Ridge’s Pov The moon hung heavy above us and it was full over the clearing where the ceremony was set to take place. Lanterns lined the path from the pack house to the heart of the woods, their golden light flickering like fireflies, and they were soft against the cool night. The scent of pine and moss hung in the air, mingling with something warmer; sandalwood, lavender, wildflowers crushed underfoot. Then there was her scent, Blake’s. It was so strong hers overshadowed them all. I stood near the edge of the gathering, dressed in the ceremonial blacks my father once wore, the fabric tailored to my frame now, though it still felt too tight. Not on my body, but in my chest, just as if it was holding something in, something enormous. My hands were clenched behind my back, my posture straight, my wolf pacing just beneath the surface.
