NINA “You fucking bitch!!” Jeremiah was on me before I could take my next breath, his fingers tangled in my hair, his breath harsh against my face as he loomed over me like a storm given flesh. “How dare you?” Each word was a strangled threat as he shook me, hard enough to rattle my teeth and bones. “Jeremiah!” Lachlan snapped, his hands coming up to dislodge my husband’s hold off me. But Jeremiah ignored him and kept his steely grey eyes on me, merciless and beautiful like silver lightening in the dark sky. He leaned down, his face a mask of cold fury as he gritted out, “I am going to kill you.” I believed him. God, I believed him. I was a fool to think he wouldn’t. But I could see it in his eyes, he will. “Jer—” He lifted his hand as if to slap me and I closed my eyes, cowering, waiting for the hit but it never came. Lachlan pushed Jeremiah away with enough force that when his tight grip on my hair released, I fell back, slamming into the counter.
