ADELINE'S POV Maybe he was right. Maybe I was just being paranoid. That night, I couldn't sleep. I kept thinking about the surgery. About the baby. About Blake somewhere back home, looking for me. Did he want to find me to hurt me more? Or did he finally realize what he had done? I would never know. Around midnight, Nurse Sarah came back into my room. "How are you feeling, Mrs. Rhodes?" ADELINE'S POV I put my hand on my belly. The baby I might lose anyway if I had the surgery. "I'll figure something out." "Adeline, this is crazy. You need medical care." "I need to be alive first." I got out of bed slowly. My legs were weak, but I could walk. "Help me pack." "I'm not helping you pack. You're being irrational." "Then I'll pack myself." I started putting my few clothes in a bag. My hands were shaking, but I kept going. "Adeline, stop," Harrison said. "You're going to hurt yourself." "I'm already hurt. I'm dying, remember?" Adeline's POV I woke up to the sound of machines beeping. Everything hurts. My whole body felt like it was on fire. "She's awake," someone said. I tried to open my eyes, but they felt so heavy.
