POV unknown

It’s a few minutes past midnight, which means that I should long have been asleep, yet sleep eludes me like a plague.

The reason for my sudden insomnia is pure, unadulterated fear, coupled with anger.

Yes, fear that the sins of my past are going to catch up with me long after I committed them.

The anger is because the perfect plan that I hatched and perfected over the years is soon going to be messed up, big time, and all my patience over the years is going to be in vain.

There’s no way on earth I'm going to let that happen, which means that I have to start thinking of the perfect way to get rid of the problem.

This whole thing started just this afternoon. I was doing some late afternoon shopping when I heard the sound of twinkling laughter.

Although my back was turned, which meant I couldn’t see who was laughing, I recognized that laughter immediately. It traumatized me enough when I was younger.

When I turned to see who was laughing, it felt like I’d been slammed right

Lucy’s POV“This can't be happening … this can't be happening. I must be having a nightmare.” I think to myself as I stare in horror at the sight before me, and tears of disbelief fill my eyes. That loud, twinkling, feminine laughter that I would recognize any day, any time, comes again, but for the first time in my life, it fills me with revulsion instead of joy.Different emotions, the most pressing of which are shock, disbelief, and confusion, all battle for their place on my face as I stare at my bestie, Amy, who is the person laughing. She has just entered the restaurant where I’d been waiting for over two hours for my husband, Austin, or soon-to-be-ex-husband, by the looks of things, to show up.Amy is arm in arm with Austin, and I just watched them kiss each other intimately on the lips, with tongue and all.You see, tonight is my first wedding anniversary. Austin and I made reservations at this restaurant to celebrate, but he stood me up without any explanation, and now, I can

Lucy’s POVSomehow, I manage to get back home from the restaurant in one piece, but I’m a slobbering mess and a total nervous wreck. It’s almost twelve in the morning, and usually, I’ll be fast asleep by this time of the night, but today, sleep eludes me because of my broken, heavy, and aching heart.Austin isn’t at home when I get back there, and he doesn’t come back for several hours. When he finally arrives, it’s almost three in the morning, and it becomes clear that I didn’t hallucinate the events of that evening.“Here, take this and sign it.” He tells me without preamble, handing me some official-looking documents.“What is that?”“It’s divorce papers. I told you that I wanted a divorce when we were at the restaurant, didn’t I?” He asks me, glaring at me. “You can't be serious. Are you truly divorcing me? I should be the one divorcing you after what happened today.” I tell him, hating how shaky my voice is. “But you won’t do it, will you? You and I both know what you are … whi

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   A kind stranger

Nathan’s POVThis night is fast turning out to be an interesting one, although I’m sure that the woman who is currently crying profusely and making a small scene in the restaurant doesn’t find it interesting in the least. It’s hard not to feel a little sorry for her, especially because her husband is obviously such an asshole.I eat my dinner slowly and continue to watch the drama unfold, and in the end, I’m shocked to see the woman’s husband leave with his mistress, instead of her.People are watching the woman, who has sunk into a chair and is crying, with judgemental eyes, and it’s clear that they have misjudged the situation. They clearly think that she’s the side piece, and the other woman who left with her husband is the wife, and with the way she acted so timidly, instead of putting her husband and his mistress in their place, it is no surprise that people think so.“Damn it. She’s completely different from what I expected. I didn’t expect her to be so weak.” I mutter to myself

Lucy’s POVMy marriage is over … there’s no doubt about that. I’ll be the world’s biggest fool to fight for a marriage with a man who is cheating on me with my so-called best friend. This isn't to talk of the fact that he continued to have sex with her without a care in the world, right after I called him in a panic to tell him that my car was about to crash. He doesn’t give a flying fuck what happens to me and the sooner I accept that, the better.Once the guy who helped me at the accident scene, Nathan, drops me off at the villa, I go straight to get the divorce papers from the drawer in which I kept them, and I sign them. The fact that Austin had the divorce papers readily available shows that he had been planning this for a while, while I was blissfully unaware.Unaccustomed hatred for him grips me, but I can't dwell on any of this right now. I have to pack my things so I can get the hell out of this depressing place, as well as think of what to do after this, and so that is exact

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   A damsel in distress

Nathan’s POVI’m rounding off my work for the day when the call that changes everything comes in on my phone. It is my assistant who is calling.“Hello, Helen,” I say into the phone.“Boss, boss! I’ve got some really big news.” Helen exclaims into the phone. I can hear the excitement in her voice, and it rubs off on me instantly, but I try my best to keep calm.“Of course, what’s the news?” I ask.“She’s the one, boss. The lady is the one we’ve been looking for. The sample you sent matches the DNA we’re working with perfectly. Boss, this is huge! Our search is finally over.” Helen exclaims excitedly.“This is such wonderful news, Helen. You’ve just made my evening, and in fact, my entire month as well! Alright, I want you to find out where she is right now, and send me her location.” “Sure, boss. I’ll get on it immediately.” She replies, and then we end the call. I make quick work of rounding off my work in the office, and by the time I’m done, Helen has sent Lucy’s location. I wor

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   A stalker?

