Selene's POVSo soft.I twirled to a comfortable position and hummed in satisfaction. He smelt warm, the kind of scent that made you want to lean in without meaning to. My eyelids opened slowly, and I almost screamed at the sight before me.Dark was looking straight at me, and my head was resting on his chest. I blinked profusely—perhaps it was just a bad dream.“You seemed to have had a nice sleep,” he grinned.Embarrassment hit me hard. It definitely was reality and not a dream. My head was fucking resting on Dark's chest.I felt like the ground should split open in two and swallow me whole.Quickly, I arranged my hair and fake mustache. I hoped I didn't snore and neither did he figure out anything.“You seem to enjoy sleeping on a man, Sal.”I shook my head in response and stood up, bowing halfway. “I am sorry for any inconveniences caused. I must've fallen asleep after the stress last night.”I had no idea if the last part was necessary, but Dark had actually stressed me. I could

Selene's POV The mate selection, such an interesting time of the year as I've heard the men talk about.Dark's men were more like soldiers; they trained and fought, having little time for women. Then, his mother brought up the suggestion of inviting every maiden around for a grand bouquet once a year. It worked, and most of Dark’s men found their mates in this bouquet. But for Dark, it was different. He never found a mate.I sat before Dara and Silas. Riven had gone to see Dark after he was called. Luckily, I arrived just in time—right when Jaxon was about to pass a sentence on the three of them. Jaxon was about to have me caught, and just then, Dark walked in and saved me.Throughout the night, I explained to Dara, Silas, and Riven that nothing had transpired between Dark and me. I couldn’t tell them about Dark’s strange behavior. I only said he got injured, and curiosity had led me to follow him. The story was hard to piece together, especially with the questions they threw at me,

BLUE MOON PACKAlpha Killian's POV“Come in.”Beta Nightfury walked in with a bow.I sat in front of the desk in my office with Caleb standing behind me.Nightfury glanced at him briefly before turning to me.“Alpha Killian, you were right. Those men you encountered were from Dark's territory.”My eyes stayed glued to the paper in my left hand while I tapped my finger on the table.I squeezed the paper and stood up, walking over to Beta Nightfury.“Why would Dark concern himself with other packs?”“My suspicions are perhaps the eastern packs pleaded for help from him,” Nightfury said.I shook my head and turned my back to him. “I doubt that. The eastern packs are too weak and scared to stand before Dark.” I paused, deep in thought for a moment. “But they definitely had help from Dark, so how was that possible?” I turned and slammed my fist against the table, making Caleb jerk in fear.“Alpha Killian,” a calm voice called from behind, and I turned to see Lilliana standing there with a

Selene POV“How dare you touch me, you filthy being,” she half-yelled.I glanced at the maid to leave.“You must be the chosen mate for Dark. Apologies for not introducing myself. I am Sal, a personal assistant to Dark,” I introduced.“Sal?” she called. “So you are the Sal.”“Excuse me, ma’am, but this our first time meeting.” I looked at her, confused.“How were you able to defeat him?" she muttered in a low tone. "I always knew that man was a weakling,” she rolled her eyes.“I heard of one Sal who helped one of the Eastern Packs during the attack with Blue Moon. So what they said was true, but you look small for a man with such honours.”I grinned. “You don’t judge a book by its cover.”She scoffed. “Nice. But I’ll soon be the lady of this territory.” She shrugged with that arrogant look. “We would have to be in good terms from now on. Besides, you’ll be answering to me too.” She flaunted her fingers right in my face, showing a white, shining emerald ring.“I got this from Lady Hava

Selene POVThe clouds turned dark and rumbled—it was going to rain.Dark had given me a map, and we were to set out the next day at dawn. While returning to the room, Hayley appeared out of nowhere with an arrogant look on her face. She held some grapes, tossing each one into her mouth nonchalantly. Her eyes dropped to the scroll in my hand. I tried to walk past her, but she blocked my path.“I just want to have a word,” she said, then pointed at the scroll. “Can I see that?”“It’s confidential,” I replied. “If you’ll excuse me, I have other things to do.”She grabbed my arm just as I was passing her and leaned in to whisper in my ear. I looked up at her, eyes widening, while she waved and walked away with a smug smile. I stood frozen for a breath— stared after her until she disappeared, then grinned inwardly, pulling out the real scroll. Hayley had whispered that she knew of Dark’s plan to get an item—and in that moment, she stole the scroll.Like a fool, I let her take it. But the o
