Carly’s POVI stared curiously at the gray-haired doctor sitting behind the desk at my opposite, his wrinkled brows furrowed into a deep frown. His gaze fixed intently on the medical report in his hands, and he scratched his forehead awkwardly, releasing a heavy sigh which made a feeling of anxiousness settled in me. I swallowed hard as the anxiousness in me transformed into a great fear, eating me up slowly. I had come to the hospital to have a check-up when I felt that I was sick, really sick. And the symptoms weren’t similar with any ordinary other illness, it was related to the same ones my mother had experienced before her passing. And since then I had become scared, scared that I might have inherited her disease. I had prayed that it wouldn’t be what I had hoped , because it wouldn’t do me anything good, going earlier and leaving the ones...“ According to the tests we constructed, and the result is in this paper. It's just that..." He paused, his eyes locking onto mine. I kne

Steven's Pov My mouth curled into an amusing smile as I watched the lady gulped down glasses of liquor. I had tried to stop her but she told me that she needed some liquor to quench the sadness and pain she was feeling inside her. And now, she was hammered.Everything about her captivated me, apart from her being beautiful and pretty, she had a carefree spirit. I had never felt such a strong attraction to any woman like this before, I was totally drawn into her. After rescuing her from her clingy boyfriend, or whoever he was. We had ended up in at the hotel bar. Without a word, she ordered a drink, gulped down the whole glass, and then ordered another. And in a short period of time she had finished two bottles.I wasn't the type of man to pry into other's business, yet I couldn't help the curiosity that was eating me up. What had driven her to drink like this? “Why the binge drinking?" I asked, staring at her intently. “What happened?" I added softly. I didn't know why I was act

Steven's PovI slowly opened my eyes, feeling drained and unenthusiastic. The buzzing sound of my phone was annoying, and it had pulled me out of a deep sleep. The remnants of last night's exhaustion still lingered in my body, making me groaned tiredly. The first thing I saw as I opened my eyes was her beautiful face, up close to mine. Her dishevelled hair covered part of her stunning face. As I gazed at her, my mind went numb, and I couldn't resist the urge to gently tuck a stray lock behind her ear. She was gorgeous, beautiful...“And sweet." I whispered, as memories of our passionate night together flooded my mind. My phone continued to buzz, snapping me back to reality. Then I reached out to it and hesitantly answered the call without checking the ID.“Do you think you can deceive me with a lie like that? When did you find someone you want to marry without my knowledge." My grandfather's voice boomed through the phone, causing me to quickly push it away from my ear for a

Steven's Pov I couldn't understand how someone could be so soft-hearted. Or was she that dense and naive? I couldn't help the feeling of anger that was burning through me. I didn't know why I felt that way, I had tried to reason with her that going back to see her would only lead to more pain. Yet she was so adamant in talking to her, giving herself a false hope.Taking something precious from the one you love shouldn't be a mistake, no, it wasn't a mistake. Even if that person said so. I knew this all too well, I had gone through the same thing, or should I say I was going through the same thing. My cousin, Peter, and his parents were waging war with me, trying to find any means or opportunity to remove me as the CEO of the company, and install Peter, in my place.Peter and I had practically grown up together within grandfather's residence, we were friends as we grew up together. But everything changed after college, his behaviors and actions towards me changed completely; act

Steven's Pov Desperation clawed at my chest as I thought about losing my position as CEO. I couldn't lose what I worked hard to get. I had tried everything I could to prove my worth to my grandfather before he announced me as the CEO. And losing that position because of some freaking reason shouldn't be. I couldn't bear the thought of losing my position, because it was what I had dedicated my life to. So I must give it all my all to save it. I needed to remain in my position to gain the company later, it was all I had lived for, nothing else.I pulled up in front of the The Golden Suite, where I thought she might be. I needed to see her, to ensure we were still on the same page. There was no way the fear in me would dissolve if I didn't set my eyes on her and confirm.I wondered what was going on at the moment. If she had seen her sister and confirmed that I was right, or proved that I was wrong. However, I was confident that there was no way I was wrong because I knew what her
