”Henry.” Anaya called as soon as she stepped into the house. She had rushed here as soon as she got the urgent text from Henry. Anaya stared at her laptop, unable to comprehend the words in the document even though she could see them very clearly. She shut the device and laid on her back, her eyes staring up the ceiling with numbness.After the entire ordeal she faced yesterday at Hana’s birthday party, Henry advised her to work at home for a few days until she felt like herself again. And Anaya thought he had a point.She was still unable to get a bearing on her surroundings or what she needed to do with Maia. If she were to be honest, she felt like she had been drugged and last night was simply nothing but a figment of her imagination.One minute, she was laughing and joking with Maia and the next, her secretary was accused of attempting to murder her. A few days passed without any news about Maia from the police. Anaya resumed work fully and engrossed herself in the piled up files and approvals in order to sort her thoughts out.Tonight, a party was being held at Henry’s family’s house to celebrate his newly closed deal of a whooping one billion dollars. Henry gently held Ryle’s tiny hand in his, not wanting to squeeze too hard. Ryle had finally gone to sleep after the doctors had done all the necessary checkups. Ryle was out of danger but he would be in the hospital for two days to ensure there were no side effects. Henry sighed, his eyes focused on the rhythmic rise and fall of his son’s chest. Tonight had been horrifying for him, even more than the day Lauren died.He had been chatting with his friends when Hana’s scream alerted them of Ryle in the pool. He pushed past everyone and jumped into the pool without a single second of hesitation.Ryle’s body had been floating and he was already unconscious.
