Chapter 71: Seed Of Double And Confusion

Lyra’s POV“Impressive.” The word echoed before I even turned to see the person behind the voice. My body was still shaking from the fight we just had, blood dripping from my arms. The arena, where the trial took place, had now emptied to half the initial population. Some were still cheering, while others whispered and threw accusations. They were still doubting my power, questioning how I managed to bring the great warrior Raoul to his knees. The moment the Pack members reduced, I thought I would finally have peace, but I was completely wrong.Ulric stood by a corner like he wasn’t part of the Pack. His broad frame was tense, which wasn't like him. His smile was too calculated and sharp.“That's really too impressive for an Omega,” he said again, moving closer. “Or should I put it this way... impressive for someone who isn't supposed to exist?”I narrowed my eyes, trying to understand what he was insinuating. “What exactly do you mean by that?”He chuckled instead of responding. “You

Chapter 72: Omega’s Rebellion

Lyra’s POV“Lyra… wait.” A voice stopped me halfway, just when I was about to slip out quietly.I turned, frowning at the interruption, only to see Mira standing before me. She happened to be the youngest Omega among us, barely sixteen years old. She clutched the hem of her cloak as if her life depended on it, trembling slightly as I watched her.“What is it?” I asked her rather more sharply than I had intended to. My nerves still agitated from Ulric’s accusations. I had no intention of lashing out at her, but I did anyway.Mira sensed the change in my attitude, hesitating before speaking. Her eyes darted to and fro to see if anyone was close by.“We need to speak…speak to you on an urgent matter,” she started in a whisper.“We?” I found myself asking, my voice also dropping to a low tone like hers.As if signaled to appear, three others immediately emerged from the corner. One of them was Joren, who happened to be too lean, with a countenance that showed one who was very scared.Anot

Chapter 73: Seraphina To The Rescue

Lyra’s POV“Kieran, watch your back!” A sweet yet poisonous voice screamed through the night like sharp steel.I spun around instinctively, my claws extending immediately in readiness to defend, the scent of blood filling the air—it was rogues. We had taken an evening stroll toward the forest, an act Alpha Kieran had made a tradition over time. It was his way of relaxing his nerves after labouring in the chamber with the council on Pack politics. Most times, he preferred going out in the company of his Beta or guards, but today he decided their service wasn’t needed. As we moved through the same path he's fond of taking, rogues lunged from the shadows, with precision like they’d been hiding there for so long. But of course, as the Alpha with experiences from battles, Kieran met them like a storm, not holding back as he bared his teeth, his dominance a force to be reckoned with. In seconds, bones were snapping, bodies collapsing weakly, unable to withstand his ferocity. But just as on

Chapter 74: The Bond Shall Bleed

Lyra's POV “Freya, what exactly do you mean by that?” My voice shook slightly as the candlelight shone on her face. "You mentioned Moon Crowned? What about the Wolf King? Using blood to pay what price? I’d love for you to say it plainly for my understanding.”Her gaze didn’t shift, not even for a second. “It’s not possible for me to say them plainly, Lyra. The prophecy was never meant to come out in a way many would understand. It was only for guidance, for dictation.”I clenched my fists as I tried to get a hold of myself. “To guide? Because right now, it doesn’t feel that way. Rather, it is a torment.”Freya exhaled slowly, like one carrying a heavy weight. The one belonging to centuries. “You asked questions, the reason Seraphina never seems to flinch, but always dares to take a stand with confidence and boldness? Why, despite all your efforts, fate ends up twisting you around Alpha Kieran? This is exactly why. The prophecy is not about anyone else but you, Lyra. You are the Moon

Chapter 75: Reality Of The Danger

Lyra's POV “Alpha Kieran, it’s not idle to ride into danger, and still not tell me everything I need to know,” I said to him, my voice coming out sharper. I watched him fasten the last strap of his armor in readiness to go, still not saying anything. When he was done, he spared me a glance, then added, “Lyra, the reports are spreading too fast. They can’t be considered rumors anymore. I’ve got devastating news of how villages are burning right on the border. And this is a result of rogues and witches working together as a team. If I do nothing… if I don’t ride out with my troop, it won’t take long before they come to us. Something must be done to stop them from spreading their evil act. I can’t wait any longer as an Alpha.”My heart was cut into many pieces on hearing that, my ribs becoming weak from hosting it.“Why don't you take me along with you?” He shook his head, rejecting my offer before I could finish.“No. I need your presence more in the Pack. During the time I’m gone to

