“Oh my God, Anaya!” Hana opened her arms widely before embracing Anaya so tight she thought she was trying to choke her. “So nice to see you here. Thank you for bringing her here, Hen.” She smiled at her brother.

“Happy birthday, Hana.” Anaya forced a smile on her face as she pulled away from her overenthusiastic sister-in-law. “Nice party.” Anaya said as she glanced at the rooftop party which was already in full swing.

When Henry informed Anaya about Hana’s birthday party, her first response was to refuse the invitation but she thought against it after she was the one who had implored Margeret and Hana that they be civil with one another for the sake of the family.

The rooftop party was a dazzling, Instagram-perfect ambience with the string lights sparkling like stars above. Hana was dressed in an emerald green dress which stopped by her calves, her red hair in a high ponytail with curled ends.

“Happy birthday, Auntie!” Ryle hugged Hana’s thighs before handing her the card he made f

  • You Want Me Back, Don't You?   Hiding Her Pain In The Darkness

Anaya got back home and shut the door behind her. She rested her head on the door, breathing in for air to fill her lungs. The lights were turned off in the house and for once, she embraced the darkness, wanting to do nothing but just tune the world out.Her most highest fear had come true right in front of her eyes today. Daisy had been the one sending those threats or she had been part of it. The one person she loved with all her heart and the one friend who had been like family to her.“Anaya?” She perked up when she heard her name being called in the dark. Heavy footsteps drew closer and she wiped the tears on her face to hide her inner turmoil.Henry turned on the lights and she looked up at him. He was dressed in a grey suit, holding a file in his hand and he still looked tired but much better than this morning. His eyes narrowed at her and she turned her face away, taking off her shoes to conceal her red-rimmed eyes. “Are you okay?”“Of course, I am. Work was just…hard today.”

  • You Want Me Back, Don't You?   Dinner And Revelations

“Would you like anything else to drink, ma’am?” the waitress asked and Anaya shook her head. She pressed the glass frame to the bridge of her nose as she scanned the restaurant for the culprits. The time for their reservation was in five minutes and they still hadn't arrived. After everything Maia had told and shown her, Anaya knew she had to confirm if Daisy was indeed the one behind all the attacks. Maia’s innocence didn’t equate to Daisy’s culpability and the only way to find out was to know the reason Daisy was seeing Thomas behind her back.At the entrance of the restaurant, a couple walked in cheerfully in each other’s arms as they confirmed their seat with the waiter. They walked past her to sit on the table behind her and at once, their conversation flooded her ears through the earpiece she was wearing. Anaya had prepared everything beforehand. Disguising herself, she wore a red wig with thick black glasses and heavy makeup to completely change her look. She had bribed one

  • You Want Me Back, Don't You?   Meeting With the Alleged Culprit

Anaya parked her car by the supermarket, her sweaty hands tight against the steering wheel. She looked outside to see the parking lot filled with families pulling their carts of groceries to their cars.h At the entrance of the building, there were two security guards stationed there. If anything were to go wrong today, she was banking on them to help her out.I’m here. She received a message from the same number that texted her an hour ago. Maia had begged for Anaya to meet up with her because allegedly, she has a ‘crucial’ news to pass through. And it wasn’t safe to say it over the phone.Anaya had agreed to meet with Maia but under one condition; it had to be in a crowded area with too many witnesses in case anything happened to her. The supermarket was her best choice and Maia agreed without further questions. It was crazy for Anaya to agree to meet with the person who had been accused of wanting to kill her. And it was even crazier that she didn’t tell anyone about her whereabout

  • You Want Me Back, Don't You?   Hospital Visits and A Text

Anaya stood outside the hospital room, clasping her fingers together with hesitation. She couldn’t see Ryle yesterday because Henry was with him and she didn’t want to bump into him because of the guilt eating her up.She had to reluctantly leave last night after Margeret stepped out of the room to tell her that Ryle was asleep. This morning, she had driven to the hospital as soon as she woke up because she was eager to see Ryle. She could hardly even sleep last night as she kept replaying the horrific event that took place in Margeret’s house. Henry hadn’t come back home during the night which meant he was still in the room. She didn’t know when he was going to leave but she was going to wait until he was out.Just as she turned around to head back to the waiting room, the door opened up behind her and she saw Henry walking out of the room. His grey eyes met hers and she gulped nervously. He looked rough with his messy hair and red-rimmed eyes. She could easily tell he hadn’t slept

  • You Want Me Back, Don't You?   Flashback With An Undying Ache

Henry gently held Ryle’s tiny hand in his, not wanting to squeeze too hard. Ryle had finally gone to sleep after the doctors had done all the necessary checkups. Ryle was out of danger but he would be in the hospital for two days to ensure there were no side effects. Henry sighed, his eyes focused on the rhythmic rise and fall of his son’s chest. Tonight had been horrifying for him, even more than the day Lauren died.He had been chatting with his friends when Hana’s scream alerted them of Ryle in the pool. He pushed past everyone and jumped into the pool without a single second of hesitation.Ryle’s body had been floating and he was already unconscious. When he performed CPR on him, he was praying to the Almighty for Ryle to open his eyes. He could hear Hana confronting Anaya about being careless with Ryle but he wasn’t concerned about that. He just needed to be sure that his son was safe.It was only after they arrived at the hospital he realized how devastating this incident cou

“Somebody call an ambulance!” Margeret’s scream ripped through the air as Anaya stared at the horror in front of her.She was completely frozen, unable to move even a single limb of hers. At this point, she forgot how to even breathe.Henry dropped Ryle gently on the floor and pressed his fingers on Ryle’s wrist. “God damn it!” He cursed under his breath before he began to apply CPR on Ryle’s chest.“How could you leave a child alone by the pool, Anaya?” Hana tore through the crowd as she stood in front of Anaya, her tone laced with disbelief.Anaya couldn’t take her eyes off Ryle as Henry performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation before pressing his chest again. “I–I–” Her words dried up. She couldn’t say anything to defend or explain herself. She would only make matters worse. Everything happened so fast. The dark figure who jumped over the wall, Ryle drowning, and the accusation. Her head was reeling with possible answers but it remained blank. “What were you doing?” Hana hissed, pu
