Lucy’s POVFrom the little I manage to piece together from office gossip, I find that Diane and Nathan are in some relationship of sorts.“If you love your job, it’s better you stay away from the boss. She makes sure that any attractive female who comes here to work, and whom she thinks the boss may be interested in gets fired. I overheard her accusing the boss of being interested in you the other day.” Ashley, a young intern who has been here a few months before me, warns me out of the blues, as Diane emerges from Nathan’s office and begins to walk out of the building, her head held high.“Huh? What are you talking about?”“I’m talking about Diane. Nobody here likes her. She looks down on everyone and everything and thinks she’s better than everyone else. We all believe that the boss can do better than her, and we know he doesn’t really like her that much, at least not in a romantic way. She’s just forcing herself on him.”Nathan hasn’t been to the office in two days now, and no one

Lucy’s POV “You're sure Lucy stole your necklace?” Rachel asks Diane.“Of course, I'm sure. I’m not an idiot, and I wouldn’t have accused her if I wasn’t sure.” Diane replies, glaring at me.I open my mouth to say something … anything, but what comes out of it is a loud sob, even though I'm trying my best to be brave. All I can think of is how damaging this whole thing is to my reputation. My parents … oh, my goodness! There’s no way they’re not going to hear about this. What on earth are they going to think? They're most likely going to regret the fact that they brought some stranger into their home.A stranger whom they know absolutely nothing about, and who turned out to be a thief. They don’t know me well enough to vouch for me, after all. Why is my life filled with so much trouble lately?“Lucy, did you take the jewelry?” Rachel asks me.“No, I didn’t. I swear by all that’s holy that I didn’t. I can't even remember her wearing the necklace.” I cry.“Okay. Diane, wait here. Lucy,

Lucy's POV It is evident that Nathan is trying to protect me, but this only makes me more determined to prove my innocence, and I agree with Diane that we should check all the frames that could provide clues as to how her necklace went missing. So the security people retrieve the footage from the angles that show the outside of the restrooms, and we all gather to watch it. My heart is beating fast every step of the way, because even before we watch the footage, I have a pretty good idea of what the outcome is going to be. Somehow, I just know. What would my parents do? They seem to be very principled people. What will they do after finding out that the person they took under their roof was accused of stealing, and there is evidence of sorts that proves that she may have done it? I'm not surprised when the footage reveals Diane going into the restroom with a bare neck. By this time, I'm all out of tears, so I just stare blankly at the screen, my heart aching. There are three poss

Diane's POV“Are you sure you want to come with me, ma’am. This sort of job is a piece of cake for me, so I assure you that it will be done perfectly.” ‘Dragon,’ as he’s known, asks me.Nobody knows Dragon's real name, even me, despite the fact that I’ve used his services a few times. His real name is none of my business, though.I love the fact that he always does his work perfectly, collects his payment, and disappears into thin air until he’s summoned again.“I’ll come with you. I need the satisfaction of watching that idiot pay for his greed.” I reply to his question.“Alright then.”Together, we get into his car and head to my blackmailer's address. I know the way there, because I went there the night I accused Lucy of stealing my necklace to collect the CCTV footage from Desmond.Desmond is the guy in charge of the CCTV in Nathan’s company's premises, and he's also the guy who’s blackmailing me.Dragon parks his car a short distance from Desmond's house, and we walk down the dese

Nathan’s POVMy sister is recovering pretty well as well. I had no idea that she was being physically abused by her husband, because she kept what was going on from me and our parents.Still, I can't stop berating myself for not somehow figuring it out and coming to her aid sooner. Naturally, she’s devastated to learn about the loss of her baby, and while I feel sad for her, I’m also relieved. It's probably callous of me to feel that way, but at least, this way, there won't be anything linking her to her abuser, so the likelihood that she will go back to him after all this will be reduced. The police still haven’t found Steven, and neither have we heard from him, which is for the best. After spending a week and some days away from work ... apart from the times I had to come into the office because of the necklace saga, I resume fully back to work. Everyone is glad to see me, as I am to see them. I'm especially eager to see Lucy and see for myself how she's doing after her ordeal th
