Asher’s POVThe look on Aurora's face was horror filled but she couldn't find her tongue to speak. I have done everything I could think of to make her believe I genuinely loved her but she still believed it was all a sham.I shouldn't have told the council I would be giving them her head, I bet this was why things were getting even more complicated.Pushing my hands into my pockets, I made my way towards the window, seething with anger. Her accusatory voice kept ringing in my head. I was already losing it but somehow, I was able to hold myself back. “You…” She tried to speak but before she could complete what she intended to say, I snapped my head, “I’ve always wanted to get rid of you.” I huffed.Pressing her lips into a thin line, I watched as something flickered in her eyes. Maybe anger, surprise or shock. She provoked me first so I decided to return the favor. I wanted to make her act irrationally and see how far she could go with the act. But now, seeing the way she had reac

Reader's POVLeft with no choice Leon returned home to relay Asher’s message to Alpha Simone who was itching to hear a positive result. Knowing fully well the kind of man Asher was, Alpha Simone had been all over the place waiting anxiously for Leon’s return. And when he eventually did, he hurriedly made his way to his side, an expectant look stamped on his face. “What did he say?" He gulped, his eyes all over the place. Leon hesitated. He wished he wasn't the one breaking the news to Alpha Simone. It made him feel like a failure and more importantly, he was scared of the aftermath of his revelation. Parting his lips to speak, the door creaked open and Emma walked in with Scarlet. They also had been waiting for Leon’s report anxiously so immediately they heard he had returned, they rushed to Alpha Simone's study. “How did it go?" Emma asked, alternating her gaze between Leon and Alpha Simone who was now a shell of himself. Leon's silence and hesitation could mean only one thing

Asher’s POVThe sound of crackling fire in the fireplace of my study was the only sound that could be heard. Seated behind my table, I was poring over files and documents that were scattered round about, all in a bid to forget about Palmer’s request but it was to no avail. He was going to save Aurora if only I gave him a seat in the council but it was too dangerous. Palmer wasn't someone to operate in the council, he was a crook and in no time, he would show his real colors. He was bold enough to tell me he wanted a seat in the council in exchange for Aurora's life.It could only mean one thing; he has an ulterior motive and to get his hand on it, he had to be a member of the council.Falling back on my seat, I let out a low sigh and as if on a cue, the door creaked open and Silva stepped in. “Postpone the meeting, I can't face anyone today." I mumbled, rubbing my forehead. “Alpha Simone is here.” He announced and immediately, I sat up.For a moment, I thought I had misheard him b

Reader’s POVWith a deep frown etched on her face, Miller was making her way towards Palmer’s office. When she learnt that he wasn't making any move to send Aurora away like he had promised her the last time they met, she erupted in anger. Palmer had gotten the message she sent for meeting during lunch so he was on his way to meet her when they crossed paths. Without a word, she grabbed his hand, pulling him back into his office and slamming his door shut while he looked on. Cocking his brow, he asked, “What is all this about?" “You were supposed to send her away.” She snarled, her fists clenched and eyes reddened in anger.“We agreed, Palmer. We agreed that this was the perfect time to get rid of her and while you take over her position, I will take my place next to Asher.” Palmer tossed his head to the side, a low wince escaping from his lips."You wanted to have lunch with me. Tell me, what were you planning to tell me then?” When she wouldn't answer, he snapped his fingers,

Aurora’s POVShifting from one foot to the other, I was uneasy. Palmer was still staring, the smirk on his lips getting even more wide but he said nothing. Spreading his hands apart and with a shrug, he said, “You see, I’m loyal." Scrunching his brows and waving his hands in my face, he added, “I don't go back on my words, huh." Rolling my eyes at him, I huffed.“What am I going to give to you in return?" I asked, crossing my hands on my chest with my gaze fixated on him.“I don't need anything for now." He mouthed. “When the time is right, I will make my request and I hope you won't ignore me when I do." Without a word to him, I turned on my heels and then began to head towards the door. I was about to slam the door shut when Miller stepped out, flashing a smile at me which I returned. "Hey,” I didn't respond as I led the way down the hallway. Somehow, there was no officer or anyone in the vicinity to boo me so I took my time making the walk from Palmer’s office back to the Pa
