Chapter 111Caius’s POVThe library was quiet, the only sound was the slow rustle of paper as I flipped through the pages of a book I wasn’t really reading. The door creaked open.“My Alpha.” One of my men entered, bowing his head. He placed an envelope carefully on the table. “Darius sent a message.”The name was enough to make my eyes narrow. The last time we met, he left with one less eye. Yet he never stopped coming back.I broke the seal and slid out the contents. A single photograph of Selene. Her face stared up at me, innocent, vulnerable. My jaw clenched.I flipped the photo. Four words scrawled on the back. Pretty, isn’t she?My fist tightened around the picture, the edges crumpling. A growl threatened to tear from my throat. Darius had made his intentions clear.I rose sharply, storming out of the library. I pulled up Selene’s location on my phone, relief flooding me when the signal lit. Grabbing my coat, I drove through the night with a speed that barely kept the car on the

Chapter 113Selene’s POV“A party? All of a sudden?”I sat in Director Caius’s large sitting room, staring at him in disbelief. He had just told me we were both attending a party. What was I supposed to be here, his girlfriend?“I detest things like this,” he said flatly, “but I have to be there.”“Then go with someone else.”“I’d rather decline the invitation than go with someone else.” His reply was sharp, sincere, and, somewhere deep inside me, it made me feel… special.“I dislike the sight of human females. Always clingy and hard to please. Unlike you, who doesn’t expect anything.”Yeah, right. What was I supposed to expect from a werewolf anyway? And yet, the thought tangled in me more than I liked. Can't believe I thought of myself as special before him.“If you truly don’t feel like going, we can stay.”“Let’s go,” I said quickly. But the incident at the office with Chris still clung to my brain. Why did Chris do that? Could it be that he felt the same way I did? My fingers br

Chapter 115Caius’ POVI returned to the table, but Selene was gone. Her purse and phone were still there.I picked them up, my brows furrowing. Where would she go without her things? That wasn’t like her.A sudden, sharp dread struck my chest. Something was wrong.I asked the receptionist if they had seen a young woman matching her description, but they shook their heads. “No one like that has come through today.”Panic crawled beneath my skin. I searched the restrooms, then immediately called for backup from my Beta.“Seen her?” I asked.“No, Alpha.”Shit.My pulse thundered. Had this been Darius’ plan? To lure me away with those men just so he could take her?I swore to the Moon Goddess, I would not spare him when I found him.I stalked down the hallway away from the event hall and stopped when I spotted something glinting on the floor, Selene’s earring. The same one she’d been wearing earlier.I bent, picking it up, my teeth clenched.I tried following her scent, but it was faint,

Chapter 117Selene’s POVThe sun kissed my face, dragging me out of sleep. I groaned and turned to the other side of the bed.The sheets felt soft, far softer than mine, and the scent clung to me strangely.Huh…“This is not…” My eyes fluttered open immediately, and I sat up straight, staring around in disbelief. This wasn’t my room.I rubbed my eyes again and again, praying it was just a dream, but it wasn’t. The truth slammed into me like a punch in the chest.I was in a hotel.Ah. I remember now. I came here with Director Caius for a party, and then…… Why don't I remember what happened after that?I stood up and realization hit me, I was naked under the duvet.A strangled scream rose in my throat, but I slapped a hand over my mouth to keep it down. My pulse thundered. I didn’t know who had brought me here, but the faint sound of water running in the bathroom made my blood run cold.Whoever it was… they were still here.I tried to piece last night together, but my memory was scatter

Chapter 120Selene’s POVMy mind wouldn’t stop drifting back to Director Caius, that moment when I saw him shirtless.I shook my head hard, trying to shake away the memory. But the image lingered, haunting me. I folded my clothes with a sigh, not realizing Grandma was standing behind me, watching.“Are you sure you didn’t do more than just take care of him?” she asked, stepping forward. “You’ve been sighing like a confused girl, so lost in thought you didn’t even notice me enter.”I sat down on the bed, still holding the half-folded shirt in my hands.“Tell me, little wolf, what’s the matter? I hope you didn’t screw up the apology.”I shook my head quickly. “It’s nothing serious, Grandma. I just… I can’t tell if he’s still annoyed with me.” I gave her a worried look.No way was I telling her that Director Caius’s half-naked body had been replaying in my head nonstop, like it was stalking me.“What was his response after you apologized?”I hesitated. “Uh… he asked me to go on a date…”
