Justin had feelings about the mansion.As soon as they got there he seemed stuck between not believing his eyes and being really impressed. Alex tried to make Lillian stay calm but she wasn't having it. She seemed ti be running out of patience, and wanted to go fetch Jessie herself. “My men are on it and they would get her in no time. Going there all by yourself will only make you their prey,” he said.“But they are going to hurt her if the hold doesn't arrive in time.” she cried.“So you think you're going to defeat Vicenzo’s gang? Twenty minutes later, Alex’s phone buzzed. Lillian was in the lounge seated with her coat and keys in her hands ready ti go by herself. Alex walked to her and she saw the look on his face. It was day six without any good sleep for Lillian. Lillian couldn't even tell the time of day anymore. Morning turned into afternoon and afternoon turned into night. Be fire she even realized, one day had ended and another had begun. She was so deep in thought that she stopped counting the hours she slept because it was such a short time frame. Sometimes, she takes a short nap with her head on Alex’s arm but it wasn't really sleep. It was just her body shutting down from pregnancy symptoms. She showed every sign of restlessness. She walked through the mansion like she was a shadow of herself. Underneath all of it, she had the strong determination that she wouldn't stop until Jessie was home.The mansion had turned into a command center over the six days. The private medical facility was forty minutes north of the city. It was hidden behind a gate that blended into the residential road surrounding it. The facility looked ordinary from the outside.. Inside it was spotless and luxurious. The staff were high trained and people who knew how to treat injuries without asking questions.That was why Alex used the facility.Jessie was taken in immediately. The examination was quick. The bruise on her face looked worse and doesn't look like it would heal on its own. The cut near her hairline required four stitches. Her lips were cracked and she looked dehydrated, exhausted, and malnourished after six days of captivity. The nurse addressed those problems carefully.Lillian remained beside the bed the time.She sat in the chair next to Jessie. Held her hand while the stitches were done. Lillian answered questions when Jessie couldn’t focus enough to respond herself. Every time Jessie flinched Lillian squeezed her hand gently until she settled.

The clinic was on an Upper East Side street. Alex’s doctor met them in a room. The room smelled of fresh paint and antiseptic. There was a window that looked out into a courtyard. Everywhere was quiet and Lillian felt at peace. The only sound coming in was the sound of moving cars at a distance and the chirping of birds. Lillian was lying on the examination table, staring at the ceiling her stomach open. She was so excited that the untra sound was about to begin and she was also anxious. The doctor was getting the ultrasound machine ready, everything was being put into place. Alex was sitting beside her. His hand reached for her and his right hand was on his knees. He had not said much since they got there. Lillian had not said either. The silence between them was just full of waiting and questions. They were both nervous but decided not to talk about it. Lillian turned her head and looked at Alex. His jaw was set. He was also excited and anxious but he was trying to stay calm.
