Reader’s POVMorning came too quickly for Aurora who had barely had a good sleep in several days. Gritting her teeth, she turned around only to use her pillow to shield her eyes from the morning sun that was filtering into her room.“Ugh." She groaned, throwing her feet off the bed only to fall back on it with a thud, a bright smile dancing on the side of her lips. Tilting her head to the side, she couldn't help but imagine the look on the faces of everyone that had once accused her of treason. Covering her face with both hands, she couldn't help but to laugh out aloud in delight. She was finally going to clear her name and so she was supper excited about the prospect. This time, she sat up without falling on her back and with a light heart, she went ahead to get ready for the trial. “The journal." She mouthed, pushing her hand forward only to grasp air. At first, she didn't think much about it but when she repeated her actions three more times and got the same result, a frown q

Reader’s POVInstead of driving the dagger into her chest like they had all anticipated, Asher placed his hand on her chest and then drove the dagger in and immediately, blood began to spurt.“What are you doing?" Aurora asked, her eyes almost popping from their sockets. “Were you thinking I was going to kill you?" He hissed through pain as Aurora got thoroughly soaked with his blood that kept seeping from his wound. While all this was going on, the council hall was thick with silence. They were all staring and waiting in anticipation of what was going to happen next. “You see what I'm talking about?" Moore said on the top of his voice, breaking the silence. There is not even an atom of remorse in her eyes.” He huffed."She is as defiant as ever, she thinks she is going to get out of this mess easily?” Another official snarled. They were all glaring at Asher and Aurora, each and everyone itching to say something. “She’s dangerous.” Moore spat, his voice laced with venom as he charg

Aurora’s POVIf I had known, I should have given the journal to Asher last night? I shouldn't have insisted on holding onto it to read up every single detail. The journal should have been safer with him but I went way too ahead of myself. I thought I had won fair and square. But how?How did the journal I had kept in my drawer disappear into the thin air without a trace? I wasn't a deep sleeper so if someone has stepped into my room, I should have known right away. It has to be an expert. — I thought, wrapping my hands around myself in fright. At this point with my life hanging on a thin thread which was already sagging, the first thought that came to mind was to run off. Miller had promised to help me when it all began, she was going to keep to her promise this time. And so with this thought ringing in my head, I turned to her for assistance which she did without batting an eyelid. But lady luck was not on our side.I should have joined her in fighting off the guards but they w

Asher’s POVWith my hand resting on Aurora's neck, I exhaled deeply, the tightness of my chest loosening. Thanks to Alpha Simone's timely intervention, otherwise things were about to spiral completely out of control. My intention was to make them lose focus for a while before lunging towards Moore, the scapegoat Palmer had presented.Without the journal, the Council members were going to accuse me of trying to save Aurora, otherwise, I would have ended this a long time ago.Tightening my grip around her neck, I leaned in, “Cheer up, everything is fine now." I muttered while she exhaled deeply in response.Pointing at Freya, one of the palace maids, Silva snarled, “You just lost your chance of redeeming yourself.” He said. In fright, she tried to bolt off but the hall had been sealed off completely, no one came in and no one stepped out. While everyone watched, two guards pulled Freya towards me, making her fall on her knees. “I did as I was told." She cried, rubbing her hands vigo

Aurora’s POVPlacing my back against the wall for support, I watched the proceedings in the hall, trying to hold back from passing out. At first, I thought Moore was the one who had sent Freya to steal the journal from my room but he refuted it.And to back up his claim, he said there was someone else, who could that be? The thought made cold beads of sweat break out on my forehead as my heartbeat doubled.Just when I thought it was all over, an unknown enemy was lurking around.Moore urging Asher to make enquiries from Palmer made me raise my head and before I could comprehend what was happening, Asher had slammed Moore’s heart on the table.“What?" I gasped, my heart lurching against my chest as cold chills ran through my spine. No one dared to breathe. The council hall was dead silent like a graveyard.Still staring at the red organ on the table, I grabbed my chest, digging my teeth into my lips. That could have been me.My knees doubled as the realization hit me. Had it been

