ASTRID'S POV“There's no need for this much” Amelia rolled her eyes discreetly at me as she helped tie my hair up in a bun.Looking at myself in the broken vanity mirror, I couldn't help but fidget with my hands in my lap. “You don't get it” I whispered.I didn't expect her to. I was getting mated to the Alpha today after all and she didn't know that ㅡ No one knew thatㅡ but today, he was going to take me as his Luna and my life would change. From the omega that everyone walked on to the Luna whom everyone respected. The very thought made my sense tingle with excitement.Amelia muttered something incomprehensible, her hands working fast to fasten the lace at the back of my dress. “You're just going to embarrass yourself, Astrid. No one wants to see you in a dress at the mating ceremony. Alpha Ren certainly wouldn't appreciate someone… like you to go this far”Someone like meㅡ someone as useless as I was deemed to beㅡ that was the right way to put it and honestly? I couldn't bring mysel

ASTRID’S POVA low growl echoed behind me, and the sound of twigs snapping made my heart jump into my throat. They were here and they were closer than ever.Judging by the amount of steps, it wasn't just one… I paused… those were human steps… not a werewolfs’.I squeezed my eyes shut, whispering, “Please, please…” over and over, my hand clutched around my locket like it could protect me.Then a strong hand yanked me up and I screamed at the force at which I was pulled to my feet.A large palm immediately clamped over my mouth.“Damn it! shut up!” a low, gravelly voice hissed near my ear.I froze, my eyes flying open, and I found myself staring into the bluest pair of eyes I’d ever seen. They were sharp. Cold. Watching me like I was a prey and he was the predator while his calloused hands easily shut me up.Who was this? Whoever he was, he had a dangerous air around him and I needed to get the hell away from him.He towered over me, his face only inches from mine. His jaw was sharp, hi

ASTRID'S POVThe encounter was frightening enough and my legs were wobbling by the time I made it back into the room that was assigned to me in their quarters. The Lycan brothers room was just a few hallways away from mine and I was given a room of my own. There was a sudden knock on the door and I jerked slightly, my palms sweaty as I opened the door to see a maid standing there with a bunch of clothes in her hands as well as a scowl on her face. She clearly didn't appreciate waiting on me but there was a small sense of triumph in me at the way the tables had been flipped.“Here's your clothes” She forced a smile at me, handing the clothes to me.“Thanks” i muttered, collecting them from her.She didn't leave immediately, she looked me over with a disgusted look on her face. “You don't belong here” She spat.My heart deflated at her words but before I could open my mouth to speak, I heard a voice from outside. “I don't think that's your place to note”The maid paled, bowed and scurri

LUCAS'S POVTurns out she wasn't good at fighting evidently judging from the hurried panting as she wheezed, the sword I had given her clutched tightly in one hand while she held her chest.“Stop” She panted, doubling over on the sparring ground.I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Why did I have to end up with someone who had no clue about anything.“Astrid” I called out and she raised her head up slightly to stare at me.“Seriously?” I raised a brow. “We've been at it for just 20 minutes. I have a meeting in an hour and you're supposed to be there, you know?” I reminded her.Silence followed and she struggled to straighten up, her hair messy in a messy bun with strands sticking to her sweaty face. “Absolutely not. I prefer it here”Gosh, she was stubborn and I didn't know if I should be impressed or annoyed but I was betting on the latter. “You suck at both” I didn't sugarcoat it for her.Her bottom lip wobbled and I could tell my words were harsh but I was never the type to sugar

ASTRID'S POV The group was silent, a brooding tense atmosphere settling over us and Landon turned around to look at me again, his brows furrowing when he noticed the look on my face.“Whoa… are you okay?” He didn't seem fazed by the death of the guard from silver hollow, he took a step towards me instead.“I… we have to go” I announced, my voice desperate but he held my shoulder, his grip tight and preventing me from moving further away.“What's wrong?” He demanded.I noticed how the others placed their hands over their chest, their fingers grazing the crest over their armour as they gave their fallen comrade a proper send-off.Turning back to Landon who was staring at me, his eyes flickering over me to make sure I was fine and for a moment, I felt overwhelmed by the grey and hazel eyes orbs looking me over. “Astrid!” The sound of his voice calling my name snapped me back to reality and I jerked slightly in his hold.“We have to go. We've seen enough” I broke free from his hold effor