Chapter 76: The Council At The Border

Kieran's POV “They’ll all be restless right now,” I said flatly, my voice heavy with concern. If there were a way I would abandon this battle and go back, I would have done it without thinking. But following such a step would end up with the destruction of many villages, and as the Alpha, I:m meant to protect my Pack.Even while here, Lyra’s absence is still felt. I can’t remember the last time I had such a feeling. The kiss was intense—the one that I poured my soul out on before departing for this battle. While here, I had gotten news of Brenna’s betrayal: how she switched sides the moment she noticed I wasn’t in the Pack anymore. And while still here, some council members had made their way to meet me, thereby neglecting the affairs of the Pack they were meant to take care of.Elder Rowan was the first to lean forward and talk the moment they got my attention. I hadn’t stopped thinking about what would have happened to make them look for me themselves instead of sending the guards—

Chapter 77: Bargain In Shadows

Ulric’s POV“Do you have it with you?” a grave voice asked from the dark. Though very low, the heaviness was unmistakable. Well, I didn’t flinch. Fears aren’t for people like me, but for fools. And I had long ago made peace with monsters.“Yes,” I simply replied. I carefully pulled a hefty pouch from beneath my cloak. In the process of bringing it out, it clinked, and of course, the sound traveled through the quiet night. From the shadows, three cloaked figures stepped into the little clearing. They were rogues, the very scarred ones with hungry eyes, always ready to devour. They are wolves that have no law governing them, but are led by their own greed. One of them sneered in the corner, already manifesting his greed.“There’s no doubt you pay well, lordling. But you should know that coins are spent fast and almost have no value. What we risk…”“What you risk is far bigger than the pay you get. There’s no gain worth the risk,” I cut in sharply, not allowing him to finish. “These land

Chapter 78: Burnt Disaster

Lyra’s POV“Your Majesty, don’t you think the council would be furious if they found out you secretly left the palace to…”“Then, let them be,” I replied, not allowing Freya to finish. I was dressing up as she tried to persuade me to change my mind, but I didn’t agree. “I won’t sit comfortably on that throne while the villages burn down, Freya. After the dream I had last night, it would be cruel of me to sit back and do nothing. I saw Kieran completely covered in ashes, bleeding while the moon shone faintly. I can sense some strange happenings in my spirit. Something is definitely wrong.”Freya exhaled sharply, already tired of trying to convince me otherwise. Not long after, we were on our way, our steps hurried, ensuring no one saw us. The cold of the night was so damp, even to the point of biting through my thick cloak; my heart pounded uncontrollably, but my mind was already made up. Behind us were two guards, Milo and Tessa. Both of them are Omegas—the few loyal ones that didn’t

Chapter 79: At Death’s Door

Lyra’s POVMy eyes searched all over for any sign, anything at all that could give us a clue about what happened here. I bent low to inspect the environment, and that was when I saw it… and my heart stopped. The Silverfang sigil, a fragment of fabric which has always been on Kieran’s battle armour, but now torn, half-buried in ashes.“No…” I murmured in panic.Freya immediately knelt down beside me, her eyes showing concern. “Lyra, what is going on? What did you see?”“This belongs to him,” I whispered, almost in tears. “It is Kieran’s. He was here, and now…”Freya blinked back tears immediately, holding back from rushing into conclusions. “That’s impossible. He’s certainly at the northern outpost, which is miles from here.”“That would be possible if he was able to escape the ambush of the rogues. They might have done something to trap him,” I said with a trembling voice. “Freya, what if they’ve succeeded in harming him?”“Stop it right away!” She cautioned me firmly, coming close t

Chapter 80: Welcome Trap

Lyra’s POV“Open the gates!” I commanded, my voice hoarse and loud, even in the rain that had started before we got to the palace. As I made the order, the guards scrambled to their feet to obey, making the iron gate open enough for us to slip through. My cloak was completely drenched in the rain, and my hair was tangled stubbornly. My hands were still trembling, not just from the rain, but from what I saw at the Ember Hollow. The smell of ashes had refused to leave me, clinging to my body like a curse, continuously reminding me of where I was coming from. Freya, on the other hand, rode beside me, but extremely quiet. Her face was heavy with the unknown, her eyes shadowed, and she looked dangerously guilty—but none of this was her fault. The few soldiers we had brought along, limped pitifully behind us. They were mostly half broken, which was caused by the encounter they had at the border. As soon as we entered the courtyard, I knew something was definitely wrong. The palace was to
