I Died on My Mate's Marking Ceremony のすべてのチャプター: チャプター 1 - チャプター 9

After I hung up the phone, Ethan immediately said,"I'm coming with you."I instinctively wanted to refuse, but before I could speak, Ethan added,"I won't tell Damien anything. I just don't want you going alone."I stopped protesting and nodded in agreement.Damien wasn't waiting alone at the Pack Council entrance. Sarah stood beside him.She looked the same as she had years ago, willowy and delicate as she leaned into Damien's arm. Today she seemed particularly happy, her face wearing an undisguised smile.Seeing Ethan and me arrive together, Damien looked surprised."Ethan? Why are you here?"Ethan's face remained expressionless."Damien, are you absolutely certain you want to break your mate bond with Emily?"Damien gave me a cold smile. "Emily, did you bring Ethan here to plead your case?"Before I could respond, Ethan answered first: "Emily didn't ask me to come. I came on my own.""Damien, I'm urging you to think carefully. Emily loves you—more than even your parents do. You mus

Damien froze, then frowned. "Emily's funeral? Ethan, what are you talking about?""I get it now. Did Emily put you up to this? Where is she? Tell her to come here. Does she think ruining my ceremony is amusing?"Damien grew increasingly angry with each word.Ethan shook his head. "She can't come.""What do you mean she can't come? I'm calling her right now."Damien pulled out his phone.Sarah walked over."Damien, what's happening?"She glanced at Ethan with a frown."Isn't he your best friend? Why is he dressed like this for our marking ceremony?"Damien gave her an apologetic look."I'm sorry, he's just trying to play a joke on me. It's gone too far, and I've already scolded him."Sarah snorted."There's a time and place for jokes. Since you've already spoken to him, I won't say anything more.""The ceremony is about to begin. I'll head over first.""Alright."Damien watched Sarah leave, then turned to face Ethan."I don't know what Emily is planning, but you can tell her that whatev

Sarah shot Ethan a venomous glare before turning to follow Damien. Finally, it was over.I watched Damien's retreating figure. We would never meet again. My parents approached Ethan."Thank goodness you were here, or Emily wouldn't have had a peaceful passing today."Ethan's smile was strained."It was the least I could do."After my funeral ended, my parents specifically asked Ethan to stay behind."Ethan, with Emily gone, we no longer have the heart to manage pack affairs. We'd like to entrust the pack to your leadership."Ethan was startled and quickly refused."I can't do it. I am not a member of your pack. "My father smiled gently."You were Emily's best friend, and you're incredibly strong. Emily trusted you, so we trust you too.""Besides, managing the pack doesn't mean you have to handle everything personally. You just need to set the overall direction. I believe you won't disappoint us, or Emily."Ethan looked at my headstone and gritted his teeth."Alright, I accept."I comp

Damien's voice boomed with Alpha authority as he grabbed Sarah's arm mid-swing. The command vibrated through the air, heavy with power."You're at a gravesite," he hissed at her. "Show some respect."Sarah flinched at his tone but didn't lower her gaze in submission.Damien turned to Ethan, his voice softening slightly. "Ethan, I didn't come here to fight with you. I must take Emily's ashes." His expression held a hint of pleading. "We were mates for years. I want to find a proper temple to honor her as compensation for all the good she did for me over the years."His words rang hollow to me. Too little, too late."That won't be necessary," Ethan said coldly, crossing his arms over his chest. His stance was protective, positioning himself between my grave and Damien."Damien, for the sake of our brotherhood, take Sarah and leave immediately, or I'll notify the Pack Council." His voice hardened further. "This is desecration of a sacred site. You know the laws."He stepped closer, loweri