Lucy’s POV I'm fairly certain that I may have gotten myself into some deep shit. First of all, I wake up in a strange room with no idea of how I got there. As though that isn’t enough, this man, with whom I find myself locked in the room, isn’t letting me leave. My heart is pounding heavily in my chest. On the one hand, Nathan doesn’t look like someone who is out to hurt me, but then, looks are deceptive, and one can never tell.Who on earth is this man, and what does he want with me? I already thanked him for his help, so what more does he want from me? The way he keeps staring at me ... like he knows something I don’t, leaves me feeling greatly unsettled, and then there are the ominous-sounding words that he just uttered.“You can’t leave. I’ve been looking for you for so long …”“Okay, well, I don’t know what that means, but I hope you know that holding me here against my will is kidnapping, which is a crime,” I tell him, feigning indifference. However, my eyes are darting arou

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   An unreal discovery

Austin’s POVI find the fact that Lucy is nervous because I told her she can't leave yet a bit amusing, and if I’m being honest, a little bit offensive. While I’m no saint, I’d like to think that I don’t in any way look like a kidnapper, serial killer, or hitman as she accused me of being either. However, I also have to admit that she’s right to be cautious.I wouldn’t have told her about her family just yet, but since she was becoming increasingly agitated, and the doctor emphasized that she needed rest, not more stress, I had to tell her to reassure her that I don’t have any evil plans for her.Watching her face light up with different emotions, ranging from disbelief to hope, and then pure joy, is very satisfying and rewarding for me after all the work I’ve done to find her.But then she utters some words that cause me to do a double-take.“Are you my brother? I have a brother?!"The question catches me off guard. How on earth can she think that I’m her brother? That’s preposterous

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   A long-awaited reunion

Lucy’s POVI'm a nervous wreck, but for a good reason this time around. It’s been two days since Nathan divulged the fact that I have blood-related family members to me, and today, I’m finally going to meet with them. There are several unanswered questions flying around inside my head … questions which Nathan is unable, or perhaps unwilling, to answer for me. He keeps telling me that I’m going to get the answers to all my questions once I meet with my family, so I have no choice but to wait and see. From the little I can decipher from what Nathan has told me about them, and even from the way Nathan looks and acts, I can tell that my family is wealthy, and this makes me even more nervous. What on earth are they going to think of me? I have next to nothing in my name, even though Austin is well-to-do.I was his secretary before we got married, after all, and secretaries don’t make a lot of money. Whatever I have to my name is definitely going to be a grain of sand in the ocean, compare

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   A long night

Nathan’s POVThe next hour is a blur that I can hardly remember. Somehow, I manage to dial 911 and give them all the necessary information. Luckily, help arrives fast, and soon, we’re on our way to the hospital, where she's admitted immediately. To my greatest relief, although my sister is unresponsive, she is still alive, and the paramedics begin to work on her immediately.I sit in the waiting room, feeling equal measures of rage and helplessness, and I call my parents to let them know what's going on. Finally, after some hours have passed, a doctor comes over to talk to me, his expression grim.“She’s suffered severe trauma from the beating she took. She’s still unconscious and will be for a while, but thankfully, we’ve managed to stabilize her. She’s lucky that you brought her in right on time. She’ll recover fully, but it will take time and patience. I hope that the person who did this to her will be found quickly, but even more importantly, I hope that she gets the help she nee

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   A dreadful night

Nathan’s POVI’ve never liked late-night calls, so when my phone suddenly starts to ring sometime after midnight, I bolt upright in bed immediately to check who’s calling. My heart sinks with dread when I see that it’s my older sister, Doris, but I quickly answer the call."Doris? What's up?"“Nathan, he’s started acting up again. Can you come get me, please? It’s really urgent.” She whispers fearfully.“You fucking bitch! I thought I told you not to call anyone? Who the fuck are you talking to on the phone?” I hear Doris ask angrily, after which there comes the sound of a small crash and a yelp of pain from Doris.Every trace of sleep vanishes from my eyes, and I get up immediately, rummage through my closet, pick up the first trousers I can find, and shove my legs into them.“Doris, what’s going on? Talk to me, dammit!” I say into the phone, as I find a shirt and wear it.I do not get a response from Doris, despite desperately asking her several times what’s going on. Soon, the call

