Thane still had his arm wrapped around me as we hobbled through the woods. I looked up. Even though the trees were mostly shielding us, the moon was still visible, almost completed covered by black now. I stopped and Thane looked at me in confusion. "We need to get you to safety, Piper." He spoke urgently. I frowned. Here he was, his chest heaving, blood seeping out of a dozen cuts at his sides. I placed my hands on his cheeks, cupping them and making him turn to face me. “We can’t outrun him, Thane. We never will be able to oitrun him." Not with Thane hurt and the rest of the pack barely holding on. I turned around looking at all of them looking beaten, bloody and demoralised. "We can't keep running." I spoke with an exhausted sigh. Thane tightened his grip on my arms. He looked me in the eyes with a serious look on his face. "I will not let you sacrifice yourself, Piper. Not now, not ever." I stared up at the Eclipse.
