บททั้งหมดของ The Fae Serenade.: บทที่ 51 - บทที่ 60

“Kyle cannot even kill a cockroach, so what do you mean he killed eleven people?” I yell before I can stop myself.Isadora gives me a long stare, before looking away from me to King Sven. “I have dispatched royal guards to the Shadow moon pack because our people are frenzied at the thought of a rogue Fae being loose,” she tells King Sven, completely brushing me off as though my query deserve no response. “I also gave a kill on sight order.”“No. You cannot do that. He is my brother, and I know him better than anyone in this Kingdom or anyone living, and Kyle would never hurt anyone. Like I said, he cannot even hurt a cockroach,” I plead, desperation seeping through the crack of my voice. I cannot let anything happen to Kyle… he must have been falsely accused. Knowing the hatred the people of Māui, and werewolves in general have for my kind, it’s plausible. “Investigate properly before accusing him. He already has a bounty on his head… he won’t be stupid enough to do that.”“You are ru

I stare at Eliana like she has just grown two heads, but I do not say a thing. Not yet.“He is waiting,” she adds. “Let me take you to go meet him.”Still, I say nothing. But the name finally rings a bell. Orion. It’s the same name Isadora had mentioned earlier in her conversation with King Sven. The representative of the Alphas of the South. I know why he wants to meet me; after all, Eliana had mentioned it during our last conversation. He wants to know if King Sven is indeed a Fae.I take a step backward, but my back collides against the wall, stressing my neck. My jaw sets into a hard line. “I am not interested, Eliana,” I say, my voice cold and flat. “I don’t care about your visionary leader from the South. I don’t care about Orion. I have enough monsters to deal with without adding another one to the list. Find someone else to play your games with.”I turn to walk away, but Eliana steps directly into my path, blocking the exit with a strong hold on my shoulder. Her expression is

KYLE’S POV.“I’m indeed a lucky man to have found you. But you seem to be on the run,” he says, taking another step forward.I don’t back down. I match his movement, planting my feet firmly into the dirt and holding my fighting stance. “Let me guess, bounty hunters?” He asks.Bounty? I don’t answer.Even if I want to, I have no voice to. I don’t plan on giving the man in front of me an inch, and I can literally read the danger signs written all over him. I wonder if this is the werewolf whose scent Katniss picked up on earlier. Or what if he isn't alone?Ah, Katniss. I just hope she stays back. She does not need to get dragged into this.“No answer?” He stops walking, standing square in front of me. He crosses his hand behind his back. We are about the same height, and he tries to throw his weight around to intimidate me, but I refuse to give him the satisfaction. I hold his gaze, unblinking. “I will get straight to the point. I have been searching for you, so you can drop the stance

KYLE’S POV.Helios turns his heavy gaze toward us, crossing his massive arms over his chest. “Alright, kids. Orion says to keep you alive, but he didn’t give orders saying we have to carry you so move along.”Katniss snorts, finally sheathing her sword, though her posture remains stiff. “We can walk just fine, giant. Just try to keep up. Some of us don’t have trunks for legs so I am pretty sure we walk faster.”The second werewolf, a younger guy with messy brunette hair, lets out a bark of laughter. “I like her. She’s got spirit, Helios. Can we keep her?”“Watch it, I’m not a toy,” Katniss shoots back. “I never called you one—”“Shut up, Toby,” Helios grunts, cutting him off as he turns around and begins to lead the way through the forest. They all speak with an accent like Orion. I think it’s a Southern accent.Katniss and the boy, whose name I have now learnt to be Toby, make faces at each other before they start to follow Helios. I follow behind, cautious, because I do not fully t

OLIVIA’S POV.“What do you mean King Sven is your brother?” I ask, unable to believe the news. The door remains widely open, and Orion still isn’t looking back at me as he answers, back stiff. “Exactly what I said. I did not speak in a foreign language, did I? Or do you not understand my accent?”This comes as a shock to me. I can’t even wrap my head around it. “If you are King Sven’s brother then you should know if he’s Fae or not,” I tell him. “So, why ask me then?”“You are right,” he replies, one foot out of the room. His back is still turned towards me. “I never grew up with him though, so I would not know.”With that, he leaves the room and closes the door even before I get the chance to ask him any more questions.I stand rooted on a spot, unable to believe what I had just heard.Orion is… King Sven’s brother?•••It’s morning now, and I lay lazily on my bed. I barely slept through the night.Every time I tried closing my eyes, my conversation with Orion replayed over and over
