(ANNALISE’S POV)I gulped nervously my throat drying up rapidly. Hard as I tried to answer the teacher who’d begun approaching my desk, I just couldn’t get my tongue to work.While I was still thinking, I heard the sound of an object hit the floor by foot. A pen—Landon’s pen. He nodded at me reassuringly and turned to face the approaching teacher. “She was saying that I’d dropped my pen, sir,” Landon offered. “What?” the teacher frowned in a mix of confusion and disbelief. “I dropped my pen and she pointed it out to me. That’s what hat happened, isn’t it, Annalise?” Landon asked, rising from his seat to pick the pen. “Umm.. yeah. That’s what I was trying to say,” I stuttered nervously.
