EMILY’S POV It had been two days since the wedding. Dante had said he would be back the next day, but he didn’t come back. I stayed alone in the villa, doing little, saying little. Vito checked in sometimes, asking if I needed anything, but mostly, it was just silence. I sat by the window as the warm rays of the setting sun hit me, watching the waves roll lazily against the rocks below the villa. The air was warm, the kind that made you sleepy.