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   The seductress

Diane’s POVI close the distance between Nathan and me and lock eyes with him, giving him my best seductive look ... a look that never fails to bring men to their knees. Then I slowly and deliberately lift my hands and undo the top button of my shirt. Nathan’s eyes widen immediately. "Yeah, that's what I thought." I think to myself, feeling very fulfilled. Then, I smile and go a step further to undo the second button. Now, the tops of my full breasts are exposed, and I silently thank my stars that I wore my sexiest push-up bra with its matching panties before coming here.“What the hell do you think you're doing?” Nathan asks me.“Come on, babe, we’re both adults, and I know you want this as much as I do,” I reply in my sultriest voice, undoing the remaining buttons, so he can have an eyeful of just what he’s been missing.I’m unprepared for the next words that come out of his mouth.“Diane, have some self-respect and button your shirt. This is an office, for goodness’ sake.” He tell

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   An unwanted visitor

Diane’s POVI’ve always hated it whenever a new woman starts working in Nathan’s office, especially when it’s a beautiful woman. So you can imagine my surprise and disgust when I arrive at his office, and I see a beautiful, young woman, who seems to be around my age, and whom I’ve never seen before, working there. The woman even has the balls to talk to me … something almost all of Nathan’s staff are scared shitless to do, so to say I'm surprised is an understatement. When I pause and get a good look at her, my surprise turns to fear. Yes, fear …Not only is this woman beautiful, but she’s very clearly the type of woman that Nathan likes … the type of woman I’ve tried to be over the years just to get him to decide that I'm worth being with, but I can never keep up the façade for long. She has that 'good girl' look, which Nathan digs. Right now, she’s smiling at me as though we’re besties, or equals, but of course, I'm not having any of it. Just looking at her, I can tell she’s way ben

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   The flirt

Lucy’s POVFor some weird reason, I can't get the hostile look on Diane's face off my head.I’m used to females like her, who think that they're the best thing to happen to mankind and that no one is fit to lick the soles of their feet, but still, her behaviour stings for some reason.I'm already dreading the time she's going to come out of Derek's office, and I fervently hope that I won't have to interact with her.About ten minutes after I settle down at my desk, I hear heavy footsteps approaching. When I look up, I see a handsome, tall man who looks to be the same age as Nathan, sauntering towards me.“And who might this raving beauty be?” The man drawls in a deep voice before I can speak, coming to a stop in front of my desk.I turn and look around to be sure that he is talking to me, and when I realize that he indeed is, I turn back to face him.“Uh, hello, sir. You're welcome to …”“Oh, don’t do that, pretty damsel. Don’t call me sir. You make me feel like I’m someone’s aged gra

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   Quality time

Lucy’s POVWorking at Nathan’s office turns out to be a very great experience, as my parents assured me that it would be. Everyone’s super nice to me, so the work environment is very conducive. In a very short time, I learn so many things. I’ve always been very keen on taking on new challenges, so all of this is very easy for me.It comes as no surprise to anyone when I’m promoted to be an assistant to Nathan’s assistant after a period of internship, so that my training can advance even further.I start working in my new role, and I love every minute of this new role because Nathan is such a chill boss. One day, I'm busy preparing some documents that he needs, when a whiff of expensive perfume hits my nostrils.Looking up from what I'm doing, I see a beautiful woman who looks to be about my age saunter past me gracefully, her head held high. She has an air of importance about her, and everything about her screams ‘luxury.’ She heads straight for Nathan’s office without sparing me a gl

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   One last favor

Nathan's POV“Hello, Nathan. How are you doing?” Mr. Ralph Lewis, Lucy’s father, asks me over the phone. The man has been nothing short of grateful ever since I found Lucy, and finding her has made me even closer to the family.“I’m very well, sir, and you?”“I’m fine as well. Listen, son, I know you’ve done a lot for my family in recent times, and I’m very grateful for that, but I have one last favor to ask from you.”“Sure, sir. What do you need me to do?” I ask him.“It’s about my daughter, Lucy. As I hoped she would be, she’s very interested in learning my business and taking over it from me one of these days. So she needs to learn a lot of business skills in a short time. I was hoping you’d help me show her the ropes. I believe that no one can teach her as fast as you can.”“Of course, sir. That’s not a problem. I’ll be glad to teach her. Do send her to my office as soon as she’s ready to start.” I reply.“Thank you, son. I really appreciate your kindness and I’m indebted to you.

  • Goodbye Ex, Go to Hell!   Hardworking

Lucy’s POVMy nerves are shot because it is today I'm going to start learning business management, something I know next to nothing about, as an intern at Nathan’s company.I’ve only ever worked as a secretary for my ex-husband, and this role I’m training for is very different from that. The last thing I want to do is to screw up, hence the nerves. However, I'm also a little excited and eager to learn and prove myself to my parents for the chance that they’ve given me and all that they’ve done for me in the little time that they’ve known me.Thus, I arrive promptly at Nathan's company at the stipulated time. I'm dressed impeccably in blazers and tailored trousers, and my hair is professionally done. The driver that my dad assigned me drops me off in front of the building, and I step out of the car, take a deep breath, and then go into the large and impressive building. In no time, I locate where I'm to work and exchange pleasantries with the people I’m to work with. It turns out that
