Jacob scowled like he was greatly troubled. Another healer suddenly barged in and shouted anxiously, “Alpha, Luna Molly has lost too much blood! She needs a blood transfusion right now!”The troubled expression vanished from Jacob’s face, and he turned to me. “Zoey, your wolf is really strong, so you’ll be fine. Even if my wolf was strong, my body was weak from blood loss, and every step I took toward the forest was incredibly difficult. The pup limped after me. It seemed to have sensed just how weak I was, since he nuzzled against my ankle as if it wanted to give me some strength. I looked at it and said gently, “I’m fine. If I manage to hunt down a wild boar, I’ll give you its blood so that you can recover a bit of your strength too.”The pup gave a little yip as if he understood. Soon after, a sounder of wild boars in the distance smelled my scent. They did not run away in fear. The leader seemed to have sensed my fragility. Jacob felt a sharp pain in his heart. He stumbled back a few steps before he finally found his footing. Even so, he started trembling, and when he spoke, even his voice quivered, “What… did you say?”The patrolman gave the pale Jacob a troubled look and wondered whether he should repeat what he had just said, only to fall back before the Alpha could crash into him. Jacob ran out of the ward without caring about Elizabeth yelling behind him.“Where are you going, Jacob?!”He continued running without a care for maintaining the pride and calmness of an Alpha. When he arrived at the forest and saw the traces of the fight between Zoey and the wild boar, he slumped down on the ground in despair. There was a terrifying pool of blood before him. Jacob stayed by the dried pool of blood in the forest day and night and did not allow anyone to get close. When a patrolman told him the sixth time that they did not find any traces of Zoey or the strangers, he turned his bloodshot eyes back to the brown stain on the ground and continued squatting in silence. Elizabeth could no longer bear watching it. She came to him while supporting Molly. “How long are you going to stay here, Jacob?! Molly is still pregnant with your pup! Jacob did not believe that Zoey was dead, so he abandoned the pack and started searching for her. He combed through the entire forest and spoke to all the traveling merchant caravans he saw. He even barged into the territories of enemy packs. It simply did not make sense to him that Zoey, the strongest female werewolf he knew, could die so easily.
