’t know what he would do without them all, especially right now in this moment, when everything had turned to shit. Asher, who now had tears in his eyes along with the girls.. simply said “let’s go.”Quinn wasn’t crying though. Quinn was livid. He was going to kill Hux. Plus he never cried. Ever. Well maybe once but that was all. No matter what the situation was, he held strong. No, anger was the emotion he was having at the moment. But. He was also scared to death. He didn’t know what he would do if Huxley hurt Emerson. But whatever it was, it was nothing good. No one of them would end up dead before this was over. He and the boys headed off towards Asher’s jeep when Aspen yelled “wait! We’re coming!”“NO!” Quinn barked at her. Then he faltered, feeling bad for snapping on her. He knew she was worried sick too. “Look. I can’t protect you. Finleys already gone off on some martyr exhibition. Just please….. wait here.” He t
