(ANNALISE’S POV)

Landon flashed me his widest grin yet, his lips stretching as wide as a halved saucer.

“What are you..?” I began asking. But he put a finger against his lips and gestured for me to let him in.

I looked over my shoulder in a moment of contemplation and rolled my eyes before lifting the window open.

I stepped out of the way as he floated into the room with practiced ease. How many windows had he climbed through in the past?

For a weirdly inexplicable reason, I found myself jealous that he’d been climbing down other windows other than mine.

“Hey, gorgeous,” he smiled, his eyes doing very little yet pinning me to the spot. “Miss me?” he smirked, his voice low and deeper than usual.

I rolled my eyes and turned around. “You shouldn’t be here, you know? My mum’s in the house.” I paused. “Thank you.”

Landon strode over to me and took both my hands, kissing the insides of my palms while he pinned my eye with his. “Anything for you, princess.”

    LANDON’S POVI couldn’t concentrate the whole time. I stole occasional glances at Annalise who seemed to be oblivious to the turmoil she’d flung me into by walking away from me earlier. I was going to take over after my father and so it came with a pressure to always live by his books. But I’d been on a rebellious streak lately, at least for as long as we’d been away from home.     (ANNALISE’S POV)I gulped nervously my throat drying up rapidly. Hard as I tried to answer the teacher who’d begun approaching my desk, I just couldn’t get my tongue to work.While I was still thinking, I heard the sound of an object hit the floor by foot. He nodded at me reassuringly and turned to face the approaching teacher. “She was saying that I’d dropped my pen, sir,” Landon offered. “What?” the teacher frowned in a mix of confusion and disbelief. “I dropped my pen and she pointed it out to me.