Reader's POVAlpha Simone returned to his pack lighthearted. He was glad that he was able to save Aurora from being killed unjustly and most importantly, he was grateful that she was no longer in his pack. All his act of hostility towards her while she was still living in his pack was a facade to protect her from Emma and Scarlet. If he had treated her the way he wanted, they might have killed her for steering his attention to herself. Now in his study with Leon, Alpha Simone was sipping from his glass of wine as an act of solo celebration while Leon fed him in with what had happened when he was away.Just when he was about to speak, the door flung open and Emma stormed in, followed by Scarlet who was also fuming in anger like her mother.News was all over the place of how he went to the Lycan Kingdom to save Aurora and they had heard about it too; that explains their countenance. Leon didn't wait to be told before he did a curt bow and with his hands by his side, he stepped out of

Aurora’s POVFinally, it was all over. The accusation, trial and reconciliation with my father has taken a huge toll on me and I would definitely be needing a long time to heal. Groping my way towards the window, I had my hands crossed on my chest, thinking of nothing in particular but what the future held for me. I was certain Asher wouldn't allow me to return to the faction, now what next? My father's departing words and the presence of the mysterious man. — These were just the tip of the iceberg of my worry. Tilting my head to the side with my hands still wrapped across my chest, I let out a low sigh. “Are you alright, Doe?" The unmistakable voice of Asher made me swirl around, connecting my head to his chest instantly. “Hey." I gulped, my heart racing. I had no idea when he walked through the door or even when he halted right behind me. I found myself hitting my palm against my chest just as my heart pounded furiously against it.“Why do you keep walking in like a ghost?"

Asher's POVAs much as I wanted to spend the night with Aurora, I couldn't ignore the presence of the old Beta in my study.Silva had informed me of his presence via the mindlink so I had no choice but to rush down immediately. When I arrived, it turned out that he came with his daughter, Miller and apart from the little side talks they were having the study was quiet, like I always wanted it.“I'm here." I said, informing them of my presence.“I know, son." He replied, casting me a glance before nodding at my table. “You should get some rest and then we can talk about it." I wanted to argue, but on second thought,I decided to act in accordance with his words. In that way, I might be able to get a hang of where our conversation would be leading to.Reclining on the swivel chair, I swirled around gently and at intervals, I cast Miller a quiet glance. I had held this to myself for a long while now. It was about Miller’s closeness with Aurora. When she came in at first, Miller fought

Aurora's POVThe more I tried to suppress the urge to apologize to Asher for acting the way I did, the more the urge became stronger. Unable to hold back anymore, I had no choice but to meet with him with his study. Yanking the door open, the first thing my eyes fell on was a piece of paper lying a few meters from my feet.Curious, I crouched and then picked it up to read the content. Meet me at midnight. It’s for your own good. — That was the content of the note.Brief and cryptic. There was no signature, and the writing was unfamiliar so I couldn't place it. At this point I was torn between the decision of finding out what the person had for me and going to meet with Asher. Taking a deep breath, I pushed my hand into my hair, doing a quick scan of my environment. There was no one in sight so it would be easy peasy to slip out and back without anyone noticing. Just when I was about to disappear down the corridor, the sound of muffled voices rented the air which was followed by

Aurora's POVWith his hands now wrapped around my waist, he pulled me to himself so that his warm breath was fanning my tensed face. “Let's stay together tonight." He cooed, his nose brushing against mine while I held my breath. Unable to bear the close proximity between us anymore, I pulled away from him, flashing him a coy smile. “You had a long day, you should get some rest now." I led him towards his bed and the moment I turned to leave, he was already right in front of me. “Just tonight, okay." He mumbled. Taking a deep breath, I had no choice but to consent. That night, sleep eluded me completely as my mind was preoccupied with the conversation I was supposed to be having.Staring at the note which lay lazily on the table, I played and replayed the words in my head. “Meet me at midnight. It’s for your own good.” But midnight had come and gone but I couldn't meet with the sender. Instead, I was lying in Asher's room under his protective gaze. Lying next to him, he had hi
